Oklahoma is covered in huge storms. I'm under a tornado watch until midnight. Right now, a huge storm is heading straight for Lake Hefner. I live on the north shore of the lake. The storm (not a tornado but a huge supercell t-storm) should hit here at 6:30.
I don't want to be overly dramatic, but am a little nervous. I'm as prepared as I can get. Will check in every so often.
Just sent Froggy an email with my phone number. Told her she can call if the Pond doesn't hear from me every 30 minutes or so.
We saw when we came home from my check up that you all were in for another bad time of it. I started prayers right then, will continue. Keep checking in hon--is it okay for you to use the phone if it's bad out? Wow--you take care; we love you!
Raining and hailing here. The big storm headed my way didn't happen. There is a huge tornado (several small ones rotated into one big one) south of me that is headed toward where my little sister lives. Her neighbor has an underground storm shelter. They will go there if need be.
Tornado sirens just went off. I'm in no danger right now.
This line of storms is or will be threatening a lot of people in a lot of other states. Please pray for everyone.
Tornado siren just went off for the 4th time. Lots of tornados. The airport was just evacuated. Its hard to predict because the atmosphere is so volatile and keeps changing.
Surfie, I just looked up OKC news Channel 4. It is KFOR that did such a spectacular coverage, live streaming, of the last bad tornado. I had KFOR on my computer most of that day.
Froggy said be careful about using the phone during lightening. Lightening can come up the phone lines and zap you.
Yup. These guys first say get off I-40 and go south and then say no, no if you're on the road go north, go north. Poor people don't know what to do! As soon as one tornado weakens, another picks up strength. It's going to be a long night.
Froggy/Surfie if Surfie's phone is wireless or a cell phone she is safe, if she has an old hard wired phone, she is not safe. In other words, if you can walk around your place without wires connecting to something .... you're fine. Prayers continue.....
Surfie, We're all praying for you and your fellow Oklahomans! Just heard about it on the news on my way home from work. Hope you have found cover and are in a safe place!
Pond Family, Two tornados confirmed by National Weather Service came down in OKC.
I have three screens open on my computer: The Pond, map of Oklahoma City and Surfie's place, and weather map that shows where the storm is. That storm is sitting right over our Surfie!
7th tornado siren. Have had torrential rain, small hail. Right now, it is calm but the air is thick like pea soup. When the air is thick and the light is green, that is tornado weather. From what I'm seeing on local weather, me and my family will probably be OK.
Pray for Oklahoma and everyone in the path of this line of storms as it works its way across the country.
We're watching it on FOX--the highway is a solid ribbon of headlights and the police have roadblocks up as there have been numerous accidents and strandings.
Surfie, you stay safe tonight. Do you still have power/water/food etc. for tonight? I think the tornado danger for you is dropping--hope the rainstorm doesn't last all night. We'll keep an eye on things...
Surfie, I'm up and down most nights. So I'll check The Pond when I walk by. I'm not leaving yet. Just glad that you are safe. Some nights I sleep with a radio too.

I'm praying, Surfie. Shep Smith is making me crazy because I don't know if he's being purposely dramatic. I fear he isn't. Praying.
ReplyDeleteSurfie, Surfie...
ReplyDeleteWe are so scared for you. We just saw the news on TV. Showed a double tornado just west of OKC. We are all here for you.

ReplyDelete6th tornado siren. Torrential rain, hail, high winds here at my house. I'm worried about the building where I work.
ReplyDeleteHang on, Surfie. It's a mess to be sure and I'm afraid you'll be up all night.
ReplyDeleteI have it on FOX news now... wow, skies are black....
ReplyDeleteSurfie--you have any power? I'm terrified to call you in this storm...

NWS says the danger of tornados is waning, but it looks just as black out there. They still don't know the conditions on the ground.

ReplyDeleteSurfie,
ReplyDeleteWe have had the news on TV since the storms started. Plus on the Internet. This storm goes from Oklahoma almost to Chicago.
We are sending more prayers for OKC and for you and your friends and family. Deer Friend, we Ponders are still here for you.
Where is your job located? I have a map up on my computer, and I can see everything.
The worst has passed for me and my family. It could still kick up again overnight, but it is not a big possibility. Thank you for your prayers.
ReplyDeleteThese storms are marching on. Please pray for everyone in the path of this storm.
I love you all and am so blessed to be your friend. Sleeping on the couch tonight with my radio going.
Still praying. I'll check back later.
ReplyDeleteSurfie, I'm up and down most nights. So I'll check The Pond when I walk by. I'm not leaving yet. Just glad that you are safe. Some nights I sleep with a radio too.
ReplyDeleteFinal check of the night. I'm glad Surfie is safe, but I know others are missing, stranded and in harm's way. Prayers continue.
ReplyDeleteI'm still up. We are watching TV. Just fed cat and hope that he'll be quiet all night. On my way to check OKC weather scan.
ReplyDeleteAll is quiet at The Pond.
ReplyDeleteFroggy went to bed.
Wolfie is curled up in his favorite box.
I'm nodding off at the computer so I'm hopping away too.
'Night Everyone...
