  1. WHO KNEW?

    Best secret retirement spot

Kuching, situated just inland of the northwest coast of the island of Borneo, offers retirees with a sense of wanderlust a generous helping of laid-back charm along with a high standard of living, all for a downright bargain cost.

Kuching offers unlimited opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. This is the land of endangered proboscis monkeys, orangutans, the world's biggest flower and the elusive hornbill. Some of the world's largest remaining virgin rainforests can be explored in the many national parks just a short distance from the city. However, this isn't about jungle living. Kuching is a pleasant and modern city. On your less adventurous days, you could relax on pristine beaches, be pampered in a spa, play a round of golf, watch the latest Hollywood films, or enjoy a day shopping at one of the many malls and specialty shops in the city.

The name Kuching is derived from the Malay word for "cat," ...

  2. HYPOCRITE? IS THIS WHY OUR GOVERNMENT IS BROKE?

"As it turns out, Vice President Joe Biden's London stay in February was not the most expensive part of his trip. A government document released on February 14, 2013 shows that the contract for the Hotel Intercontinental Paris Le Grand came in at $585,000.50."

    1. We as a country are in serious trouble. The elite class is so out of control. Probably has been for longer than we knew. As Breitbart said: "We have the internet. We can fact check your ass."

Fine. What can we do about it? I really hate feeling so hopeless.

    2. I'm on Medicaid so I feel like I'm part of the problem. My vote counts less than anyones'--I wonder if they even count the Repub votes in this state. It's heck to vote and know you're always outnumbered here!

  3. That's one serious kitty! Hope you get the cat food before Wolfie decides to show you who's boss!

It's a cold, dreary, rainy day today. High of 43. I can't do a lot because of the pneumonia, but I can putter around and cook.

Just spent over an hour reading The Pioneer Woman's recipes. She has a way with words, and the pictures are terrific. If you have time, I highly recommend reading her website. Also love her because she's an Okie!

I'm reading recipes and making my shopping list. One thing I'm making today is Butternut Squash Soup. It's cheap, easy to make, and good for me! I puree it and drink it from a coffee mug. Honestly, I think I can hear my body saying THANK YOU with every swig!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. I'm puttering, cooking, napping. Hope to check back in.

  4. I got up at 4:30 this morning to take Joe to LAX for a quick trip to New York to see his folks. He'll be back Thursday. I left the cats in bed and was looking forward to crawling back in with them. I got in bed and they left!! Couldn't fall back asleep. It's a good thing I have nothing planned today. I'll probably feel the effects of lack of sleep by noon and take a nap.

Good morning, deer Ponders. I'll catch up with you later.

    1. Eva, that's a long and tedious slog from where you live to LAX. Is the 405 still a mess? I feel your pain, sister!

    2. Yeah, you know the 405 will always be a mess. Luckily, because of the early hour I could just cruise surface streets. On the way home, when I was on Sepulveda, I glanced at the freeway and it was already packed.

It's such a gorgeous day today. 78 degrees and a light breeze. I was reading, using my Nook, with my feet up and the TV on. Bambu was in my lap and I fell asleep. I can't tell if I feel better (more awake) now or worse. Guess I'll put a salad together and eat.

  5. Hi All, guess I'm late to the Pond today. Wolfie gets me up early because I'm "The Food Mom." Then I go back to bed. I remember driving on LA freeways. I used to say it take an hour to drive to LA and 4 hours to drive across LA.
