I love that bouquet; patriotic colors are my favorite!
I thought I'd chime in about sleeping aids. I have had trouble sleeping ever since my hubby went to shift work 5 years ago. After trying everything under the sun, which included hypsosis, therapy, strange new age counselor, and you name it, I tried it, but I still couldn't relax home alone at night and fall asleep. I finaly tried sleeping pills. The first one they had me try was Ambien, but it made me feel too strange. I felt like I was not all there. :/ What I take now is Lunesta. It seems to work, but I go from the 3mg. tablet when hubby is on graveyard and swingshift, to 1/4 tablet when he is on days. My doc is fine with it, but I would love to be able to sleep without taking anything at all. The most annoying thing is my insurance company makes me feel like I'm a druggie. They keep saying I can only get the prescription filled every 30 days, which doesn't work with hubby's shiftwork. I'm still fighting the insurance company, because I really need to be alert to do my job, and sleep is mandatory! ;) The funny thing is, my insurance co. would have no problem with me taking Ambien every night, even though I told them my reaction to it. You see, it is a lot cheaper for them. So bottom line, it's all about the all mighty dollar. :(
At least I am sleeping at night. :) Take care friends. Good night!
Paget, Ambien knocks me out within 30 mins but does not give a full nights sleep. Amitriptyline is slow to act but works all night. Page takes it to prevent migraine headaches. It's cheap and effective and non-habit forming. Ask your doctor. Now if I could get Froggy to try it.
I have tried it, Phoo--I get liver toxicity with it. I had a bad spell of that in the late 1980's and had to have my gallbladder taken out. Right now, I use Trazadone. It works fairly good in putting me to sleep, but I have to be in bed and already sleepy as it has a short window of action. I have to pray I'm not awakened too soon as it won't last the night.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Phoo. :) I'll see if my doctor will approve. Have a lovely day, everyone :)
