  1. Good Morning, Pond Family,
I'm up early today to start new AARP job at Salvation Army store. Will work three six-hour days a week. That gives me time to look for a permanent job. It will seem odd not to ride the bus, and visit with Froggy today. But she will be fine. They take very good care of her. She has some kind of physical therapy every day. Does your Pond comment box look different? Mine does. I don't like it.

Hope you enjoy today's picture. Looks like the panda program at Chengdu Breeding Station is working very well!

Have you seen the new kitty sensation with the eye patch? Move over Grumpy Cat.

Eva, we'll need an update on your movers. Did you get more stuff? Did Joe get his license? Where are the cars?

  2. Yes, cute is the word for today. Wog, the comment box is different/weird, their software update was not ready for prime time. Hoping your Salvation Army work goes well. I always felt awkward for a few weeks into a new job not knowing the established ritual/routine that was established.
Yeah !, a new season of NCIS tonight.

    1. Hi Phooey,
Panda baby's are one of the most adorable animals on the planet. Seems that Chengdu is doing something right.

  3. Good luck with your job, Wog. Hope you have a great time. Terrific that you will still have time to look for something more permanent. I keep you in my prayers for the absolutely perfect place for you. I thought my job was going to be temporary, and look what happened!

Speaking of which, I'm getting a secretary. She starts Monday. I have to share her with a co-worker. My wish list of what I need taken off my plate was granted, so I'll have time for my boss Janice to start teaching me more of her job (she wants to slowly start working part-time and retire).

Phooey! A brand new season of NCIS! It starts in 40 minutes! Think I heard it is a 2-hour special set in New Orleans and is a jumping off point for a new NCIS New Orleans show. I'm gonna miss Zeva.

This new comment box isn't tall enough. Oh, well. Have a great evening, Ponders.

Wonderful news about your job. A secretary! Maybe someday you'll be the owner.

  4. Yes, this comment box is not good at all.

Good luck with the job, 'Wog!

Joe got his license today after a long slog, but it got done. He got his car registered and his new plates, so he's all set. I'm next. Hopefully, we can do that tomorrow after the truck comes with our stuff which it's supposed to do sometime between 9-10am. We'll see.

Had to take little Puffin to the vet. He just stopped eating and was so lethargic that I couldn't blame it on adjustment problems. We found the closest vet which is over the "big" bridge in Toms River. Luckily, they were in still existence since they had massive damage from Sandy. The vet told me they were doing house calls until a couple of months ago. The place looks a little pasted together, but they have the staff and the equipment and they treated Puff as he has become used to being treated--like a little star. Of course, he wasn't happy about being there, but he stood it bravely. The basics seem okay but he has lost a pound of weight!! He doesn't have the leeway to lose any weight. They'll call back Thursday with the results of his blood and urine tests. My baby Puff! I'm so worried about him.

    1. Eva, Let us know how your baby Puff is doing. I so hope that he'll be okay. You were lucky to find a vet that close. I have often thought that I would like to start a cat boarding service in downtown Seattle. Don't know why they don't have one near the tourist area.

  6. I'm going to have to send an email to Blogger staff that this tiny box to type in is stupid!

First day at AARP job went well. The lights went out and didn't come back for an hour and half. We had emergency lights , but it was just enough that we didn't trip over anything. I ended up with a huge basket of shoes. Had to find places on shelves to put them Finding the room on shelves is the tricky part! Will work Tues, Weds, and Thurs this week. Friday I can go see Froggy again.

  9. Hi Ladies. Hoping everyone's day went well. Last night's NCIS I found difficult to follow, rather convoluted. Anyway, wishing everyone a blessed week.

    1. Hi Phooey, It's funny you would mention NCIS. I fell asleep about half way. Don't know if they play it again. I really wanted to see it.

  10. How was day 2 at the job 'Wog? First day sounded interesting, blackouts and baskets of shoes.

Waiting to hear about Puff's blood & urine tests, but he did eat more today. Frankly, I just brought his dish to wherever he was and stuck it in his face. When I did that, he ate. At least I'm getting food into him which has to be a good thing. On the other hand, does this mean he'll be expecting me to wait on him all the time? Maybe he picked up something in one of the hotel rooms along our drive. My sister-in-law said that after all, how many other pets were in those rooms previously? Or, it just could be that he was more stressed out than I thought about the move and is just now feeling safe enough to really sleep. I guess I should stop trying to guess and wait for the results. They should come in tomorrow.

The rest of our shipment came today and with it, the rest of our bed. We didn't put it together yet, but we'll at least be sleeping on our own mattress tonight!

I'm a real New Jersey-ite now. I got my license and my new plates. I have 14 days to get the car inspected and then that motor vehicle stuff is done. Good!

    1. Eva, that's exciting that you are now officially from New Jersey. Also exciting that you finally got all your furniture. Didn't think about the babies being stressed from the move. It really was a lot of changes for them.

  11. Hi All..
Job went well. I'm adjusting to working again. I work from 9am til 3:30 for three days a week. Today they brought in a bunch of bins full of bric-a-brac. Baseball gloves, dishes, pots and pans, picture frames, Halloween decorations, games and puzzles, etc...

Called Froggy when I got home. She is fine. I told her what's on TV Said she needs money for food snacks. I'll be going back on Friday.

My feet hurt. Going to take off shoes, eat something, and park in front of TV. That's what I did last night, then fell asleep before NCIS was over.

  12. VIRGINIA BEACH,VA -SEAGULL SAVED:

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A seagull is recovering after being rescued from power lines near the Lesner Bridge. The bird was stuck for more than 24 hours, but was rescued Thursday morning.

Virginia Dominion Power used a helicopter to free the bird, and it was taken to the Virginia Beach SPCA. Executive Director of the VBSPCA Sharon Adams said they are monitoring the bird, which has a badly broken wing.

"It's warm. It's hydrated. Once it wakes up, it will have Spaghettio's and hot dogs, which [seagulls] love," Adams said. "Then we'll make an assessment about what can be done in our medical clinic."

    (snip)
Some say the rescue is too much fuss for a seagull, but not Chandler.

"I'm a Christian, and I believe we are all here on this earth to not only take care of ourselves, but also the animals God created, and this is why I do it," she said. "Somebody has to do it, and we can't just leave it up there defenseless and powerless and suffering."
