  1. Hope people are watching the dog...before he helps himself! Looks like a wonderful spot for our Ponders to enjoy the day and the evening. Stay cool and stay happy. Did someone bring the fireworks to shoot over the lake?

  2. That is the cutest little Jack Russell Terrier. Smartest dog ever (I used to be owned by one).

Let's have ourselves an Independence Day party. I'll bring some huge fans to blow some heat away. Also, sparklers! We had such a huge rain Thursday night that most fireworks stands got destroyed. But I have sparklers!

Let's have a virtual Pond Party. Burgers, dogs, potato salad, chips & salsa, lemonade, iced tea, watermelon, red velvet flag cake. Who's bringing what?

  3. Happy 4th of July. It will be another hot and dry day. 90+. I would love sitting under a big shade tree with a slight breeze. I'll bring homemade potato salad.

Here's a great idea for lemonade. Use half water and half coconut water. Coconut water has tons of electrolytes and tastes tropical. Squeeze fresh lemons and drop the left over lemon into the pitcher. Sweeten with your favorite kind of sweetner.

Surf and Eva, did you ever get tortilla strips with sauce and cheese at the beach? Val and I were reminiscing about how it was soooo summer. Zacks Shack, Huntington Beach. I want to turn back the clock.

    1. Surfie, you made me laugh about your little Jack Russell. About being owned by your pet. Probably all of us are owned our pets...but most of them don't know. Jack Russells know!

Loving our Pond picnic. I'll have some of everything you bring. I could use a big glass of the iced lemonade right now! Sparklers are great fun in the dark. Sounds like a wonderful time with Friends!

  4. Gloria, potato salad is wonderful. Love the lemonade idea. I'm going to the grocery store tomorrow and getting the ingredients.

It has been in the mid-90's lately, and very humid. We call it "air you can wear."

Spent a wonderful day at my brother and SIL's house with the family. Today is SIL's birthday. We cooked burgers and dogs, got in the pool (until it started raining again). Late Big Sister Susie's son drove in from Kansas City. He's a police officer and somehow managed to get a holiday off work. He told so many stories of people he's arrested on the 4th of July over the years. Had us laughing so hard! My nephew is 6'6", solid muscle. If I were a criminal, it would scare the wits out of me to be stopped by him. Reality is that he is a giant teddy bear. Criminals don't know that!

My sister is a new grandmother. It was so great that her son and his wife came over with the new 2-month old baby. My nephew and his wife actually got to have fun time in the pool because my sister, SIL and I took turns taking care of dear little Savannah. There's nothing better than a new baby! It was hilarious when all of we 60'ish year olds found ourselves standing up, talking, and we were all swaying back and forth like we were holding a baby.

Today was a good day. I hope all Deers had a good day, too. I love all of you very much.
