The Great O to spoil summer in Seattle

~Perfect party place for Ponders~

  1. Yes, "o" is coming to Seattle today for a fund-raiser. They'll block off a lot of the downtown area, and overpasses to the freeways. Real pain in the ----. He'll stay overnight and leave on Saturday.

Don't know about Paget and Gloria, but downtown Seattle is cold and drizzling this weekend. We may get some hot days next week.

I am taking Froggy to dentist today. She is scared to go. But when a tooth hurts, ya gotta go. We found a dentist four blocks from the house, so I can push her in wheelchair.

Wish we could all meet at the fun park in this week's picture. Looks so fun...and no alligators or sharks. (I asked!)

  2. I feel your pain regarding O's visit. When I lived in Santa Monica, the helicopters flew over my apartment and landed on the lawn of UCLA less than a mile from my house. Traffic was a nightmare. At least he won't be able to complicate matters more by playing golf (since it's cold and drizzling)!

Frog, how did the trip to the dentist go? My siblings inherited naturally strong teeth. I did not. I'd rather go through labor and delivery again than go to the dentist. I feel your pain, Froggy!

On my way to sister's house to get some tan on and plan for the holiday weekend. Mike and Lisa arrive some time Friday 7/1. We're having family day 7/2 at brother's house, and another family day 7/4 at sister's house. It just hit me yesterday after work how much I need to accomplish between now and Friday. There is so much to do, but it is all fun stuff!

I've been teaching people at work about certain daily things I do that must be accomplished. They sort of half listen and say "I've got this." I'm working Monday-Thursday next week, and will make them do those must-do tasks every day. They DO NOT "got this."

You know what? I have 170 hours of paid time off. I told Joe (owner) and Janice (CFO) that I am OFF THE GRID while Mike and Lisa are here. Sure hope they pay attention and make the people I'm teaching pay attention. I'm seriously going to force myself to not worry about my job for a week.

Love you, Deers. Hope to hear from everyone soon!

  3. Where is everyone? Hope all Deers are just busy with Independence Day stuff and are A-OK.

Mike & Lisa started driving from NYC to OKC 2 days ago. I started a family-wide text chain. They've been sending pictures from all the historic places they are visiting. Aunts, Uncles, cousins are all chiming in. I can't really describe how much fun the whole thing has been.

Picked up the keys to the AirBnb I rented for them. It is a darling little place, and just a few blocks from me. Their ETA is about 6pm. We'll let them get settled in, then all go out to dinner. I think Mike and all his cousins (all late 20's) will go out together for the night-life. Big family reunion pool party tomorrow!

Deers, words don't describe what a happy woman I am!

  4. Have a wonderful time with the kids, Surf and enjoy your time off. Just know that when you go back to work, they'll probably have mixed things up and left stuff for you to take care of. It never fails.

My family shows up tomorrow for two weeks and I'm running around like crazy getting ready. Somehow, no matter how organized I think I am, things get stuck. It'll all turn out fine, but now I'm just hoping their airport time is smooth and the traffic from Newark to the Shore isn't as bad as it was today. Their drive may end up being longer than the flight!

I'll try and check in from time to time, but I'm sure I'll be with the little ones most of the time :)

Love to you all and Happy July 4th Monday. We are blessed to be Americans!

  5. Hi Deer Eva and Deer Surfie, Hi to all of our Pond Family, Sorry about the delay in changing pictures. But love your posts. Thank you for sticking around. Looks like we all have some wonderful weather for our July 4th. Enjoy. Promise to be back on track soon. Froggy just told me to send Lovies and Smoochies to all of you.

  6. So good to hear from you, Froggy and Wog. I was beginning to worry!

Mike and Lisa are on their way back home to NYC. I am so blessed to have a son such as him, and to love Lisa as a daughter already. Thank you, Lord!

Mike spelled out his career goals with Whole Foods to me. If he achieves his ultimate goal, it will mean he moves to WF global headquarters ... Austin, Texas!

It makes me happy to think about that. At the end of the day, I don't know where life will take him. I just pray every day for his safety and for God to lead Mike into God's highest and best wishes for his life.

Color me happy, joyful, blessed, content.

    1. Surfie, you are lucky to have such a wonderful son and Lisa too. Two kids you can be proud of! Austin, TX is a lot closer than NYC. Knowing your Mike and Lisa, they will achieve their goal....and make your soooo Happy.

  7. Please keep police officers in your prayers. My nephew, a police officer, called all family members yesterday to let us know he and police officers across the country are taking down their social media. They are being watched by people trying to figure out where they live, where they have dinner, etc., to target them personally. What a mess.

  8. I agree, my brother was a cop outside Dallas. When his wife gave birth, she made him quit. Now he lives next door and has 2 grandsons. My uncle was a Penna. beat cop, walked the streets, back then it was safe. Surfie this mess was caused by the resident when he said the 'cops acted stupidly way back in Connec at the start of this regime. I believe he is a DEMON, no show of human emotions.
On a brighter note, so glad you shared the great time with your family.
We had our 45 th wedding anniv. on the 3rd and yesterday was my birthday and the DH got a good report from his surgeon, it was 10 days since his second carotid surgery. Finally, my left eye was done in Jan. and Monday they are doing the right eye, maybe after 5 months of horse hokey, I will be able to type. I read all your posts and so enjoy them. EC

    1. EC...you always have such good news lately. Happy Birthday, and Happy 45th Anniversary. Both very special days. We see you post again after your new surgery heals. Prayers for your continued success! We love you.

  9. Congrats EC on all your news! Isn't it great to have good things happen after such hard times?

Police are in my prayers. I'm so heartbroken about what happened in Dallas and yes, it comes from the top. Now Hillary says white people need to change. I'm sure she's bringing African-American votes to her side, but she better watch out that she doesn't loose the white voters she had.

The whole Clinton "get out of trouble free" situation drives me nuts. I can't talk about it rationally. Talk about a DEMON!

    1. Hi Eva, I don't think that the Hill gets a "get out of jail -free card!" ...at least not from us. Seems like the whole world has gone nut-zoid. Hill can't fix that. She never does what's best for the country; she only does what's best for the Clintons.

  10. Good morning Ponders. I stop by often to catch up on what everyone is doing. I love the perspective of each one of my Pond friends.

The happenings of the last week are disturbing to say the least. Like the devil has been unleashed.

Val and 7 of the kids were here this week. Her sister in law was also here with her 5. What a house full. Not my house but at SIL Jessica's parents house. On the 4th they had a barbecue for the family. Val was able to take Grace, Livvy and Rachel to Seattle Pacific for a tour. Now Grace has visited the place she will be going in the fall.

Dealing with son Steve has had some real ups and downs. He is easily discouraged. But good news he is at church today.

Froggy I really feel for you about the dentist thing. I have some decisions to make about my teeth this year. So does Scott.

I have been going through closets and drawers for the last 6 weeks getting rid of things I no longer need or use. I told Scott if I can do it he can do it. And he is making progress too. We moved here in 2001 so you can imagine how much stuff is lurking in closets. Tax filings from 1998? Yikes.

    1. Hi Gloria, Always a treat to hear from you. Life seems to be giving you a lot to deal with lately. Where is Seattle Pacific? I think it is about 10-15 blocks from where we live. Nice campus!

Froggy is never happy or hoppy when the dentist is coming up. We found a new place about five blocks from our building so I can just push her up in the wheelchair. She seems to like her new dentist. This first procedure will take two visits. Not sure what they are doing.
