Any day we can celebrate our USA, it's a great day!

  1. Happy Sunday, Frogs. I think Blogger dropped some comments from the last thread. Oh, well. Here we are, hopping with each other again.

Dog days of summer are here in OKC. Should be in the high 90's for another week. Wonderful Fall weather will be here soon enough.

I took off work Friday afternoon. Got a haircut then drove around some neighborhoods I'm thinking of moving to after Christmas. What a trip down memory lane that was! Some of the neighborhoods I remember were falling into disrepair when I moved to SoCal, but they are making a comeback now. Made me very happy to see that. My goal is to rent for a year, live in the area, be sure I want to plant myself there, then buy a duplex. It's a lot to think about, a lot of work, but I'm having fun in the process.

Also stopped by my favorite farmstand and bought a lot of local tomatoes. We're at the end of the season, so the tomatoes were starting to get soft and not grocery-store beauties. They taste like Heaven, so I bought bags of them. I'm making tomato sauce again this weekend.

What's everyone up to this weekend?

    1. Hi Surfie, we are just resting at Froggy and 'WOG's house. Sometimes those are the best kind of days. A little rainish and cool in Seattle. We welcome the cool-down. Must be so exciting to look for new place. Wish we could all pile in the car and go with you.

    2. Just imagining you, Froggy and the gang here piling into my car, driving around looking for a new place for me, stopping at a little local shop for some great food. That would be so much fun! (I'll need a bigger car.)

  2. Deer Surfie,
How's your weather Hon? I heard you were possibly going to get some bad weather in the Midwest.
After last year I'm kinda concerned about you Hon.

    1. Thank you so much for your concern, Deer Froggy. Tornado season is long gone from Oklahoma. It is just horribly hot and dry and windy. When I open my door, it feels like I'm stepping into a blast furnace. Staying inside today. Love you!

  3. Good afternoon deer pond friends!

Wog, that sure was a cute picture of the baby with the dog! Thanks, everyone, for the kind words about my granddaughter. She's my DIL's 3rd child, as she has 2 boys from her previous marriage. But, she's my son's 1st child, and he is over the moon about her! He changes diapers, and does everything he can to help. My DIL is breastfeeding Brighton, but she said my son would feed her if he could!

I'm sure enjoying this day off, and I hope you all are too. It's cooling off here, and I am so ready for fall!

I was thinking about this being Labor Day, and how much we owe the hard working Americans who built this country. Today I saw that famous picture "Lunch on a girder", of the men in 1932, sitting high above New York City. Just looking at that picture gives me the heebie jeebies! I can't imagine how they could climb around that high off the ground without falling! My great grandfather was a steel inspector in Portland, OR, and he had to climb on top of the bridge spans to do his inspections. Needless to say, I don't take after him at all. I'm not even comfortable on a stepstool.

Surfie, good luck as you scout out a new place to live. I love it when old neighborhoods are renovated. It's nice to see new life breathed into old homes.

Froggy, how are you? I saw that you commented yesterday, and I was hoping that meant that your hands were doing better.

Wog, I hope and pray that you find a job you enjoy. You have the most positive attitude of anyone I know!

What do you ponders do to distract yourselves from what's happening to our country? (I mean, besides pray.) This weekend I didn't listen to my podcasts of talk radio. Instead, I read a new happy ending novel. It was pure indulgence, but it took my mind off the world for a while. Next, I plan to organize my computer/den/scrapbook room. It's a mess, and I need to get started.

I hope all you deer ponders have a great week!

    Love and prayers from Paget

    1. Paget, you are such a joy at The Pond. Glad you liked the pic of doggy licking the baby. The minute I saw it, I knew that would be our picture. Your son is going to be a great Dad!

Some days I'm not positive. Just have a melt-down and cry. Then I'm okay. But maybe that's a woman-thing. Froggy goes to see her doctor on Thursday. Will be last visit with this doctor. She completed her residency and is going to different hospital. Froggy will get a new doctor.

Yes, wouldn't it be great to go with Surfie on a house hunt. We would all be talking at the same time. What fun we would have!

  4. Hi All...I got home yesterday (Weds) and found a note from Froggy....but no Froggy. We think she had a seizure, and slid out of chair onto floor. When she came to in a few minutes, she called paramedics to rescue her. So she is okay in hospital. I stayed overnight. It may take a couple days for me to get back to The Pond. Everyone be safe. Froggy sends her Love, and said to keep hopping.

I just saw that Joan Rivers didn't make it out of coma.

    4. Hi there. I checked in yesterday afternoon to catch up. Saw that Froggy was taken to hospital. Forgot to copy and paste so my post went bye-bye. I just gave up for the time being.

Sending love and hugs to Froggy and Wog too. I am sad and just want our Froggy to be well.

  5. Back from my trip to Georgia. Exhausting! It was in the high 90's the whole time. Thank goodness my grand neph's 4th bday party was at a water park! It was all I could do to keep my dignity and not just sit on one of the water spouts :) A good time was had by all (approx. 20 3,4, and 5-year-olds). Adults went home with a headache.

That little Nat is something! I could just eat him up (& I did try a few times). Boy, does he have an appetite (guess he's making up for lost time). My niece was popping out one breast or another every 20 minutes. I tried to help as much as possible, but that's the one thing I can't do for him (shades of Paget's son). I held him as much as possible, though, which gave her some relief. He's 16 lbs now! I don't know how my Nikki does it. Her husband doesn't get home until 8pm 3 out of 5 nights and by then she has baby Nathaniel bathed, swaddled and on her hip. 4 year old Isaac is fed, showered and put to bed. Then she gets dinner on the table. Super woman!

Love to all Ponders and now I'm going to catch up on stuff happening here. So sorry to hear that Joan Rivers has died. She made me laugh until I cried. Also makes me even more grateful to have my 90-year-old father still alive and kicking.

  6. I got home Wednesday from visiting my daughter and family. This time I was able to stay a whole nine days. I had gone shopping for school supplies. We have so much more available to us so was easy to help out in that way. We all went to Boyer Park where they were able to wake board with friends. Another day Val took Joel, Cami, Sophie and Rachel to Silverwood for the day with a large group of friends from town. I stayed home to babysit. All in all a very busy week.

  7. Yesterday (Saturday) was Founder's Day here in little Lavallette, NJ. It was dreadfully hot (upper 90's & humid) but I spent a couple of hours hitting the various booths and eating the great food. Luckily, there were plenty of free bottles of water so everyone could stay hydrated. Lots of entertainment for kids made me wish I had my family visiting again, but I bought cute outfits for Isaac & Nathaniel. Hopefully, they'll fit by the time Christmas/Hanukkah rolls around.

The mayor of Lavallette started things off by leading us all in the Pledge of Allegiance. How about that? Unfortunately, afterwards a local young lady was given the honor of singing the National Anthem. The most charitable I can be is to say she was enthusiastic. Her beaming parents were on the stage with her and the crowd clapped politely. I just love local small town stuff :)

Thinking of Froggy and hoping all is well. Let us know when you get a chance, 'Wog.
