  1. Rooting for the Seahawks!

It's snowing like crazy here, and is supposed to keep snowing for another 4 hours. So, I'm not going anywhere today. Think I'll make some chicken & veggie soup, take a bubble bath, give myself a mani-pedi, and watch football!

Had dinner last night with my brother, sister, and their spouses. My sister is a really beautiful woman but has gotten obese. She changed her diet on 1/1 to the Body for Life program. Good grief! By just eating healthy food (no exercise), she has lost 10 lbs already. We talk every day but I haven't seen her since New Year's Eve. I got to the restaurant first. When I saw her walk through the front door, I had to fight back the tears of joy. WOW! She still has another good 30 lbs to lose, but she is so excited that I know she will do it. YAY!

    1. So happy for your sister. It is wonderful that as her sister you are happy for her.

    2. Surfie; that is awesome! I am also very impressed with your sister! After your comment the other day about the changes you are making in your own health plan, I started thinking that I need to do the same thing. I plan to look up the Body for Life program and see if it might work for me. :) Thanks for sharing this! :)

    3. Surfie, that's wonderful news about your sister. I've tried to lose about 20-30 pounds for years, when all I have to do is change the way I eat. I'm going to look up the Body for Life program too. But not going to eat better today. Today is Super Bowl Sunday eat-what-you-want-junk-food day!

  2. I just have to say one more time how thrilling it is that Nathaniel is home. How does a 1 pounder with a tablespoon of blood survive? My God, how great Thou art! I am so grateful that He has given us the knowledge that is now modern medical science. From Him, all blessings flow.

    2. Baby Nathaniel will never know how many people are rooting for him. Sis and I are sending prayers for his continued success.

  3. Surfie, thanks for your support for our Seahawks! I know Froggy and Wog have an attachment to the Broncos, so I understand them being Bronco fans. :) Having said that, Gloria, I bet you're also excited for the Seahawks! All I've seen for the last 3 days are people wearing Seahawks shirts, hats, etc.! I love how it's brought the state together, like nothing else ever has. The majority of us over here on the east side of WA are conservative, so you can imagine how we feel about the west side of the state. Think of oil and water mixing, and you've got it. LOL. Not quite that bad, but pretty close. :) The country seems to favor the Broncos, as to what I've heard on TV. That's fine, of course most of us here in Washington beg to differ! :)

Thinking of you all: Froggy, Wog, Surfie, Eva, Gloria, Phooey, and EC.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Love from Paget

    1. I remember being in Denver and everyone was wearing an orange Bronco t-shirt. I am wearing my Seahawks t-shirt today, and Froggy is rooting for her Broncos. We bet $10 against each other. So whoever's team wins, gets the "big" cash pot. We have lots of munchies for the game, but have already started eating. We have tacos, chips, celery sticks and cream cheese, popcorn, ice cream.

      Let's party!

  4. FUN WEATHER NEWS:

Punxsutawney Phil: Six more weeks of winter
By Steve Almasy, CNN / Sun February 2, 2014

(CNN) -- Famed groundhog weather prognosticator Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow Sunday morning at Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, foretelling six more weeks of winter.

The good news is that, according to analysis by the National Climatic Data Center, Phil is wrong most of the time.

This is the 101st time he has seen his shadow since 1887. There was no record of his first prediction in 1886, the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club says on its website.

  5. Thank you so much 'Wog for yesterday's beautiful picture. My niece was overwhelmed to hear about it. I've been looking for your email in my notes and I can't find it. Can you post it again? I want to send you a picture of Nikki and Nathaniel. Maybe you can post it on the Pond one day.

I'm amazed at how this game is going!! Never would I have believed that the Broncos would be down by 29 points. Just goes to show you that anything can happen. Defense usually wins the big games. I still don't count Peyton out, but this is getting tough. The Seahawks are for real!

I'd better check out that Body for Life business, too. Right now I'm stuffed with pizza and buffalo wings. Not too healthy!

So happy about little Nat, he is in my nightly prayers. All the plants survived this weather. Hope all are staying warm and healthy. EC

  7. Oh dear, I can't see the picture :(. Is it just my computer? I appreciate your posting it, 'Wog even though I can't see it.

We're in the midst of snow storm #4. The wind is howling and the snow is swirling. Luckily, I'm inside where it's warm.

What do you mean you can't see the picture? Really!!! It's beautiful. I just copy and pasted it to the Pond. I just looked on Froggy's computer, and you are right. The picture is NOT there. I'll have to try again. I must be the only one who can see the picture.

  8. Shucks! I tried to get the pic of Baby Nathaniel posted but it just wouldn't work. I was the only one who could see it. So I posted a cute baby pic form the Internet. I'll ask Froggy if she knows how to do this.

Only one team showed up to play football yesterday.

    2. Phooey, you're right about that. The Broncos may have thought they came to play, but the Seahawks were obssessed!

'Wog, I appreciate the effort. Looking at the picture that you have up there now, I only hope the day comes that Nathaniel goes after a watermelon like that!!

  9. Hi All...
I left a message for work. There is no way I can get to work and come home tomorrow with the Seahawks victory parade going right through the middle of downtown. They expect 500,000 people to be along the parade route. Some people are already camping out tonight. Crazy idea! It is COLD. TV said temperature with wind-chill could be about 10 degrees tonight. So Sis and I will watch the excitement on the TV. Such a historic for Seattle.

    1. Gee Whiz! Did I leave out a word on my last sentence. It should read, "Such a historic event for Seattle."

    2. Wog, that is so exciting! My son has friends who have traveled to Seattle for the event. That is a 200 mile trip. The governor has issued a proclamation for the whole state that at 12:12 pm today, there will be a state wide loud roar for 30 seconds to honor the Seahawks and the 12th man. :)

    3. The whole state is excited about the Seahawks. My son says that 2 of the guys from work are taking the day off to go into Seattle for the parade and all. It is nice that the Gov is recognizing the Hawks. (Gov Poindexter is still a dork to me.)

  10. NEWS FROM THE NEWS: PUTIN MUST BE LAUGHING

The Belarusian Connection: Obamacare network vulnerable to cyber attack
    BY: Bill Gertz / February 3, 2014

U.S. intelligence agencies last week urged the Obama administration to check its new healthcare network for malicious software after learning that developers linked to the Belarus government helped produce the website, raising fresh concerns that private data posted by millions of Americans will be compromised.

The intelligence agencies notified the Department of Health and Human Services, the agency in charge of the Healthcare.gov network, about their concerns last week. Specifically, officials warned that programmers in Belarus, a former Soviet republic closely allied with Russia, were suspected of inserting malicious code that could be used for cyber attacks, according to U.S. officials familiar with the concerns.

The software links the millions of Americans who signed up for Obamacare to the federal government and more than 300 medical institutions and healthcare providers.

  11. HOW "SECRET" IS TECHNOLOGY?:

NSA reportedly using radio waves to snoop on offline computers worldwide
    Published January 15, 2014 • FoxNews.com

The National Security Agency has placed software on nearly 100,000 computers around the world that allows the U.S. to conduct surveillance on those machines using radio frequency technology, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

The secret technology allows the agency to gain access to computers that other countries have tried to protect from spying or cyberattacks, even if they aren't connected to the Internet, The Times reported, citing NSA documents, computer experts and U.S. officials.

The software network could also create a digital highway for launching cyberattacks by transmitting malware, including the kind used in attacks by the U.S. against Iran's nuclear facilities, according to the report.

  12. 'Wog, I'm just glad to hear people got back to Seattle from New Jersey. It's such a mess here!! Today, we have storm #2 and they're forecasting a nor'easter for Sunday. I think I'll just stay inside and watch TV. I may end up crazy, but I'll be warm and dry :)

Today my niece turns 31 and she has the best birthday present ever. I'm going to try and skype with her later (if our power stays on) and get some more screen time cooing at Nathaniel.

  13. I need some advice on internet and cable providers. We have Comcast. They charge a lot for what we have. I am thinking about changing to Frontier. We already have them for our home phone. Many people have droped their land lines and just use a cell. Scott does not want to quit that one. Every time I have to deal with Comcast over the phone I get mad.

    1. Gloria,
If you have a choice for something better, do it. You can always go back to Comcast. We have to use Comcast because it's what our building has. And we still use landline, corded home phone! I carry a cell in my pocket. (which I call my "old-people" phone because it flips open). I seldom turn it on, and I never text. I always said I only use it if the car breaks down, or I want to order pizza.

  14. What a day! We have been watching the festivities for the last 6 hours. This is such a good thing for our state.

  15. Congratulations to Seattle! Happy Birthday Nikki!

Eva, you have our Storm #2. Storm #3 comes through here tonight/tomorrow, then Storm #4 arrives Friday/Saturday. They are both probably headed your way. I'm getting really tired of this globull warming!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sounds like too much Global Warming. Can't they do something about all this snow... in the winter!!!

I stayed home yesterday. Go Hawks! We live near downtown, and the bus routes would be all screwy with so many people and the parade.

  17. Well, happy Friday everyone. Wog, how is Froggy's foot and leg ?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Froggy update: I pushed wheelchair (and Froggy) over to Virginia Mason hospital this morning. Chilly ride, but Froggy was well wrapped with coat, blanket and gloves. Doctor took x-rays of leg. Froggy was so scared. Break is healing, just healing slowly.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Happy to hear Froggy's leg is still healing. Do the docs have any guess as to how log before it will be completely healed? Soon, I hope.

I just looked at a satellite image of North America. Nearly the whole country is covered in snow. We're supposed to get another storm Monday/Tuesday. It sure is pretty, but I'm getting tired of being cold and driving on slippery streets.

No football this weekend. Anybody watching the Olympics?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I guess I'll watch some of the Olympics if I can figure out when things are on that I want to watch. For some reason, I'm not as interested as I used to be. I'm still in football withdrawal :(

I'm glad to hear Froggy's break is healing. One thing that is true about getting older is that EVERYTHING takes longer to heal. I know it's annoying, but at least things are going in the right direction. Take heart, Froggy!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hi Ya'll,
Froggy's break is healing...it's the slow-part that is bad. She gets discouraged, and it still hurts.
We haven't watched much Olympics. Froggy has been reading news about the Sochi and the ridiculous things that happen there: people stuck in bathrooms, water tastes odd, no front desk in hotels, door knobs falling off. Doesn't sound like they prepared for so people to show up.
