Good morning Ponders! The weather here in OKC has gone from blast-furnace hot to early winter for a day. High today in the 40's, but next week we should have typical autumn weather. Very nice.
I'm doing my usual Saturday stuff (clean house, pay bills, plan next week's food, grocery store). I'm making a pear & apple crisp to take to Karen's family.
Karen is doing GREAT. The horrible pain and so many other problems are gone, and it seems like every hour she becomes more her old self. She has to take it easy for 2 weeks before starting radiation, which will be every other day for a month. Please keep her in your prayers.
Sunday, I need to go shopping. I HATE shopping! Winter is coming and I really need some socks, a new pair of comfy shoes for work, and galoshes. I'm probably showing my age by using the word galoshes. I need some boots to slog through rain and sleet and snow this winter.
Good morning, Surfie..So glad you have a much cooler day. What a miserable summer! We are cooler in Seattle. Thank you for the Karen update. She is such a fighter. Radiation won't be fun either, but she will have you by her side.

I'm going nowhere this entire weekend. Gas prices out here are outrageous! No, it's worse than that. I need another word. Phooey, think of one. The lowest price I saw yesterday was at a Shell station and it was $4.59/gal for regular. There was a line... a long one.
On the upside, I think I see an uptick in baby Bambu's weight. I don't have a scale to check it, but he feels more substantial today. He eats well and doesn't throw up, so maybe he'll start adding the pounds. I'll even take one pound!
My Georgia Bulldogs face a tough test today against South Carolina. I think our current unbeaten status is in danger, but if they do their best, I can deal with a loss. It's when we beat ourselves with stupid penalties (which often happens), that I go crazy.
Go UGA! How many of them are buried in the red zone (green zone?)
I'm glad Bambu seems better--Wolfie has been sneezing... and he looks real sleepy a lot; I hope he doesn't have a cold--it IS dusty here. We can't exactly afford the vet right now. I cannot believe how high your gas is,Eva. We had to give up our car last Christmas--but we're right downtown. 'Woggy just grabbed a bus up to the store. My 4" ulcer is healing well, but my legs swell, so I've been told to keep off it, so I can't really help her as I'd like to. We go to Wound Care every Monday. Take care of yourself for your test, Phoo--I'll be praying special prayers for you! I love you. We all do!
I don't know how many Uga's are in the mausoleum, but I should. Lord, but the team did badly today! I'm sure UGA IV stayed inside his doghouse on the sidelines. It was too humiliating a game to come out!
Honestly, Froggy, if it isn't one thing it's another, isn't it? When I was in New York, my sister-in-law asked me how her mom's legs were. I said I didn't know I was supposed to keep an eye on her legs. It isn't as if she moves around much. It seems that one of them needs to be elevated when she's sitting because it swells. Well, I took a look at it and whoa! it was about 3 times the size as the other one. I pulled an ottoman over to the chair for her, but she wasn't interested.
I forgot to say, "Hang in there, Phooey, with the colonoscopy prep!" I'm like Surfie, 57 and I haven't had one yet even though my doc keeps telling me I should. I just keep putting it off.
'Woggy said she was real doped up for the test, and I HAD to be with her for the trip home or they wouldn't release her. It didn't take too long. But she got so she just couldn't drink any more of that magnesium jug they give you to clean you out. She burst into tears and said she just couldn't. I made sure I stayed up all night with her the one jug got her tank on empty well enough. I can't figure out how I'll deal with my blood sugar with clear liquids for 3 days and the total clean out--I get weak and often can't walk far the way it is... Any advice?
Thank you for being so encouraging to my 'Wogette--all of you ;-)

Love you Ponders!
Pear & apple crisp? Good thing you're no longer in Santa Monica. I'd be on your doorstep!
DeletePrayers continue for Karen. Radiation is a b**ch.
Happy shopping :)
What does radiation do to you? My grandma had it for her lung cancer, but I didn't want to dwell on it--she was scared enough.
DeleteWe'll keep the prayers a'going, for you all, Surfie!

Okay Eva another word :
Deletescan·dal·ous/ˈskandl-əs/
Adjective:
Causing general public outrage by a perceived offense against morality or law: "a series of scandalous liaisons".
(of a state of affairs) Disgracefully bad, typically as a result of someone's negligence or irresponsibility.
Good boy, Bambu! Don't make your parents worry!

ReplyDeleteThis is my second one. Trust me the procedure is OK.... the prep not so much.
DeleteThat's what 'Woggy said. I need one, too--I'm 54.
DeleteOkay... I'll give it another try. For some reason I couldn't post.
ReplyDeleteGood Saturday morning to all the ponders. It is wonderful to hear of Karen's progress.
The Wog has started her own "Wog's Corner" with her NEWS FROM THE NEWS.
Eva and Surfie, what could be more fun than a colonoscopy prep? Except having total strangers peek inside your most private parts.
