Good Morning, Pond People!

9 comments:

  1. Morning, all! Got up to feed the boys who were making a lot of noise. Now all is quiet. Wish I could go back to bed, but I'd just lie there feeling stuffy.

Paget, I knew your name had to do with that actress from the time I found out your first name was Debbie. It's a unique screen name!

Football again today and hopefully, more rest and less nose blowing. I still look like Rudolph and the holidays are way over!

  2. Good morning pond friends!

Eva, well, I'm glad Paget is unique because 'Debbie' sure isn't! ;) Of course my name is now quite dated. I seldom run across anyone named 'Debbie' who is younger than 50. My dear friend who calls me Paget is 6 yrs. older than me. I had never heard of Deborah Paget until she gave me that nickname in the '70s. I've since looked her up and saw that she was a beautiful actress, so our names are the only things we have in common! LOL!

I'm going in to work today as it will be quiet and I can catch up without anyone bothering me. ;) Just as well, as hubby will have football on all day and so I won't miss anything. However, since the Seahawks aren't playing he won't be yelling at the TV quite as much!

Hope you all have a lovely day!

  3. Eva, I'm so sorry you are sick--wish there was something I could do to make you feel better! Keeping my 2 boys fed will help keep down the noise! LOL!

Paget, you share more than you think with Deborah Paget--she's a delicate beauty just like you are. I know; I have a picture of you! You look so ladylike and classy!

We're going to watch our hometown favorite team--the Denver Broncos. We grew up with football during the Elway years and learned to love it, but they haven't been that good since. Hope Tebow can pull it off... wish 'em luck (they're going to need it).

Phoo, how are you doing? You're going to have to call me one of these days and tell me what's up--I miss you. We're trying to get over 'Woggy getting fired and make new plans... it's hard, she goes through crying spells (and when she doesn't, I do). We'll have to start all over again Monday. I just keep trying to hold on--I have some calls to make tomorrow. She applied for unemployment--don't know if she'll get it, though. Pray for her, please?

I'm sorry Surfie doesn't come over here anymore--say hi if you see her? Hikergal, too.

  4. Paget.. I didn't realize that you were named after Debra Paget, film actress. Yes, she a was very pretty on screen. I looked her up on Wikipedia, and she is still around, though not making films.

Eva, hope you get to feeling better soon. Just snuggle up with your boys.

  5. Froggy & 'Wog, just enjoy the football today and worry about tomorrow when it comes (which it will soon enough). Sometimes ya just gotta take a break before hitting the pavement again. To do what you two have to will require all your energy, so rest up now.

I've just had some soup and now I'm back to bed with the furballs.

  6. Hi all, had to insert my 2 cents worth. Just read your comment about the Wog not getting unemployment. I don't know why she wouldn't. It is dependent on the amount of hours you work in a certain quarter. Your employer takes money out of your pay and it goes into a fund. Everything and I mean Everything is available to them on the computer. You are only required to be looking for work. If you can't look you can go to a class once a week. So much can be done on the computer.
I was pretty upset the last time I tried to apply. I was short 5 hours. That was last year. So I gave up. Look on the internet and it will tell you how many hours you nee and which quarter they are drawing from.

    Love ya

Ps my dear Husband went to Cherry Creek High School in Denver. He grew up in Denver.

  7. Hello again,

'Wog, Gloria is right; I can't see why you wouldn't be eligible for unemployment, as it sounds like you've been there for quite a while. Our neighbor is 71, and he works a while, then goes on unemployment. I don't think your age matters, as long as you have the hours in as Gloria explained.

Thanks, Froggy, I would have to disagree, but I appreciate your kind words. :)

One more thing, 'Wog, just to clarify; my friend gave me the nickname of Paget. My parents actually named me after their minister's wife. (Most of my 'Debbie' friends were named after Debbie Reynolds.)

I just got home from work, and finished about 15 minutes of Zumba. It was a sad sight to see. That is why I exercise in my basement! After this latest effort, I sure feel old! Hard to keep up with those 30 yr. old dancers! Oh well, if I don't throw my back out, at least I'm getting a good laugh! ;)

    Take care friends. :)

  9. I did unemployment 7-8 years ago. Don't remember much about it. I do remember that I needed to apply for 3 jobs every week, or take one of the Worksource classes. I don't know about having to work a certain number of hours before you qualify. I do think you need to be laid off, not quit or be fired.

Paget how does your neighbor manage to get laid off or maybe he just works temp jobs?
