  1. Eva, Froggy said that you and Joe need to move inland. We are both worried about you. Not fun to be at the beach in a Category 3.

    1. Hi Phooey, I always tell Froggy when I see your post. Yes, our Surfie writes interesting posts. Want to hear more about her new place and neighborhood. Phooey, did you and EC get rain from hurricane Joaquin?

  3. Eva, I'm worried about you and Joe, too. You never can tell what will happen. It looks like you won't take a direct hit but will have torrential rains and flooding. I'm a tad worried about my son, too. He lives upper east side Manhattan, and assures me that he is prepared with food, batteries, etc. My boy grew up in earthquake country and knows what is required.

Eva, you and Joe lived in earthquake country for a long time, too. I know both of you and my son know what to do. Still, I worry a little!

I probably won't be doing much today. Left work yesterday at 10:30 ... sick. Think it was food poisoning. That's what it felt like. Finally was able to eat something (bowl of Cheerios) without it coming right back up and out.

So, my huge agenda of things to do this weekend will mostly be put on hold. Still have to go grocery shopping and do laundry. My mission for the weekend was to paint 2 old stone planters that came from my boss Janice's late mom's house. Janice's mom painted them pink, and I need to repaint them. I will hopefully feel well enough tomorrow to at least buy the supplies.

The weather here has FINALLY turned from summer to fall. It is so nice to open the door and not step into a blast furnace! One thing I love about living back home in OKC is that we have 4 distinct seasons. Think I'll buy a pumpkin while at the grocery store today or tomorrow.

    Love you, Deers.

    1. Phooey is about three hours west and south of me but yes we have had rain, so much that I have mushrooms in the front yard ! Surfie what did you eat ? the DH was at a Love's truck stop, had some fried chicken and got the poop/puke not a nice thing living in a rig. He is better today and hopefully he will be home tomorrow. My hanging plants got all beat to heck with these storms and poor beaglie has just about wore out a Thunder shirt., enough already. everyone, take care.

    2. Good morning pond friends!

Stay safe all you deer ones in hurricane territory! We finally had some rain here - we were in a drought all summer. This morning it was pouring so hard my dog refused to go outside.

I know I've been away for a while, but after all the overtime I've put in, I haven't had energy left at the end of the day to write. My good news is that my office is back to being fully staffed again. Now my main concern is catching up on all the tasks from my own job that I let slide for the last 3 month! Just in time too, as my BP went up and my doc pointed out the obvious - get more exercise, more sleep, and eat better! That's what comes from sitting in front of a computer all day, and even part of the evening, and weekends too.

Last Saturday I took a break and Jeff and I took my parents wine tasting. We have great wineries in this section of WA state. It was fun! My parents got out of their house and it was nice to get out of town.

Great to have Froggy home, and to hear from Eva, Phooey and EC! Surfie, sorry about your food poisoning. That is awful.

Wog, I enjoyed your video about the mom calling her son at college. I remember those days!

Well I finally got on the computer, and my hubby needs to use it. I better get going, lots of chores are calling my name.

Love and prayers to all you deer pond friends!

    3. Hi Paget, Happy Happy to hear from you. Was surprised that you got rain. We haven't had much around Seattle. Kind of cloudy and foggy and cold in the mornings, and sun pops out in the afternoon. Would love to drive out to the wine country but I don't know if we'll ever get another car.

    4. Deer Surfie, take is easy. You've been under a lot of stress lately with working and moving...and now you are sick.

Froggy makes me rest if I get too ambitious. This weekend we are both resting...even though there are things to do. I bought some frozen dinners so that I don't have to cook. Froggy has been eating popsicles for treats.

  4. This is for Surfie, I have had many wood floors in older houses, the best thing to use is:
Murphy Oil Soap, pure vegetable and safely cleans wood, Just squrit and Mop, no dulling residue

    1. Hi EC, sorry blogger is such a pain some days. That is great advice about cleaning wood floors. Sis and I had wood floors in Colorado. Was fun for the cats to try running on!

  5. We are all worried about Eva and Joe. I think they are close to the beach...way tooo close. Beautiful when the weather is nice, but can be devastating in a hurricane. I hope they went inland for a few days.

EVA and JOE...your Pond Family is praying for your safety. Write when you can. We worry! Let us know if we can do anything to help.

  6. So nice to hear from Paget and EC!!!! We have missed you two!

Paget, I can so relate to being overworked and catching up on tasks you let slide. No fun at all, but it sure does feel nice to finally take care of it all, doesn't it? Sounds like you had a wonderful time on the wine country tour. Yay!!!

EC, having food poisoning and being in a big rig sounds dreadful. Poor hubs! I'm pretty sure mine came from Thursday's lunch. I had vegetable beef stew and a cornbread muffin at a little café near my work. I eat there quite often, but this time the food was just not right. The stew looked funny and cornbread tasted weird. I think both might have been reheated one time too many, or something.

Anyway, I started feeling human late afternoon yesterday. Decided to go to this little junk store near my house. Wala!! I've been looking for a narrow table to put behind the sofa. There it was, and it had 2 matching upholstered stools that slide underneath it. Had to clean it up. I had upholstery cleaner already. The wood polished up perfectly, and the upholstery cleaner made those little stools look like new again. And it was all dirt cheap.

Spent $8 buying paint for my cement planters, but don't have the energy to take on that project this weekend. I'm going to putter around the house, do a little laundry, make some chicken soup.

Hope Eva and Joe aren't under water. Love you Deers. Have a wonderful Sunday!

    1. HI Surfie...sounds like you're having a better day. Exciting about your new table...and a bargain too! don't know when Eva can get back to The Pond. The news doesn't sound good in her area. Froggy has a football game on. Not sure which one. Can't get the Denver game, and Seattle is on Monday night.

  7. Thank you all for your good wishes! Joe & I decamped to his parents' house in Yonkers. We couldn't resist stopping at the beach to look at the 15 foot waves (Surfie, shades of the Malibu idiots). New York was amazingly calm, at least where we were, including blue skies! Back at the Shore now and the wind is still howling, but we're dry. Looks like South Carolina got the worst of it. Prayers for all of them.

Another note, Surfie: Joe & I keep telling our new neighbors how much better it is here, catastrophe-wise. At least we have days of warning. In L.A. earthquakes give you no warning and that's so much worse.

It's still strange coming home to an empty house, although we wouldn't have left if Bambu were still alive.

I'm heading down to Georgia Friday for a week. I'll write later. Big kisses and hugs to everyone!!
