  1. Don't forget to change your clock. I vote to leave the time alone. Pick one hour ahead or one hour behind, and leave it alone. We do get a vote, don't we?

    "Hilliary, Billary, dock.
The Dem ran up the clock.
    The clock struck won...
    The Hill fell down
    Hilliary, Billary, dock"

Is that how the poem goes?

Surfie, so glad you are finally getting better weather. What a miserable winter! Eva and Joe are still waiting for a little snow melt so they can look at a new place to live.

    Happy Birthday, Gloria.
You go Girl...Have a wonderful celebration. We love parties at The Pond. Tell us everything. Ponders want to know.

Later...I better get a start on changing those clocks. We have at least five, and a couple watches. Let's see: microwave, stove, bedrooms, living room, and on and on. Then by the time you get to the last clock, the first clocks are now two minutes ahead.

  3. Hello pond friends,

I wanted to stop by and say "Happy Birthday!" Gloria! I hope you've had a great day!

Also, hello to all of you deer friends! I've been busy with elderly in-laws who need to be in a assisted living facility, but refuse. We're hoping to get them some daily help so they can stay in their home.

I've been checking in everyday, just haven't had the energy to connect with the computer.

    Glad to hear from Phooey!

Wog and Froggy; hope you're enjoying nice weather in Seattle! It was 70 over here today.

I'm thinking of Eva and all that snow...stay safe!

    It's time for bed.

    Goodnight, and love from Paget

    1. Love ya, Paget. It's always a treat to hear from you. Yes, Sis and I have been loving the sunshine...which may be replaced with rain tomorrow. A few of the residents have started the vegetable garden downstairs. Froggy's snapdragons just pop up on their own now. Lots of flowers blooming and the ornamental pear trees are covered with white blossoms. There are two trees outside of our window, but the flowers bother Froggy's allergies.

I'm tired today from the time change. Just can't keep my eyes open. Going to bed early tonight. How's everyone else surviving the time change?

  4. I'm sleepy, but can't blame it on the time change. More like too many things going on.

I think we may get this house we looked at over the weekend. We liked it and put in the application. Now we're waiting to see if they like us. The owners have a No Pet policy, but are considering our situation. On the one hand, I'm happy to have found a place and on the other hand, I'm nervous that they may decline to rent to us. Can't go anywhere that doesn't want our Bambu! We should hear today.

Snow keeps melting, thank goodness. Another few days of 50 degree weather and it should disappear for good :)

    Love to you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Hi Eva, Hope the house works out for you...and of course, beloved Bambu is part of the family. Warm weather must feel like paradise. It's been such a nasty winter. I just woke up at 2am. Don't know why. Checked the news and hoping I can go back to sleep soon.

  6. Happy Birthday to me today. OMG, I'm 60!!!!!!!

Still aren't sure about the house, but it looks good. The owners want an extra $300 a year for Bambu and we said that was fine. The realtor drew up the lease and we signed it. Not a done deal until the owners sign as well. They live in Florida, so we'll have to wait a little while longer.

Joe's uncle (his Godfather, too) died on Monday, so he's up in Connecticut for the funeral. Bambu & I will be celebrating my birthday with each other. I did get a gorgeous bunch of flowers this morning, though.

  7. Happy Birthday Eva...We Ponders can keep a secret about your age. NOT. LOL
Bouquet of flowers. Your Joe is such a sweet guy. You are so lucky.
Froggy is singing Happy Birthday Deer Eva...

  8. Well, I don't feel any different. Maybe this is just what 60 feels like.

Happy Friday the 13th, deer Ponders :)

    1. Eva, you are funny. I don't feel much different, just slower at most things. And I like naps.

  9. Happy Birthday, Eva! I turned 60 on 9/14. Actually, I'm fine with being 60 and surprised it really isn't bothering me. My son turned 25 on 3/11 and is feeling sooooo old. LOL!

Always great to hear from Phooey and Paget.

Spring has sprung here in OKC. One morning, I drove to work on the most treacherous ice and snow I've ever experienced, and by afternoon it was Spring. By the very next day, all the flowering trees had flower buds on them. That was only a week ago. Sun is shining, then lovely Spring rain showers, and everything is blooming. Love this time of year.

Things have been really stressful at work for a long time. I got a raise and promotion. Yours truly is now Office Manager of the company. FINALLY, I got to hire a mature, experienced assistant (very high hourly wage) instead of wasting time on low-pay, young, inexperienced, immature people. You get what you pay for! Last week was only her 2nd week, and I felt completely comfortable taking yesterday off. I haven't taken a day off since forever. She used to own a bakery, knows that I love blackberries, and brought me a blackberry cobbler. DEELISH. Color me happy!

Yesterday, I got a haircut, my car serviced and detailed. After months of driving in snow and ice (and all the chemicals put on the streets), my little car is sparkly clean. Today I'm getting new tires, getting estimates from 2 moving companies, going to the grocery store, packing some more. I haven't been focused on moving because the weather has been so horrible. Now, I'm ready to rock and roll.

I'm a very happy woman these days. Love being 60, love my gray hair, love living alone, love going to the grocery store and cooking, love being able to take care of stuff like the car by myself, love my job and have no plans to retire at 66. There must be something wrong with me =).

Love you, Deers. Love. Love. Love.

  10. Wow, Surfie, it's great reading your post! Congrats on the promotion and raise and great weather. It's raining all day here, but it's warmer, around 55. A good day for sleeping, but we're still not sure we'll get the house we looked at. Until the owners sign the lease, it isn't a done deal. Just the fact that they're taking this long makes me nervous. Sigh. Well, it's in G-d's hands. If we're meant to have it, we will.

  11. Hi Eva...Hi Surfie...Good to hear good news from both of you. Looks like Surfie is on a roll! It's a splendid idea not to take social security until you have to. Is it 70 and a half? If I had waited I could retire now. Though I don't mind going to work a couple days a week. Keeps the mind in shape. We are having nicer days around Seattle. So Paget and Gloria must have warmer days too. Though I heard on the news that we didn't get any snow in the Olympic Mountains. Don't know what all the little furry animals will do for water.

Seattle newspaper said that there are a few humpback whales swimming near the islands. Said that they leave the pod every year and search for "ghost shrimp" to eat before continuing their trip north for the summer. Wish I could go out and see them...but I get seasick. Froggy gets a little "green" too.

  12. Eva, you are right about your new perfect place to live being in God's hands. I really didn't embrace that truth until my husband passed. If I had not been brought to my knees in overwhelm, turning my life over to God was only something I gave lip service to. Sometimes, life looks messy when you turn everything over to Him, but it always works out perfectly. Can I get an Amen?!

Wog, the mere thought of the social security administration gives me a headache. The people who work there remind me of the ignorant, rude, lazy people at the DMV. No difference, and it scares me to think that people like that work in government places ... all the way up to the White House.

Looks like you're getting some good rain in Seattle and a good part of the state. Hope so, for the little furry animals' sake!

Love you, Deers. I'm packing and cooking today.

  13. Hi Surfie, you beat me to The Pond today. You must be excited about the moving. Ponders will want to know about your new digs and the neighborhood after you move.

Froggy has been up and down all night, so she is sleeping in now. She sends her love. It is raining and cold today. Good day for napping and resting. Don't know what happened to our nice, sunny days. It had to save the rain for the weekend, for our days off. How does that happen!

We are still rooting for you to write a recipe book. Someone sent me a recipe for biscuits that sounds delicious...and way-too-fattening! It is called 7-Up Biscuits. Has Bisquick, sour cream, and 7-Up. Mix it up. Cut into biscuits. Place on cookie sheet that is covered with melted butter.
