  1. Good Morning Ponders,
What's up? Government is "running" again. Don't know if that is good news or bad news. Heard that Hillary threw some put-downs at Biden. We have football tonight. Seahawks are somewhere at 5pm. (PT)

  2. Hi everybody. How's dear Froggy doing? Hope she feels like coming back to the Pond soon. We miss her!

Life these days is all about my crazy job, concern for Karen and for Janice as her mom slips away. Big cold front supposed to hit around noon tomorrow. Am bringing my tropical elephant ear plant inside tonight.

    Tomorrow's Friday! Yay!

  3. Howdy everyone, we are dog-sitting again this weekend. Don't expect much sleep but, can nap. Love and pray for everyone all day and night.

  4. Hi Phooey and Surfie,
I couldn't come to The Pond earlier. Was helping Sis get fed and get settled for the night. I think Froggy slept through most of our Seahawks football game. We have a really good team this year.
I'm tired. Going to bed soon. Love to Everyone.

  7. Ponders, please forgive me for being absent for so long. I have been residing in a pit of despair. Don't go there, it is hard to come back. To many things have happened lately to people I care about and what is going on in DC is hard to watch. Hard to encourage others when I am discouraged and sick at heart.

Wog and Frog, I recently came across some info that might benefit you. While going through paper work for my mother in law we found some vague references to something called "attendance allowance," "caregivers allowance" and "caregivers re imbursement." It would be for Washington State. I think that you would have to find out from DSHS. None of us know anything about it. That is to say DH and BIL. I was thinking that it may help you.

  8. Gloria, I was worried about you. You haven't chimed in for so long! Hang on. I know it's rough. I feel it, too. Everywhere I turn there is only bad news. Personally and worldwide. It's a bad time and we've just got to get through it. At least that's what I tell myself. Lately, I just want to stay in bed.

  9. Hi Everyone, First a comment, then a Froggy update.
Gloria, about caregiver allowance, I need to check into that. Thanks for the info. Sometimes I put things off because I get scared to ask.

We'll be using our flower picture all weekend. Thursday I went to work my Salvation Army store job. When I got home, Froggy was still in bed asleep. Not a good sign. She was groggy. Couldn't walk with walker. I got her into wheelchair. Then Friday morning she said her chest hurt. Called ambulance, and we are at Virginia Mason cardiac unit. They are taking good care of her, and will do test today.

I am writing from computer in hospital waiting room. I spent night sleeping in one of those "comfy" hospital chairs. The nurses and aides do their best to make me comfortable...pillows, blankets.
I'll check in at The Pond when I can. Froggy doesn't want me to leave the room. She is so nice, but scared.

    1. Oh no, oh no. Be sure and tell her we're praying hard. I'm praying for you too, 'Wog. You're an angel in disguise, you know.

  10. Wog, I am so sorry that you have to go through this. I am so sorry that our Froggy is going through this. I wish that there was something I could do. Will continue to pray. Sending love to both of you.

  11. I always know I have my Pond Family to help me through anything. I am writing from home now. Had to pick up a couple things then walk back one block to hospital. I get to stay overnight. They gave me a chair and blanket and pillow to use.

Froggy had the "cath" procedure this afternoon, and seems in good spirits. They did the procedure through her wrist. Most surgeons go in through the groin to the heart. I will let her know that everyone is sending blessings and prayers.

  12. Our Froggy is going to be fine. They will send her home Sunday or Monday. She said to let you know how much she misses all of you.

    Lovies...

  15. Deer Family..
Hospital is keeping our Froggy til Monday. I don't want all of you to worry, but we can always use your love and prayers.

Froggy has a heart problem that has taken her to the hospital once before 3-4 years ago. It's called "tako subo." Can't tell you much about it from hospital computer. It causes water buildup in the heart. They have given her a water pill to control that. She is not in pain from heart, but her back hurts from the hospital bed!

Everyone be safe and enjoy your weekend. Monday comes back too soon. Love from Froggy and 'WOG.

  16. Oh my goodness! Water buildup in the heart? I hope the diuretic works. She'll have to stay close to a bathroom. I know what that's like. My blood pressure med has 50% diuretic and it keeps me going and going and going.

You both are in my thoughts and prayers always.

  17. We have another little gator in our pond. If I stand next to the shore, it floats, staring at me. If I move sideways, it turns and continues to stare. Rather eerie. Finally, it will cooling here during week, all our neighbors are thrilled. Health and peace to all Ponders.

  18. Howdy,
YAY, we are home from hospital. Our Froggy is in good spirits, but tired. She is sleeping, and I am catching up on laundry.

I am trying to write this email so that it makes sense. Our Froggy has takotsubo, or ballooning of the heart. The Japanese word takotsubo translates to "octopus pot," resembling the shape of the left ventricle when it balloons. Don't know if it can happen anywhere in the heart. Froggy's is right at the bottom. Sometimes it's called "broken heart syndrome." It can reverse itself in about a week, and the ballooning diminishes. They don't know much about it, but it can definitely be caused by stress. I didn't read that the heart gets water in it, but last time this happened, it had water in it. This is only the second time this has happened, and this time heart was clear.

  19. So Phooey, what do you do about the alligators? On the news, we saw the 6-foot Florida alligator in front of Walmart. And we have read stories about them in people's basements, swimming pools, etc. I see that you have a "Florida Alligator Hotline."

Eva, are you getting snow back East? It looks terribly cold on the news. It should warm up some after this cold snap before winter sets in. How's little Bambu? We worry about him, but know that he is well loved by you and Joe.

Surfie, How's Karen and Janice? We are praying for both of them. Are you getting that cold weather too? We are cold up here in Washington State, but not frosty. Haven't seen the sun for a few days, but that's pretty typical Seattle.

Gloria and Paget, hope all is well with both of you Ponders. We are all pretty busy lately.

    1. No snow yet, 'Wog, but the air has that smell to it. Well, snow with a tinge of salt air, I guess. It finally feels like the season has changed. It was gorgeous today. Not a cloud in the sky. Bright sunshine and very crisp air. I've missed this.

Bambu spent yesterday inside the comforter. First time he's done that since we've been here. Inside has always been Puffin's domain. I think we're going to have to take him in to the vet for a little look-see. It's probably nothing, but I think he may have caught a cold. I'm probably overreacting, but I want to make sure he's okay.

I'm so glad Froggy is home with her deflated balloon heart! That Japanese word is really something. Octopus Pot? Wow! No run-of-the-mill problems for our Frog Queen. I hope you're taking care of yourself, 'Wog. Seriously!

  20. Good news about Froggy. Prayers the ballooning diminishes and she enjoys the rest of her long life without it reappearing. We can all certainly understand that this could have been caused by stress! So great to hear she is in good spirits!

How are you doing, Wog? You've been through a lot lately, too. Hope you are taking care of yourself.

Janice's mom passed away over the weekend. Her funeral is tomorrow. Of course, she is sad and cries from time to time. But she is also relieved that her mom's horrible mental and physical dissent into Alzheimer's is over. She came in for about an hour late today to approve the payroll numbers so I can get that ball rolling. She was having a hard time figuring out how to navigate the State's new website for processing our withholding tax return because she couldn't concentrate on it. We figured it out together while Joe stood in her office cracking jokes and making both of us laugh out loud. Janice will be just fine, and Mom is totally fine right now, but still please say a little prayer for her to get through tomorrow.

    Love to all!

    1. Poor Janice. Tomorrow will be tough, but you're right about the relief. It's horrible to watch and wait, knowing the end is near, wanting your loved one to be out of pain and yet, wanting to hold on as long as possible. Extra tough when a woman loses her mother, one of the two original tethers to this earthly ground.

    2. Surfie, sorry to hear about Janice's mom. It's always a sadness and hurt when you lose a loved one. She is lucky to have you nearby.

Eva, time to get our Bambu a winter coat and ear muffs, maybe a nose mitten. You are such a great Cat-Mom.

I'm looking for a new picture for tomorrow, then off to bed.
