  1. Karen's surgery started 9AM Friday. It ended 2:30AM Saturday. It's 4:30AM here.

The tumor was the size of a softball. It had wrapped around her carotid artery and solidified. It was behind her left eye where the carotid enters and branches out.

The surgeon couldn't remove a slice of the tumor that has cemented itself to the carotid, but said there is a 90% chance that radiation will destroy that part of the tumor.

He was able to push the left optic nerve, which was bent several times around the tumor, away from the tumor. The tumor has also affected her right optic nerve. The optic nerve starts as one and then branches out in a Y shape, one to each eye. It's wait and see how and if her vision recovers.

She came out of the prolonged "sleep" just fine, started trying to talk, in control of body movements. Surgeon said she will probably be in ICU for 2 days, a day in a room, and then home.

A new MRI tomorrow. It's going to be a long road. Please keep praying for Karen.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS. I can never tell you how much you Ponders have blessed so many.
