  2. Hi Eva,
Glad you like the owl. They are such an interesting group of birds. You and Phooey and Surfie will always be up before us West Coasters. Froggy was up early this morning, and we made plans for the day. Got her back to bed. I'm going to work 4 hours this afternoon. I'm trying to keep her stress down.

  3. Hi Everyone, Phooey, Eva, Gloria, Paget, Surfie...
We are having a good morning. I'm leaving for my job at Salvation Army. Will only work 4 hours today. Froggy got up for a visit this morning and snuggled back in bed. Snuggle is the right word today. It's chilly here.

I'll drop back to Pond this evening.

  4. Wog, sounds like you and Froggy are getting back into a good routine. So glad she's home to recuperate, you can go to work, and things aren't so stressful. We love our Sisters in Seattle!

We've been having beautiful fall weather. Sunny, high about 70 with low about 45. That is supposed to change right in time for Halloween. First big cold front, freeze and rain on our way. I'm enjoying this great weather while it lasts.

Joe and I went to Janice's mom's funeral today. It was a 1-1/2 hour drive each way to this TEENY little town way out in the middle of nowhere. Small church packed to the rafters. The service was somewhat formal (Lutheran) but beautiful and very uplifting. Janice got wobbly a couple of times, but she will be fine. Her mom, Verla, was the salt of the earth. Verla was born in 1918 in that teeny little town but in her 95 years she was such a force for the good on this earth. Janice didn't fall far from the tree.

I've worked for Joe and Janice for almost 2 years. Janice and I are like sisters. Joe and I have a great work relationship, but I wasn't sure what it would be like to spend the entire day with him in the same car and at a funeral. We talked about so many things, personal and work-related. He is still the owner of the company and I am still his employee. But we will, I think, be more blunt with each other at work about what needs to happen and not happen. I'm making no sense now. It was a good day.

Funny thing: We all wear jeans & t-shirts in the office. I wear very little make-up. When Joe and I showed up at work ... Joe in his Sunday finest, me in my suit with hair done and full make-up on ... people had to take a second and third look to recognize us! It was hilarious.

I leave you all deer Pond family with one of the many passages of Scripture from today:

"He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways."

Sleep well tonight, Pond Family. Cast your cares upon the Lord.

  5. Hi Ladies, Page had the computer all day doing insurance stuff. Haven't read any news today and really didn't miss it. Starting to yawn, hopefully will stay awake long enough to watch NCIS. Love all !

  6. 'Night Pond Family,
Surfie, thanks for sharing about Janice and the funeral. It's always a difficult time, but we are there for her and the family and friends.

Phooey, we watched the new NCIS. Couldn't follow the plot. Kept dozing. I caught a cold, and Sis gave me some cold medicine. Guess it's my turn.

Froggy even took a short walk (with walker) down the hall of our apartment. She is working so hard to get better. She sends her love. I am leaving owl picture up for a couple days. Just don't have the energy to find a new pic.

  7. Surfie, thanks for the long post about the funeral and about Verla. Now, that's a name you don't hear often. I love hearing about REAL people. You know what I mean. I had to laugh at the part about being dressed up and wearing make-up. One of the things I like the most about being on this little shore town island is not feeling the need to put make-up on whenever I leave the house. It's such a relief. Of course, I don't want to get too far gone. I'm not sure if my husband will want to look at me in my sweats and without make-up every day.

  8. Hi All...
If it weren't for our Pond, I wouldn't know what day it is. Eva, you were up early for the West Coast. It was 6:15 here. Nice of you to get our day started. My cold is better, but not much energy. I'm going to work early and come home early. Made Froggy a sandwich and an applesauce for lunch. Can't have starving Froggy's at home.

    1. Hi Phooey,
Hope you and Page are well. Seems that everyone at The Pond is doing great. I worked too hard today. My body is tired. Now Froggy is talking care of me. She told me to go back to bed. Just couldn't have a better Sister. I'm crawling back to bed now. Hopefully I'll be better in the morning.

  10. Such great news to hear that Froggy took a spin with the walker today. You go, girl! We love you!

Wog, hope you are feeling better. Are you feeling better?

Eva, I laughed about you being where you are and not having to get all "gussied up" every day. When I lived on the beach, it was easy to go around town wearing sweats and ugg boots or flip-flops, with no make-up. All the other local ladies looked just like me! Glad I don't have to put on a suit and heels every day. But I realized yesterday that I can try just a little harder in the mornings even though I do work in a hydraulic manufacture/repair shop.

Tomorrow is Janice's birthday. I'm cooking an apple/pear crisp and taking it to work for her tomorrow. It will make her happier than any cake or card.

    Love you all, Pond Family.
