  1. New way to shop at Amazon...Robots shop for you!
Amazon's New Robot Army Is Ready to Ship
TRACY, California — Dec 1, 2014 / By BRANDON BAILEY: AP technology writer

"Now the e-commerce giant boasts that it has boosted efficiency ? and given workers' legs a break ? by deploying more than 15,000 wheeled robots to crisscross the floors of its biggest warehouses and deliver stacks of toys, books and other products to employees.

"Amazon says it processed orders for 36.8 million items on the Monday after Thanksgiving last year, and it's expecting "Cyber Monday" to be even busier this year."

  2. Double Drats. We ran out of holiday food. Still have some pie and ice cream, so I think we can make it to the next holiday. Froggy wants me to make some more stuffing. It tasted better after all the flavors mixed together in the refrigerator.

I woke up this morning thinking about Ferguson. The "light bulb" went on in my head, and I realized that our government is loving all the chaos. Why? Because the great "o" does everything for the vote! Even with the truth about what happened, the chaos continues, and our gov't just fans the flames, and counts the votes.

  3. I'm trying so hard to not get freaked out by the awful state our beloved country is in. It's tough, though, since we're inundated daily with the idiocy of our elected leaders. I need to get out and do some shopping, but the weather is so awful. It's wet and cold and windy. Maybe I'll just spend tomorrow in bed with Bambu. At least it will be warm :)

Glad to hear your DH is home, EC!!!

    1. Hi Eva, good plan. Stay home with Bambu. I don't like to go out in the cold anymore either. In Denver I used to love to put chains on the car and drive around in the snow.

  4. Love to all my Pond friends. Well, tomorrow is the day.... it is the day our local Walmart opens!!!!! I don't know if I am up to going but Scott is looking forward to it. I try to avoid crowds.

I found this on another site:
"On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and complete narcissistic moron." - H.L. Mencken, the Baltimore Evening Sun, July 26, 1920
I think it applies to our situation today.
I wonder what the rest of the year will hold and what is in store for next year.

    1. Gloria, you make our Froggy laugh. I read her the H.L. Mencken. She agrees with the rest of us that the statement has come true.

Is the new Walmart far from your house? I have to go to Renton to find a Walmart. Downtown Seattle doesn't have much; they put everything in the shopping malls. Seattle has a Macy's, Nordstroms, Ross Dress for Less, a small Target. They even closed our Sears, and all the popular fast foods except for MacDonalds.

I came home this afternoon and fell asleep on the sofa til just a half hour ago. Froggy and I will play Wheel of Fortune and then Jeopardy on TV. Talk with you later.

  5. Howdy, Ponders, This is a Thanksgiving Story.
"What are you doing, 'WOG?" you ask. "'I'm tearing up several loaves of bread into smaller pieces for stuffing," I say. "Why?" you ask. "Because Froggy liked my Thanksgiving stuffing, and there is none left.. So I am making more this weekend. Some people whom we shall not name can't wait til Christmas dinner for more."
    The End.

    1. I love stuffing too. I end up making 2 kinds with - and without. With onions and celery and without. Scott has absolutely cannot eat onions and doesn't like celery. There are only the 3 of us. One of my fave left over dishes is turkey enchiladas.

  6. I have the TV on while I'm tearing up bread into smaller pieces. The news says that Charles Manson will marry quite soon. What poor idiot girl would do this??? She looks like all the Manson "girls." What kind of stupid laws do we have that permits serial killers and mass murderers to have anything?

    1. Hi, Wog. You are so right about her being a poor idiot girl. She probably wasn't even alive when he did his heinous deeds.

    2. Gloria, don't you think Manson's "fiancé" looks like his other girls?

  7. This is Friday already.

I have been watching what is going on all over the country. It seems as though daily more and more is being revealed. Fine with me. Shine light on darkness. Yesterday I saw that the administration is contemplating sanctions on Israel. They say it is because of the continued building in the West Bank. I wonder who came up with that harebrained idea? When things like this come out it hurts my heart.

    1. Gloria, Friday came along so fast, just like December came so fast. I need to read about sanctions against Israel. I just can't keep up with the news, but Israel is special to our hearts.

A bridge too fur! Security guards forced to rescue stranded puppies after they follow tourists on to 600ft bridge... but become terrified by glass floor

"Security guards had to rescue a family of dogs who became stranded on a 590ft-high glass bridge in China. The group, including several puppies, became spooked when crossing part of the bridge that has glass panels covering the floor. It is understood the animals followed tourists onto the suspension bridge at the famous Shiniuzhai Scenic Spot.

  10. Good morning Deers! Just spent a while reading all the posts I've missed lately. We've all been so busy! It brought smiles to read about EC's hubby being home, Gloria getting a Walmart, Frog and Wog happy and cooking, Eva's dear Bambu being fine, and seeing Sir Phoo chime in!

The weather here has been down right weird. For the past couple of weeks, it's snowing or sleeting one day and a few days later it's 60 degrees, then back into the deep freeze. As of this morning's news, we're looking at 10 days of 60 degrees. My sinuses are a wreck, but I'm not complaining. I'll take 60 degree weather in December. Reminds me of December in SoCal.

Don't recall if I told ya'll this or not. My sister is going to be a 1st time grandmother. We found out on Monday that the baby is a girl, and is going to be named after my sister. She is over the moon! Baby is due April 30. The thing that makes us all even happier is that my nephew (sister's son) has been a hot mess most of his life until he met a young woman at work, they fell in love, and his life turned for the good on a dime. It has been a stunning and joyful transformation to watch. What a gift from God and answer to so many prayers!

OK. About shopping. I don't shop much for Christmas. Hallelujah! My siblings and I don't give gifts to each other. We no longer give gifts to the nieces and nephews because they are all successful adults. We spend our Christmas shopping money on our own children and grandchildren. The whole family gets together a week before Christmas for a big family party. We bring family food, family pictures, and have a great time together. Gifts for the wee ones only!

I'm buying gifts for my brother's 2 grandchildren. Am sending my son and his fiancé the only thing they asked for: a cookbook of my best recipes. (I'm tucking in a few of my husband's things that I think my son will love, as well as a shopping gift card for his fiancé.)

If I'm not around here a lot in the coming weeks, it will not be because I'm frantically shopping. I will be frantically working! This is the last business month of the year for the small, family-owned company I work for. So much to do! I will be working long hours, and loving every second of it. I. Love. My. Job. Thank you, Lord!

Love you Deers. As usual, I talk too much!

  11. Hello pond friends,

I've been reading all your interesting posts this week. I love to hear about your lives. My life has been very busy lately. We're getting into year end at my work too. (I sympathize with you, Surfie!) By the time I get home, I'm too tired to get on the computer. I thought I'd take some time now and catch up.

Have you ever taken a road trip on Thanksgiving? We did for the first time. The drive was 5 hours across WA state to Anacortes to see my daughter and her family. It surprised me that there was hardly anyone on the road! We made up for it on the drive home on Sunday. Bumper to bumper traffic all the way home. It was so much fun to see how much our grandson had grown in the last five months! Today is Kaden's 2nd birthday, but we celebrated last Saturday. Elmo is his favorite character right now. We bonded as he sat on my lap watching Elmo videos on my iPad. That was the only time he actually sat still.

Froggy, it really warms my heart to see you back at the pond! I hope you are on the road to recovery.

Wog, I read the story of the puppies in China. I sure hope they find homes! I wouldn't even have attempted to cross that bridge!

Gloria, I liked your H.L. Mencken comment too. It just amazes me that more people haven't woken up to what's happening to our country. Here we finally have the congress and the senate next year, and Boehner and McConnell are already going against the peoples wishes. Sometimes I convince hubby to turn off Fox news, and watch "house hunters" or anything that will take my mind off the state of our country. I've had to increase the dose on my blood pressure pills, so I need to increase my exercising to blow off some of this steam!

I better go to bed. It's late. Thinking of all of you deer pond friends.

    Love from Paget
