Tuesday. Where did Monday go?

  1. Howdy Ponders,
We returned home Monday afternoon. They are giving Froggy something, so she has to take insulin for three days. Hope we can stay on a good track this time. She doesn't want to go back to hospital anymore.

I got a little bit early start on our Tuesday. Just wanted to be sure we got a new picture up. Haven't seen much of Froggy since we got home. I check on her every now and then. Time to take care of me. Going to bed now. (Monday night). Love to our Wonderful Pond Family.

  2. WE ALL KNEW THIS WAS COMING:
'WOG -I've been listening to this story on the radio all night. It made me feel so bad that I had to stop listening. The most I can figure out is this: don't make any changes to your coverage because then Obamacare says that you are no longer "grandfathered" in, and you have to take his plan ...which is costing people hundreds of dollars more than their old coverage. obama and his cohorts have destroyed our beautiful system of healthcare. It is now probably the worst on the planet...and it doesn't even work.

Obama administration knew millions could not keep their health insurance

By Lisa Myers and Hannah Rappleye, NBC News

President Obama repeatedly assured Americans that after the Affordable Care Act became law, people who liked their health insurance would be able to keep it. But millions of Americans are getting or are about to get cancellation letters for their health insurance under Obamacare, say experts, and the Obama administration has known that for at least three years.

Four sources deeply involved in the Affordable Care Act tell NBC News that 50 to 75 percent of the 14 million consumers who buy their insurance individually can expect to receive a “cancellation” letter or the equivalent over the next year because their existing policies don’t meet the standards mandated by the new health care law. One expert predicts that number could reach as high as 80 percent. And all say that many of those forced to buy pricier new policies will experience “sticker shock.”

  4. Hi Wog and deer Froggy. Do the docs tell you what is going on with Froggy? Every time I stop by to read what is going on it doesn't sound good. Am very concerned about her.

Wog, I know what you mean about the news about Obamacare. I have worried myself sick about making the right choice. I am making no changes so I will be on the same policy until my birth month next year when I turn 65 in March. Then I go on Medicare.

    1. Hi Gloria,
You are smart to take social security at 65. You should get full benefits. I took mine at 62. Now I wish I had waited.

In the night I was listening to KVI radio - John Carlson. Was so interesting that I couldn't turn it off. But it did scare me.

  5. I'm just confused. As Rush said this morning, I can't believe there are people out there who didn't know this was coming. How could they believe Obama when he said if they liked their health plan, they could keep it? It didn't make sense. It makes my head hurt.

    1. Eva, you got last line right. "It makes my head hurt." So the best I can figure out is this. Don't change anything about your plan or obamacare will say that you are no longer "grandfathered in." It's all nonsense and lies, and we are stuck with it.

  6. I don't know much about individual policies. As the HR Dept. at work, I'm finding out a lot about employer sponsored coverage. Our annual open enrollment is January. Letters went from our ins. carriers to all employees that their policies would be cancelled in January. True, unless we change our date to December, in which case the employer mandate delay kicks in and we don't have to change anything for a year.

Trouble is, neither Blue Cross nor Delta Dental have been able to figure out what the company's costs will be if we stay with January, so we can compare. It's almost November 1st and we need time to make decisions! United Healthcare (vision) says our policy/prices qualify under Obamacare and no change is needed.

Anyway, tomorrow is the open enrollment day for our IRA plan. This new date mandated by the federal government. I'm in insurance hell!

I'll tell you what nearly sent me through the roof today: Kathleen Sebelius and Nancy Pelosi saying that Obamacare isn't causing all these cancellations of private policies and prices going through the roof. It's the big, bad insurance companies fault! SHEESH. Insurance prices are rising because the insurance companies HAVE TO BY LAW only offer coverage/policies that comply with Obamacare!!!

Sebelius is testifying before Congress tomorrow. I hope she is nailed to the wall (metaphorically speaking).

But I take heart. This thing is such a fiasco, and young guns like Ted Cruz are coming on the scene. This just might turn out to be one of those "it's always darkest before the dawn" scenarios. That's what I pray for.

Whew. I feel better now. Thanks for letting me blow off steam. I'm going to have a nice glass of chardonnay and cook myself some terrific chicken soup and garlic/parmesan toast. Big rain/thunderstorms on the way tonight so I'll sleep well!

    Love you Pond Family!

  7. Hi Surfie,
You really see first hand what this stupid law is doing to people and to companies. It squiggled out somehow, no matter what the lawmakers did to stop it. I think your evening meal and chardonnay should help.
