  1. Good morning, glories! Mom used to "sing" that to us on school days as she rousted us out of bed.

Froggy, you must be so glad to be home. Are you going to try another spin with the walker today? I'll be rooting for Eva's Bulldogs and your Seahawks this weekend.

I'll be a busy woman this weekend getting my personal stuff done. Next week at work will be outrageous. Company-wide flu shots on Monday (in shifts), company-wide 1 hour safety meetings on Wednesday (in shifts), Employee Appreciation Cook-out on Friday. We're grilling steaks, smoking beer-can chicken and baked potatoes, along with sides and dessert. Guess who gets to organize all that and STILL do her regular job?

I love my job. It is never boring.

    1. Hi Surfie, I'd love to drop by for the company cookout. You have the best job on the planet. Your employees are lucky to have such a great, friendly bosses. Froggy got up for a few minutes, but it's only 6:30 am here. No reason to be up yet.

  2. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD CHANGE FROM GOP TO DEM:

Ex-Republican Fla. Gov. Crist to run for job as Democrat

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Former Republican governor-turned Democrat Charlie Crist took the first step Friday toward attempting to reclaim his old job with a new party, paving the way for a bitter contest that will be one of the most watched in the nation.

Crist filed paperwork to get in the race and is now the front-runner to represent Democrats against Republican Gov. Rick Scott, one of the most unpopular chief executives in the country. Scott, though, will be well-financed and is expected to spend as much as $25 million in attack ads against Crist.

For Crist, he is hoping to revive a political career that seemingly crashed when he left the GOP and lost an independent run for U.S. Senate to Republican Marco Rubio in 2010.

Crist has a 10 a.m. event scheduled in a park near his St. Petersburg home to kick off his campaign.

"I'm looking forward to Monday and making it official in every way," Crist said Friday. "I just hope that the message that we deliver will lift Florida's spirits and let her know that there's a brighter future tomorrow. And it's coming."

  3. NEWS FROM THE NEWS:

Texas Doctor Sues Over Obamacare, Hoping High Court This Time Will Overturn It

A Texas physician has sued the federal government over Obamacare, hoping that new constitutional challenges will bring the beleaguered healthcare law back before the U.S. Supreme Court — and this time the high court will overturn it.

"With Obamacare, the federal government was thinking that it would come in and straighten out the medical problems of the country by imposing its will upon the people," Steven Hotze, an allergist and hormone specialist in the Houston area, told Newsmax on Thursday in an exclusive interview. "They are mandating everyone to buy insurance, as if insurance provides healthcare.

"Doctors provide healthcare, not insurance companies," he said.

  4. Not going to hold out much hope for my bulldogs today, but I'll be watching and wearing my red & black. The team has so many injuries and even if they win today, their chances of getting to a decent bowl game are practically nil. I still can't help but hope.

Speaking of hope, I saw some pictures of Nathaniel last night. I was really surprised to see much like a baby he looked. He's just really, really small. They call them micro preemies. Yes, he has wires coming out of him, but it didn't look awful. His heartbeat is strong and his lungs are not needing 100% oxygen. The docs say if he survives 4 days, that's a great sign, so that's our next goal.

Surfie reminds me with her post that I'd better get a flu shot before I go down to Georgia. Another thing to put on the list this weekend while I try to get enough food to last Joe for a week while I'm gone. I'm very scattered still. I've never been this disorganized. Oh well, it'll get done one way or another.

    Love all my deer Ponders!!

    1. Hi Eva,
Sounds like you are doing fine. Give yourself credit for what you can get done. You had so much happen so fast. And you are not alone. You and Joe have each other for a hug when you need it. Pet the kitty. That always helps to calm. You got the hard part done. Now it's just adjusting, and realizing that you really did what you had planned.

I'm doing the same thing in Seattle. Seems like so much to be done. But so much has already been done. There's nothing that can't be done tomorrow or Monday. Froggy is home and safe. It's okay for me to lay on the sofa, under a warm cover, and just rest today. Watch Georgia Bulldogs, nap, nibble from frig.

  5. THE NEWS IS ALWAYS A SURPRISE:

Police say Bernie Goetz was nabbed in a sting operation in Union Square on Friday afternoon, selling $30 worth of marijuana to an undercover officer.

NEW YORK — Subway vigilante Bernie Goetz, who ignited a national furor over racism and gun control after he shot four panhandling youths on a train in the 1980s, has been arrested on drug charges, police said Saturday.

Goetz was nabbed in a sting operation in Union Square park Friday afternoon for selling $30 worth of pot to an undercover officer, police said. He asked the woman if she wanted to get high, then went back to his apartment, where he has lived for decades, and returned with marijuana, authorities said. He was arrested on charges of criminal sale of marijuana.

Goetz wasn't being targeted specifically; he just happened to cross paths with the undercover officer assigned to crack down on drug dealing in the park, authorities said.

The 65-year-old was in custody awaiting arraignment Saturday and not reachable for comment.

Goetz became a household name as the skinny, bespectacled white man who, on Dec. 22, 1984, rose from his seat on the No. 2 train in Manhattan and shot four black teens inside a subway car with an illegal handgun. The teens had sharpened screwdrivers and were asking him for $5. Goetz said it was self-defense and the youths intended to rob him.

  6. 'WOG SAYS: I keep finding more news stories today, when I should be watching football. How did this get to be so crazy? The GOP tried to stop obamacare, which is really "obama-I-don't-care." If my insurance gets cancelled. I will have nothing. I don't have money to pay for more than I already have. This president, is not leading the country. He is destroying the country.

Millions of people are receiving notices that their health insurance policies are being discontinued, forcing them to pay more for Affordable Care Act coverage.

MIAMI — Dean Griffin liked the health insurance he purchased for himself and his wife three years ago and thought he'd be able to keep the plan even after the federal Affordable Care Act took effect.

But the 64-year-old recently received a letter notifying him the plan was being canceled because it didn't cover certain benefits required under the law.

The Griffins, who live near Philadelphia, pay $770 monthly for their soon-to-be-terminated health care plan with a $2,500 deductible. The cheapest plan they found on their state insurance exchange was a so-called bronze plan charging a $1,275 monthly premium with deductibles totaling $12,700. It covers only providers in Pennsylvania, so the couple, who live near Delaware, won't be able to see doctors they've used for more than a decade.

"We're buying insurance that we will never use and can't possibly ever benefit from. We're basically passing on a benefit to other people who are not otherwise able to buy basic insurance," said Griffin, who is retired from running an information technology company.

The Griffins are among millions of people nationwide who buy individual insurance policies and are receiving notices that those policies are being discontinued because they don't meet the higher benefit requirements of the new law.

  8. Hi everyone.

Wow! A new baby. Praying that little Nathaniel not only survives but thrives. Blessings to Eva, Joe, Nickki and Nathaniel.

I drove home yesterday from eastern Washington. Made it home in 5 hours. Was planning to stay till Sunday but snow is possible on the pass so I got home early. I feel really good about what I was able to get done last week. Grandparents Day at the middle school, helping Val catch up on things and was able to help her out by getting her to the dentist in Spokane and then there was Halloween. I must say I do not like Halloween because of the yucky costumes, haunted houses and gory stuff but the way they did it in St John reminded me of the fun and innocent times we had as kids. Just a lot of fun.

Froggy, praying you get your strength and health back soon.

We have wind and rain today. I was going to Lowes but heard that the power is out in that part of town. Need some stove parts. I was boiling sugar and water to make humminbird food and forgot about it. Saucepan Flambe!!!! What a mess and a close call.

Have I missed something? Where is our Paget? Been thinking about you.

  9. Fourth quarter and Georgia seems to be running out of gas. Fingers are crossed that they revive!

Just heard from Nikki and she said Nathaniel had a very good day. All his vital signs keep getting stronger. Yay! She said he opened one eye and she's sure he looked right at her. He's hanging in there and that's all we can ask. Nikki sounds better as well. I'm sure she had a good night's sleep last night for the first time in a long time.

Now back to the game. Thanks for everyone's nice words. I really appreciate them.

  10. What a great day!

Gloria's back from a good trip. Didn't get snowed in or blown off the road from those dastardly winds. Nathaniel is surrounded with love and prayers. UGA WON! What an exciting game. Not sure where Paget has run off to. Surely she'll check in soon. Surfie and Phooey doing okay too. Froggy gets up for a while, and has to lay back down. She took a spin around the room with the walker. I'm still getting over a nasty cough, So will set all worries aside, and rest on sofa with TV on.

Don't forget to change clocks tomorrow!
