  1. Almost no side effects? The "almost" makes me wonder. Maybe he hoots at night.

Let's hear it for the Denver Broncos who knocked off the mighty KC Chiefs. 'Wog, if anyone could, I knew it would be Peyton. He's amazing, isn't he? It's hard to believe that he was written off when Indy let him go and he took a year off to heal.

Gloria, yes it seems like Nathaniel has had a good weight gain. I'm just hoping it's real. I think it'll be easier to tell now that all tubes and iv's are removed (except for his feeding tube). If he's only getting milk and not meds, then I figure the weight is correct. I think he's being hydrated in some way, but I'm not sure. The number of machines in his room was mind-boggling.

You know, I would never bring this up to my niece, but in the back of my mind, I'm wondering what on earth this medical bill will be. It has to end up being astronomical, even with insurance.

    1. Eva, sometimes you can't worry about the money part. Most often they will work out a payment plan, or maybe a grant or something. Don't worry.

    2. Eva, listen to Wog about the cost. Don't worry.

Our Father in Heaven must have something spectacular planned for Nathaniel's life else why would the enemy have tried so hard to hurt him. A special little guy who has an Auntie with a huge heart. Begin to spreak the blessings over him.

  2. Do anyone understand the obama care thing? I have Medicare and Froggy has Medicaid. How long do we have to pick something?

    1. Mornin' Sweetie. Wog, soon but not yet. This whole thing is not over yet. You are on Medicare, if you are not changing anything doesn't that stand no matter what happens? Isn't the deadline for Medicare changes early in Dec? I don't understand it all but I am learning. Our state has 2 plans available that don't cost extra. United Health and Premera. Medicare is not free!!!! If they sent a letter and put Froggy on Apple Health is it effective immediately or does it start Jan 1? I have a lot of questions since I start on Medicare in March. I want to make sure I choose right because I can't change for a year. This is soooo stressful!

  3. Gloria,
You got it right! STRESSFUL. When I got Medicare, I signed for .Part A (hospital), Part B (Medical), Part D (prescriptions). You MUST have the payments for these PARTS automatically deducted from your monthly Social Security payment. If you just write a check every month for the payments, and you miss a payment, they will cut you off immediately. And they will fine you for life. You cannot apply again for PART A B D until the next January.

I did this, that's how I know. I missed a payment around September. I had to pay full price on my prescriptions until January. Also they attached a $10 fine each month forever.

I also have a supplemental plan from Group Health (because Froggy was going to Group Health). Then it cost me only $16 a month. Don't know what it is now.

I think the only people who have to sign up for obamacare (excuse me, Affordable Health Care!) are people on Medicaid. Now I've totally confused myself.

Just to see how it works, Google "group health plans for individuals". Put in zip code. Click Pick A Plan. Click Rates and Benefits. I took the cheapest plan, Clear Care Vital HMO. This one pays for some on prescriptions.

  4. Wog, I woke up this morning and immediately began thinking about this stuff. I feel sorry for folks who do not have the ability to decipher all this. They (the gubmint) have been gunning for me for months. I have a huge stack of policy choices. Some folks could be taken advantage of easily.

With all the problems with the Obamacare rollout the Prez has been talking about the need to "re-brand" well, how about calling it Soylent Green? If there were only problems for the dumb a$$es that voted him into office I would say that they deserved it but it hurts the whole country. BAH!

    1. Gloria,
You just wrote some funny stuff, though it's all true. I'm laughing. The whole thing is just so ridiculous.

I got to thinking about what I wrote about Medicare. When I got to be 60 something (probably 62) my insurance at work stopped and I had to get Medicare. I applied for Social Security hen had the Medicare A,B,D deducted from t Social Security. I did make the mistake of writing a check to Medicare every month...and I forgot a payment. I did get a "lifetime" fine, and my A,B and D were cut off until January of the next year.

I should really stop talking about it. Because I don't remember how I got everything set up. Froggy is on Medicaid, and obamacare is affecting her plan. Not sure how yet.

  5. Good morning Ponders. Especially Froggy, little sweet pie Nathaniel and Auntie Eva. Mornin' Paget and Phoo Man. Hi Surfie. Hi Wog. This morning our temp below freezing. Cold.

My SIL is on this side of the state doing some work. I want to send him home with some cookies for Olivia. She really likes it when I bake for her.

I spent hours yesterday looking for some items that I want to sell. No luck. I thought I had them but maybe I only dreamt it.

I have a question. I have a recipe called Apple Donuts for Abm. What is Abm? I thought it might be an ethnic holiday but can't find it.

  6. Hmm, never heard of Abm. I can't even make it into a sound. Maybe it's a typo?

I just got some wonderful news. My niece called to tell me she'll be allowed to hold baby Nathaniel tonight for a whole hour!! I'm so happy for her and my fingers are crossed that it goes well. I can't imagine what it's like to give birth and not be able to hold your baby. I know her 'mommy' hormones are all mixed up. Nothing has gone the way it should and she's been so brave throughout. I'm just so glad she'll finally get to cuddle her little micro bundle. I can't help but think that his progress will jump forward once this happens.

    1. Hi Eva,

What a blessing! I'm so happy for your niece that she can cuddle her little 'micro bundle". :) When little Nathaniel can bond with his loving mommy, I bet he will improve by leaps and bounds!

Prayers will continue for precious Nathaniel and his whole family.

      Love from Paget

Paget, I hope your eyes are improving.

  7. Hello pond friends,

It sure was nice to read Eva's happy update!

How is our Froggy doing? Wog, are you able to get any help? When my FIL came home from rehab and still couldn't get around very well, a nurse would stop by several times a week to help my MIL with him. I hope there are some provisions in either yours or Froggy's insurance that will allow for that.

I'm sorry for you deer friends who have to deal with the Unaffordable Care Act. I still have insurance through my company, but I'm sure our day is coming soon.

Gloria, you and Wog and Froggy, stay warm and dry over there. My poor daughter in Anacortes came home from work last night to discover a big rat swimming in her toilet! It turns out the heavy rain they just had, and the road contruction nearby might have stirred up the sewer rat, and that is how they got their unwelcome pest. The city of Anacortes was sending out crews to put poison down the manholes. Yuck. I'm glad we have a septic tank!

Is anyone working on Christmas projects? All my extra time lately has been spent working on a scrapebook for my daughter, of grandson Kaden's first year. It seemed like a great idea at first - but it is also the first scrapebook I've ever made. I will muddle through, but I wish I had the creative gene, and that ideas would just pop into my head on command. :)

Back to work because lunchtime is over.

    Take care everyone!

    Love from Paget

    1. Oh my Lord, I'd die if I came home to find a rat in my toilet. My screams would be heard for miles, I'm sure!

I, too, am hurting for all those dealing with Obamacare. Everyday seems to bring some fresh horror. Frankly, I don't see how they can make it work, no matter what executive orders Obama writes. They wouldn't be constitutional (not that he cares), but they also are ridiculous. I mean, imagine how absurd it is to constantly rail about substandard health plans and then turn around and say, "Oh, go ahead and keep them for another year." After you've been cancelled? What a nightmare! If it didn't affect so many people, near and dear, I'd laugh.

    2. Paget, I tried scrapbooking when Luke (16) was about 3. I bought all sorts of stuff that was so cool to do the craft. My problem is making a decision. Too many choices. I ended up just looking at photos over and over. Need I tell you how cute grand children are? Never finished anything and ended up giving it all to Val.

    3. BTW I hate mice, rats, snakes and spiders. I have been known to start up the vacuum cleaner in the middle of the night to suck up a spider. Then put the vac in the garage in case of escape.

    4. Paget,
I thought finding rats in the toilet was just something they did in the movies! Rats are mean and nasty and bitey and smart.

We have not done anything for Christmas or Hanukkah. The scrapbook sounds fun to do. It I something from your heart. It's the best kind of gift.

  8. I don't even know where to start!

Frog and Wog, how are you two? Any progress on getting some help? Prayers keep on going up for both of you. Please let us know how you're doing.

YAY about Nathaniel. FOR SURE being held in his Mommy's arms will spike the little darling's growth. That boy is destined for something special. I know how thrilled his Mommy is, too. Such terrific news!

Don't even want to think about coming home to find a rat swimming in the toilet. Thankfully, I'm an apartment dweller and could just leave and call management. Speaking of wildlife: There is a rural road I take to work to avoid the freeway. It's 50 mph on that road, but still rural. This morning, a deer was crossing the road. All cars slowed down and let her pass. She was beautiful!

Gloria, my dyslexic self first read Abm as Amb and I thought your family was friends with an Ambassador. Sure would be interesting to figure out the family code for Abm.

We've been having beautiful fall weather. All that changes tonight and tomorrow. Cold, rain, wind tomorrow. By Friday, sleet and freezing rain. Cold all weekend. Might have our 1st snow Monday. I'm eating leftovers tonight but making chicken noodle soup for work tomorrow and Friday so I don't have to get out in the weather during lunch. Brrrr!

    Love you all!

  9. Gloria and Ponders,
I solved the problem of ABM. Just took putting the right words in a different order into Google. ABM is a bread making machine.by Welbilt. You can see them on eBay.

Yep, it is frosty in Seattle. The sun was out today. But that was just to fool ya. Surfie, snow??? already. Stay safe from the tornados. They really tore up Illinois.

Froggy says Hi and she misses all her friends. She is nervous about going to doctor tomorrow morning. We'll get her all patched up soon, and hopefully back online. Don't think we'll need someone to come and help. Thought we needed someone to drop by while I was gone, but Froggy gets around okay without me. Still in wheelchair. I leave her a sandwich, applesauce and a couple bottles of water in the morning.

  10. Hi dearest Froggy, I miss you too. Please take as much time as you need to get well.

Just be careful and don't take chances.

I wish there was a way for you to get someone to come in to help a few days a week. Especially while Wog is working. There should be a state agency to do that without charging you.

Wog you are amazing to find the answer to Abm. I was going in a complete different direction thinking about ethnic foods for holidays. I had to make it difficult. A Bread Machine - ha!

  11. Gloria, I just switched the words around. Took me a while to figure to do that. Instead of "donuts for ABM," I tried "what is ABM .donuts?"

We can get physical therapist to come six times. She could really use that to get strength back in leg.

Going to watch new Law and Order: SVU tonight. Watched new NCIS last night. Did anyone watch that? What do you think of Ziva David's replacement? Will take getting used to.

  12. Oh, good heavens, A Bread Machine! Never occurred to me. That's funny, but I like Surfie's dyslexic idea making it into Ambassador.

It's in the high 40's here this week. What a difference from balmy Los Angeles! I love it, though. I wonder if it snows much when you're this close to the water. I doubt it, but maybe. If I want snow, all I have to do is drive north for a bit or even go home to North Georgia. People think it doesn't snow down there, but it does. Sometimes a lot.

My niece described holding baby Nathaniel as sheer bliss. The nurses took some pictures and she looks like she's in heaven with this little bitty head poking up over her blouse. She talked quietly to him, told him the names of everyone in his family, sang to him and just enjoyed the closeness. Nathaniel didn't like it much when it was time to be taken back to his bed. She said he really let out a yell. It shocked her because the only noise he'd been making to this point was little kitten-type sounds. I was very happy to hear it. It must mean his lungs are growing the way they should!

    1. Eva, that is exactly what I thought when you said our Baby Nathaniel hollered. His lungs are in really good shape! That is good news. I would have liked a recording of his mom talking, so sweetly, to him. It would be wonderful words in a book, or even a card for the family to share. Or just something to give to Nathaniel when he grows up.

Snow? You never know where snow might show up. I remember it snowing once near Quantico, Virginia, while I was visiting. You probably wouldn't get a lot of snow, but maybe some. We get snow in downtown Seattle sometimes. Not every year. It might happen once or twice in the winter, or not at all.

Here comes my snow stories: I have been snowed in at Shreveport, Louisiana, and Tucson, Arizona. So just keep a cell phone with you, check the weather, and throw a couple blankets and a winter coat in the trunk of the car.

    2. Snow stories. I was in my mid 20's when I saw snow falling for the first time. We took a winter trip to Durango, Colorado. We moved to Whidbey Island Oct '78. By the week before Thanksgiving the weather turned really cold. I decided to go into town by myself to do a little shopping in the old town stores. When I came out it had begun to snow. For this California girl it was a beautiful and romantic sight. When I finally got home Scott was sweating bullets wondering if I was off the road in a ditch. I got my fill of snow that winter.

  13. Eva, reading about Nathaniel being held by his Mommy made me cry a joyous cry. Today was a very good day for me, but reading your post MADE MY DAY. Hallelujah!

Gloria, your snow story made me laugh out loud. You are such a treasure, California girl!

It started sleeting here around noon. The roads were still warm enough to melt the ice, so I drove home OK. Supposed to start sleeting again Saturday morning, then snowing on Sunday. Monday's drive to work will be interesting! I have to be there Monday to get payroll and end-of-the-month accounting stuff together. If it gets too scary for me to drive, a lot of men with big trucks live near me so I can hitch a ride with any of them.

    Love you all!
