for the Green Bay Packers

  1. Howdy Ponders, this is the Big-Game Day to decide who goes to the Super Bowl. The Green Bay Packers play in Seattle at noon Seattle-time. Our Seahawks and Fans are ready! We'll be playing in the rain and mud! Makes the game more interesting. The Packers came to town yesterday to practice playing on a wet field, or rather "soggy" field. The second game today is Indianapolis Colts playing the Patriots in New England. GO 'HAWKS!

    1. Wow, Froggy, Wog and Gloria - Did you hear us screaming from across the state? I swear, who would have thought the Seahawks would pull it off? Seattle had the biggest NFL comeback in a playoff game, ever! Until the last 3 minutes of the game, I thought Seattle was over. Amazing. :) Super bowl, here we come!

That's all I have to say today.

Love to the frogponders, from Paget

  2. Another WOW from Seattle...We thought the Seahawks lost. Was an amazing ending. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Super Bowl here we come!

  3. Unbelievable game! Joe & I were screaming along with you all. We didn't have a favorite in this game, but it was such an amazing finish! Congratulations to all of Seattle. You deserve it! Now, on to the Super Bowl.

  4. Eva, glad you and Joe enjoyed the game. Endings like that are what makes football so much fun. I really thought the Seahawks had lost. Froggy always tells me that is there's time on the clock, they can score...and they did! We could hear horns honking and people yelling outside on the street. I wore my Seahawks t-shirt to work the next day. Still can't believe that we are going to the Super Bowl.

How's the house hunting going? Maybe it will be a relief not to live in the middle of all the summer tourists. All those beach towns in California get over run in the summer. Speaking of summer...I saw on news that Florida has some really warm days. Phooey and EC, we "Ponders of the Cold Weather" are jealous of your nice days.

  5. We just got back from seeing American Sniper. What a great film!! What an amazing man!! First time we've been to see a movie in a theater in, maybe, 5 or 6 years. It was well worth it.

House hunting is depressing. We found an adorable place that would have been perfect except that someone else got to it first. We have a few others to look at, but a storm is coming in this weekend, so I don't know if we'll be able to get to them. At least no-one else will either.

    1. Hi Eva, I would love to see "American Sniper." I looked it up on the Internet, and when I read the ending, I cried. So sad. I didn't realize til then that it is a true story.
Too bad about that one house. There must be another house that's even better just waiting for you. We've been seeing that a bad storm was headed your way. Stock up on cat food. I always told Froggy "You can run out of people food, but you can't run out of cat food."

  6. Hello Ponders! Lord love a duck (spoken with my granny Beulah's best Okie accent) my life has been so very busy. Where does the time go?

Eva, hope you and Joe weather the storm coming your way in good shape. If you two can look at any real estate, look at it Saturday! And please let us know how you are doing during the storm.

Can we talk about the whole football air pressure thing? Our society/culture is so poisoned with sleaze and corruption that it overwhelms me at times. Pick a spot: Oval Office, NFL, local city council. At every level, across our society/culture, people cheat and lie and steal and spin their story. I am sick and tired of it. Metaphorically speaking: I hope the American Sniper success is encouraging millions of we honorable people across the world to stand up and publicly push back against the corruption. Enough already!

Now, about me! My brother called me at work today, around 11:00, to say he saw on his news feed at work that my apartment building was on fire. PANIC! I turned on the work TV and got on the internet. Could see from "breaking news" that whatever was happening was on the opposite side of the complex and was under control. A lot rattled, I focused and went back to work. All the while thanking God for renter's insurance!

Here's what really happened: Our daily walk security person saw something he thought was iffy, called the police to check it out, local news monitors those phone calls and immediately sent a crew and put an alert on their website. All of a sudden, on the news, there was a fire at my apartment! A meth lab had blown up! Residents were being evacuated! No such thing happened, but a media frenzy ensued. Seriously? Most journalists are qualified to do minimum wage jobs.

Security saw an undelivered package sitting on a porch and wanted it checked out.

Local news stations got a HUGE dose of "get your stupid act together" from me today.

Getting in the face of educated morons is becoming my new hobby.

  7. Wow. That storm marched up the East coast really fast! Eva, are you OK?

  8. Good Morning Surfie, Your life is just tooo exciting some days. You need to start writing that book...in your free time. The "free time" should give you a chuckle to start your day. I don't know much about meth labs except that they can blow up. Froggy and I probably don't have to worry about a meth lab in our senior-housing apartment.

Eva and Joe must be tired of snow and storms by now. Any updates on Magdalene? Ponders want to know. Froggy got up early (5am in Seattle), so I got up too. We are watching old shows of Dr. Phil. Not much to pick from on Sat or Sun mornings. I'll be back later.

  9. Holy Moly, Surf! You do lead a roller coaster of a daily existence!

We're fine, but I'm staying inside today, ALL day. Joe has a band rehearsal (he has a gig coming up) later this morning. Supposedly, the temps will be in the upper 30's and it'll just be raining. It's raining now which is making the snow all slushy--yuck. We got lucky because the storm was moving so quickly.

'Wog, you'd love American Sniper. I hope it wins Best Picture. It deserves to (also because it would drive the Hollywood lefties crazy).

One thing Tom Brady said that I agree with: this isn't ISIS. No-one is dying. He's right, but cheating is cheating.

    1. Eva, the Tom Brady comment is exactly the point I tried to make. Cheating and lying and spinning the narrative to cause people to look at another shiny object (this isn't ISIS) is the norm. It has got to stop. WE have to make it stop.

    2. I can finally reply, but have lost track of all the posts. The DH ripped his knee out in Lynchburg, Va, the day before Thanksgiving, he had reconstructive surgery on of all days, Christmas Eve, he went to the surgeon on Friday and it will be another 30 days before rehab, so then my computer monitor decided it would flash points of lights giving me a major eye strain headache, so have been off the 'net. I really feel for Froggy's leg injury, I can't believe what a 1 second fall can do. DH now has a walking brace instead of the straight leg velcro thing and is using a cane instead of the crutches. He can move 30 degrees, driving him nuts and taking me with him, grrrrrr. I don't follow football although the DH played high school center, I am with Surfie's above post, cheating is cheating.
I want you girls to know, you have a new citizen, she was born December 27th in Seattle, she is our 4th little grand, not grand child, we didn't have kids, but my brother has 2 grandsons, and now my brother in law has a grandson and our FIRST little girl born out on your coast. What out !!

  10. Good Morning Pond Family, I tried to get up early to put up new post. But alas just couldn't drag myself out of the warm bed.

EC, so sorry about DH. Sounds like he's trying really hard to get better. It just takes time. New babies always make the world a better place, and brings joy to the family. First baby girl. Let us know babies name.

I agree. Cheating is cheating. There is no other way to say it. The low-air footballs sounds like cheating to me. Someone on TV pointed out that the quarterback would know how he likes the football. No one is going to change the air unless the quarterback wanted it.

  11. Hello Pond Friends,

Welcome to EC's new grand! It's great to have a new frog pond baby girl in our state!
Sorry about your DH. I know my hubby still deals with daily pain from a torn tendon 5 years ago.

I'm trying to get myself in gear today, as weekends are when I can get things accomplished. We're dealing with hubby's dad and step mom who should be in an assisted living facility. Long story, and I won't bore you with the details. It's just exhausting, and we want the best for them, but can't care for them 24/7 when we're at work all day.

Speaking of exhausted; I feel so tired lately. The only thing I've changed is a new BP water pill. It's definitely brought my BP down, but I have no energy. I guess I'll call my doctor. I really need to exercise more, but now I'm too tired. It's a Catch 22.

Funny story - I was shopping at Fred Meyers (1-stop shopping!) yesterday, and was looking at the Seahawk shirts. One lady (older than me) started chatting, and said last year she wore her Seahawks shirt to church, and at the end of the service she jumped up and said, "Go Hawks!" She plans to do the same thing next Sunday, since it worked so well last time! :)

I wish you all a wonderful week!

    Love and prayers from Paget

    1. it was supposed to be Watch Out, the kids named her Arlo. I don't get it but was not asked, LOL

    2. EC, at least you'll have an adorable little girl to spoil, no matter what the name.

  12. Congrats, EC!! A new baby grand is cause for great celebration. Arlo, huh? Well, I don't get it either, but there's something cool about a girl named Arlo :) Your poor DH. At least he isn't out driving in this weather!

I'm going to try and get to the grocery store this morning. I should have gone yesterday, but they said the really bad stuff wouldn't start until after noon. Well, I don't like the looks of things right now. The wind is really howling. It's probably worse (as it always is) on the Island. Once I get off, the roads at least should be clear until later.

I'll check back later if we still have power.

    1. We don't have snow, but man was the wind fierce. My computer was an old e-machine, so when the flat screen went flickering, we went to BadBoys Computer today for a whole new unit. Also need a scanner/printer, but they recommended Brothers, so am checking Amazon.
These old e machines went from Professional XP to this hateful Windows 7 and don't owe us any money. I had the DH's totally wiped and am on it now for news, youtube, and this blog. My machine that I use for bills, True The Vote, etc. really needed to be upgraded. So after that wonderful experience s/o, I got to go to the dentist for a debridement, then need two crowns, two filings, maybe a root canal, I am just loving it, money flying out the door and DH on workers comp. Looked up the baby name, ARLO, it means hill and is of German origin, but usually for boys. Who knows what they were thinking. But she is healthy, beautiful and the parents are thrilled, as is my BIL & SIL. Unless they come to Florida, we probably will never meet, but the Granma & Pa said they would send pictures using Skype ! Anyone here use that ? I don't know a thing about it. I am whipped, so signing off for now.

  13. Hl Ya'll...just a quick note. Froggy has been doing too much hopping. She slipped yesterday and I call the ambulance. She's okay. Walking over now to check on her. Hospital is only two blocks away. Paget, we got the surprise. So darn cute! Froggy will love it. I'll write when I get a chance. Love you all.

  14. FROGGY UPDATE...I shoulda kept my mouth shut. I packed to stay the night at hospital with Froggy. When I got there, she was waiting for shuttle to take her home. Got her home, she opened surprise box from Paget. A very special, cute Frog ornament. Loved it. Thank you Paget. You are so thoughtful. Froggy placed it on top of her computer desk where she can see it. We watched Judge Judy, and Froggy crawled back into her warm bed. She was tired. Sometimes you don't get much sleep at hospital. There is always someone listening to your lungs and heart, or slapping blood pressure cuff on arm, or poking around for blood. I'm glad she is home and feeling better.

    1. So glad to hear that Froggy is home! I was hoping the frog would remind her of the gang here at the pond, and cheer her up. He is a goofy looking frog, but I thought he was cute.

  15. Welcome home, Froggy. Paget, you are such a dear friend. Congratulations, EC! Nothing better than a brand new baby in the family!

I'm thinking about Eva and Joe. You are in our prayers. Hope you stay safe and warm, and that the power doesn't go out.

It was 70 today. Supposed to get up to 75 the next couple of days. Weird weather. But "they say" our winter here in flyover country will arrive February and March. We'll see.

    Stay safe, Eva and Joe.

    1. Hi Surfie, Wow, that is crazy weather! It's grey and drizzly here and in the 40's. I'm happy that we've missed the snow so far this year. My co-worker's wife is from the Ukraine, and she wants to move east where they have 4 seasons. I told co-worker, we have 4 seasons here. No, she wants the winter with lots of snow, like she had back home. Each to their own, I guess!

  16. I think this big blizzard was a bust! Yes, there's snow (it's still snowing), but nowhere near what they were predicting. Just as well. Joe gets a day off and is now still under the covers with Bambu. Bambu is thrilled to have his daddy with him.

    I can't believe I forgot to mention Bambu's birthday on the 25th. He's now 19 years old!!!!!

EC, I skype with my niece. It's fantastic when you can't be with loved ones. I feel as though I'm seeing the babies grow up as close as I can without actually being there. Nathaniel now has 4 teeth on top, two on the bottom and two more coming in. He also is trying to walk! He can stand on his own for up to 10 seconds. My oh my, does time pass quickly. My niece, Nikki, is having a little party on the 31st to celebrate the day he came home from the hospital.

Love to all and Froggy, keep the hopping to a minimum for awhile :)

    1. How do you Skype? I am getting a new PC in 1-2 weeks , don't have a land line. Is it something you can just use with the PC? More money flying out the doors, our Shiloh has a growth under his right leg, the vet found another one on his butt, so he is scheduled for next Thurs. surgery. With my mouth going south, the DH still not recovered or working, the computers crapping out, and now Shi, I never would have had Lowes put in the new attic stairs. Well just call me a zitch, at least here ya'll understand when it rains , it pours. Thankfully no snow.
I am SO GLAD that Froggy is home, it makes all the difference in recovery.
I am waiting to hear about Eva and Joe's new digs, it is exciting to get a new place, even if the move itself is a pain.

      Delete
    2. Oh no, poor Shiloh! Keep us posted on the surgery.

Skype is free, so that's good. You just have to set it up. I don't know how, but it has something to do with sending an invite to the one you want to skype with and when that person accepts, you're connected. I'm sure you can figure it out once you get the new PC.

We have a couple of places to look at. One is a decent rent and is on the Barrier Island, but isn't in great shape. The other is expensive and just inland, but would be a real house (as opposed to a beach house). I guess it depends on how desperate we end up. I'll keep everyone informed.
