Friday Ponders pondering...

Go ahead. Sleep in. Be late for work.
Boss will understand... NOT!

  1. Good Morning, Ponders--who's got plans for the weekend?

  2. It's FREEZING this morning. I was under the covers with both cats & when Joe woke me to say he was leaving for work, he said neither cat had eaten yet. I know it was because they didn't want to come out from the warmth. I finally did and outside, it's 45 degrees! Inside, it's 63, so I'm keeping the heater on a little longer. I have to go out to the hairdresser, though, and I won't leave it on while I'm gone. Good thing the sun is out so strongly.

My niece went out for dinner last night with a couple of members of her mommy's group. When I spoke with her yesterday, I told her how glad I was that she was doing that, but I was privately worried that she would cancel. This morning I got an email from my father that she had just called him. She went and had a good time, thank goodness. I hope she actually ate. She's much too thin. I know it's the stress, but she needs to force it if she isn't hungry. She needs her strength. My father & I are a little worried that the situation will deteriorate in spite of everyone's (professed) desire to be civil. It's tough being so far away.

Froggy, I love the tummy on this cat in the picture! It makes me miss my Boomer (who as you know, didn't look like this cat but had a tummy on him until the end). Bambu & Puffin are such skinny boys!

    1. Hi Eva, you just need to put Bambu and Puffin in a sunshine square and they will be happy. Thank you for sharing Boomer, and all your babies with us. We have so many pictures of our babies. Sometimes it's hard to look at them, but then we remember something really cute they did or something silly or something sweet. Our Wolfie just made a nest out of a pile of clothes I put on the bed. I was going to donate them (the clothes, not Wolfie!) because they don't fit anymore.

Eva, 63 is cold inside. We keep ours at 74.

    1. The Great Phoo has spoken.

We are resting a little while, and sortng through stuff to toss if we move, then watching TV.

It's cold in Seattle. I have been wearing gloves and knitted cap all week to wait for buses. Nice and warm inside. We don't have a thermostat, so it's just a guess. Sometimes I can hear a click and the heat comes on.

  4. I'm so heartsick over the news from Connecticut. I'm staying away from the TV. Dear G-d, they were just children.

    1. You watch Obama make it into a play for gun control... always thinking of himself. It's terrible; I just gasped with the horror of it like you did.

    2. Another mad animal got loose again today. Evil exists.

    3. It is so incredibly sad and horrifying! I pray for their families. My heart aches thinking about those innocent children. I wonder about a person who could do such evil. Phooey, you are right. I just wish they would change the laws so the insane could be committed to mental hospitals before their evil is unleashed on the public.

  5. Things went so well at the housing agent's appointment this morning that I've started to pack--didn't Surfie start this moving fever? ;-)

  7. Do you have a moving date? I know it will all work out.

Just got off the phone with my daughter. Today's news was hard to take. Made no sense. She says she just wants all her kids to come home so she can hug them all.

    1. Hi Gloria, It's just too hard to watch the news this evening. Just babies. So many.

  8. After working over 55 hours this week, I'm only doing what I want this weekend. I'll actually have fun doing mundane things like laundry. Nearly every dish I own is piled up in the kitchen, and I'll enjoy cleaning it all up. My internal clock makes it hard for me to sleep in, but I'm so bone tired that I think I'll sleep in naturally.

Yes, I did move half-way across the country a year ago. Throwing stuff out, donating stuff I don't want or need, getting down to what is either important or near and dear was an exhilarating experience for me. It's a lot of work, but so much fun when you get to your new place without baggage and with what is truly precious.

Prayers for the families of those murdered in Connecticut today. Heartbreaking. Even while we grieve and pray, we also know that some people will use this as yet another reason disarm us. I'll be praying that those attempts fail.

Tired old Surfie is gonna take a bubble bath, curl up in bed and sleep.

    1. Hi Surfie, has it already been a year since you moved?

We tossed out several bags of stuff this afternoon. Just need to do that every day. If everything works out, we would give notice in December that our last day would be Jan 31. New place needs a couple weeks to clean and paint. We could start moving in 3rd week of Jan. Froggy is working out the details and dates, you know...when to call movers, etc.

You mentioned something that sounds delightful. A bubble bath. New place has a wonderful bathtub. Perfect for a hot bubble bath.
