...Believe in Rainbows!

  1. Surfie, Gloria, Phooey..
Was so nice to hear from you yesterday.

Surie, I don't think we have Cardinals in Seattle. Froggy loves them. We have seen them on our travels to the East Coast. We had flocks of Robins a month ago when it rained everyday. The Robins came to find the earthworms that came up in the mud around the trees.

Gloria, It's okay if you just come to The Pond to read. We just like to know that everyone is safe and happy. My energy slips away too..even more when it's really hot outside. Froggy has to remind me that maybe my energy is changing because I'm older. My answer is always that I've never been older before so I don't know how much energy I'm supposed to have.

Hi Phooey, wonderful that you and Page will be able to go to graduation get-together. I never did that, and now I'm sorry that I didn't keep up with school friends.

  2. SPEAKING OF LUCK:

No Powerball winner, jackpot grows to $475 million

"A message early Thursday on the multistate lottery's website said the jackpot has soared to $475 million after no tickets matched the winning numbers in Wednesday night's drawing.

The winning numbers drawn Wednesday night: 2, 11, 26, 34, 41 and a Powerball of 32. The next drawing will be held Saturday.

Wednesday's jackpot was considered the third largest in Powerball history and the seventh largest overall. A jackpot of $475 million ranks as the second largest for Powerball and third biggest overall.

Lottery officials expect jackpot totals of this size to continue to climb in shorter amounts of time, thanks in part to a game redesign in January 2012 that increased the odds of winning some kind of prize, but also lowered the possible number combinations to win the Powerball."

  3. I believe in rainbows!! Of course, there needs to be rain first and since we hardly ever get any, rainbows are rare. I love it when I can see one.

Phooey, I loved reading that your old friend finally connected with you. Isn't it amazing how that happens? With all the ways we have of searching for people now, you'd think it would be easier, but it isn't.

I connected with my last college boyfriend about 4 years ago. It grew out of a tragedy, unfortunately. There was a shooting at a place we used to frequent when we were dating and when the news broke, we both got on the local newspaper website & posted comments. I was scrolling through the other comments when I thought there was something familiar about one of them. I logged back on and noted the number of the post and asked if he was who I thought he was. Then I kept refreshing the page. It didn't take long to find out since he was doing the same thing! We;ve been corresponding ever since. We have no plans to meet up though. Too much water under the bridge.

    1. Hi Eva, I thought we deserved a rainbow today. I've never seen one around Seattle, but we used to see them in Denver (even double rainbows.)

It's neat to find someone from a long time ago. I had someone call me when I was in Denver. Was very exciting to talk about our adventures. Then the calls stopped, and I never heard again. It's a mystery.

  4. NEWS FROM THE NEWS:

'WOG says: How do you fire someone who is already resigning? Are you kidding, Mr. President? Do you really think we believe such a stupid story? Have you noticed how O always has a "fall guy" for any problems that might make him look bad?

"President Obama announced Wednesday that acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller would resign in the wake of the agency scandal in which conservative groups were targeted -- though Miller was apparently set to step down anyway.

An official close to Miller told Fox News, shortly after Obama's brief announcement, that the IRS chief was "set to resign the position of acting commission as of early June." He was planning to leave the IRS entirely a "couple of months later, regardless of the current controversy," the source said.

These details were not mentioned by the president as he announced Wednesday evening Miller was resigning."

  5. Page drove through a car wash this morning. When she arrived home realized the front and back seats and floor was soaked with soap and water on the passenger side. She swore the windows and doors were closed. My question is how could she not have noticed water and soap coming in right next to you? Weird.

  6. Rainbows are so inspiring! There's a wonderful passage of Scripture starting at Genesis 9:12 about rainbows.

    You feeling better, Froggy?

I have a theory on how Page didn't notice. When you're going through those things, the water and soap are blasting the car with great force. If the windows weren't up very tight, that water and soap can seep in. I probably wouldn't have noticed either, especially if I was distracted by something else.

I left work an hour early today, on order of my boss Janice. Three of us at work have been suffering with off-the-chart allergies this week. We can't breathe, can't sleep, and are worn out. Love my job. Love Janice like a sister.

Thank God tomorrow is Friday. I'll probably leave at noon when the "have to get it done" stuff is DONE.
