Celebrate Eva's Birthday...

40 comments:

  1. Good Sunday morning, ponders! My cell phone and computer set themselves forward without me having to do a single thing. Love technology.

The rain/sleet/snow event yesterday turned out to be nothing much but high winds and bone cold dreariness. Today, the sun is out & the sky is brilliant blue & I don't need a heavy coat. Our 9 day forecast shows us clearly moving into Spring. YAY!

The crocus, tulips & daffodils will probably start springing up in yards all around town pretty soon. Love this time of year.

Hope you all are doing well. How are our Frog and Wog?

    1. Surfie,
Splendid time of year when the spring flowers pop up through the snow. We'll have a few clocks to reset...the stove, microwave, clocks in bedrooms, living room, bathroom, and my watch. I just checked them..it's.time to change.

  2. Hi all. A great Sunday morning to everyone. I really wish they would quit doing daylight savings. 6 months of the year my car clock is 1 hour off.

Had a great 8 days with my grandkids. Scott and Steve were glad to have me back home and were wanting home cooking.

Froggy, you continue to be in my heart and in my prayers.

  3. Hello all! I'm back and sick again! Can you believe it? I either pick up something from the airports/airplanes or that little Petri Dish I like to call my great nephew Isaac. 3 years old and full of germs he picks up from his little friends. I'm always wiping his nose or reminding him to cover his mouth when he coughs.

I'll write more when I feel better, but I just wanted to tell you all that my week with baby Nathaniel was such a magical time. While I was there, he had one of his "weigh ins" and he weighs 7lbs! Nikki & I jumped up and down in the docs office. He's still a little package, but he feels substantial and now I know he's headed in the right direction. Surfie, I'll get to the pictures.

Love to you all and I'll be back on tomorrow.

  4. Glad you're home, Eva. Not glad that you're sick. Nice to hear that you had a wonderful time with family. Nothing better than that, drippy 3-year-old noses and all.

We got out of the deep freeze today. Last Monday I drove to work on 6" of ice, sleet, snow. It got up to 78 today. I think the hard winter is over. We'll swing up and down temp-wise for a couple of months, but Spring is definitely on its way. YAY!

  5. Sorry you're sick Eva, but happy to hear about our little (k)nat !!! Would like to hear from Froggy, Paget, and Ec though. Prayers continue for all.

  6. hi all, I check in every morning, but need the big guys pc to post. My pc,with all it's protection for the True the Vote, picked up Rovnix,v bug and needs a entire operating system overall. thanks NSA or IRS, what ever you a holes in the regime are doing. Sorry if I sound bitter, I know this is a fun, loving blog site. I appreciate you all and your wonderful posts, I just get ticked for working 5 years to educate and motivate and end up at the pc's doc's office. On a brighter note, my Azazel are blooming, purple formasa in the back yard and some pretty pinkish reds in the front. I enjoy hearing about little Nat, in nightly prayers,as are the rest you posters. We all need the protection of the most High. Love to all, EC

    1. EC,
Wonderful to hear from you. Your flowers sound outstanding. Froggy wanted snapdragons last year in the apartment garden. I don't know if snaps keep coming back or if we have to buy new ones.

  7. Hi to everyone. I have been wondering about our Paget. Hope everything is OK. That little Nat has made amazing progress. Sure would like to see a picture of the sweet little one. Eva, you got your baby fix but came away with a cold. Isaac was just sharing.

I think we are all getting ready for spring. We are actually supposed to get temps in the 60s this week. We have had some wild weather all over the country this winter. In January when I went to daughter's house I saw bare ground while traveling over the pass and we were really behind as far as rainfall goes with resevoirs empty. Right now we are caught up so no water rationing next summer. I was driving home with SIL and he wanted to stop for something to eat. The waitress said, " you guys picked a great time to go over the pass since an avalanche caused a 6 hour delay and they just opened up the highway." We didn't know.

    1. Whoa! Gloria, you just missed an avalanche! What a lucky day. They have them in Colorado too, and the mountain highways get shut down. It's scary when you think about it. They could come down right on your car.

Haven't heard from Paget for a while. I always trust that she'll show up.

  8. My handsome young son turned 24 today. How did 24 years go by so fast? I had to stop myself at work today from writing 3/11/90 instead of 3/11/14. He gave me a good chuckle when he said he feels like he's getting old too fast. Seems his next birthday (25) is the line of demarcation where you are no longer young. Like I said, it gave me a good chuckle!

    1. Surfie, you must be so proud of your son. You can be proud of yourself, too, for raising such a fine young man. We Ponders are happy to celebrate with you.

  9. Deer Eva, so glad you are safely home. You must miss your little Nathaniel. I can see who is going to spoil him. Did Joe survive without you? Hope you feel well soon. I always get jet lag when I travel. Have to sleep for a couple days.

Phooey reminder: NCIS tonight. We started watching The Little People last week when they adopted their baby girl.

I have decided to apply for a job at Salvation Army store. I know what the work is like. I like the people. And they will understand if I need to take Froggy to the doctor.

  10. Wednesday.
Is everyone home? Is everyone okay? Froggy has no visitors (nurses, OT, PT) scheduled for today. Makes her happy. I've been watching news to see what happened to that plane that vanished. There should be debris if it crashed or was blown out of the sky.

  11. Hi Wog. Hi Froggy. I am home today. I am going to try to stay focused and do some cleaning.

Talked to one of my brothers last night. He and brother #2 have some longstanding unresolved issues. Brother #1 has decided to try to mend the relationship. This is a good thing. I hope it goes well. We never know what the future holds. Forgiveness and unity are best.

    Everyone have a great day.

  12. Hello deer pond friends,

I've decided to take a break from the pond. I'm fine, and will keep you all in my prayers.

Love to you all from Paget.

    2. We love you Paget. You will always be a Ponder. Just hop by sometimes, even if it's six months later, and let us know that you are okay. We are always here for you.

  13. Paget, you're in my thoughts and prayers as well. Whatever caused you to take a break, just be well and know we're here if you need us.

Today is my birthday. I'm 59! I keep forgetting about it (probably because I don't feel well). The weather is lousy, but we're headed out to eat. I think I'd rather go to sleep, but if we don't go out we'll be hungry because I didn't make anything. This is what happens when you get old :( Surfie, tell your son he'd better enjoy his 20's!!

    Love to you all.

Paget, I will miss you. Hope it is just for a little while.

    3. I think Paget's son's bday is March 11. Wog and I are both 9/14. I'll be 60!

      Happy Birthday Eva!

Paget, hope you aren't away from us for too long. We will all keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

  15. Gosh, I didn't know today would be so busy. Happy Birthday Eva. We all get 'em. Drats. I know for sure that I don't want to be a year older! Thought I'd put up some news articles this morning, but don't know if I have time before the bus comes. Froggy is up and nervous. She is waiting for OT and PT people to come today.

  17. MARK LEVIN'S NEW BOOK:

Mark's new book, The Liberty Amendments, debuted at number one on the September 1st edition of the New York Times Best Seller List. Soon it became number one on the USA Today list as well. It stayed at number one for 3 straight weeks on the NYT list, and continues to be referenced by many of the best Conservative minds.

  18. RUSH LIMBAUGH'S NEW BOOK:

Clean 'Em Out, Folks -- Rush Revere and the First Patriots is Available Today!

Kathryn came to me and said, "You know what? You are very concerned about education in America and what's happening, what's not being taught, what's being lied about. Why don't you write the truth of American history for kids?" And that turned the light on. I mean, that was exciting on a number of levels. A, the purpose. But, B, the challenge. I'd never written children's books before. I never even thought about doing it.

  19. We couldn't have kids, but we have two grandnephews. I have old history books and bought 3 of Rush's books for them and one for me. One little guy was born in Oct, other will be 3 in June. I have used my foodsaver vac pak for the old books. I am so afraid these little guys won't know the America that we grew up in. I guess I better polish my tin foil hat, but I don't like where this Nation Under God is going. Remember when the Mooch said they would change traditions and history? I thought how do you change history? But they are doing their darn ist. an

    ReplyDelete
  20. We don't have kids, either, EC. Got married too late. We bought Rush's 1st book for us, though. We know the info, but it doesn't hurt to re-read.

I'm glad he's in there fighting. After all, we have congresspeople talking about our 400-year-old Constitution! We can't criticize. Might end up being called racist.

  21. Glad you enjoyed my articles today. Rush and Mark Levin have been busy writing books. Don't know when they have the time with all the other things they do. I had to hurry this morning to post the articles before the bus came to whisk me away.

Birthdays: Love 'em. Love the cake. Love the ice cream. Love the gifts. It's a special celebration for each of us.

Saw on TV and read about a big cat that attacked it's human family. It is a 20 lb. Himalayan, and the family and their dog had to hide out in the bedroom until they were rescued. Our Wolfie was a Himalayan. Sometimes if I lay on the sofa with my arm hanging over the side, Wolfie would bite my hand. I wonder now if it's a breed that is a little bitey. Most of the time he was sweet.

EC, I like how you keep your books safe with foodsaver bags. I never thought of that before. Glad we have some people who are writing true history, and not made up and revised history. I agree with you. History is history. It's not stories you change to suit your own agenda! What kind of nonsense is that?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Good morning. I cannot believe that it is already Friday. This week sped by.

Speaking of revising history I read somthing that was interesting. Arabs are claiming that Albert Einsein was a muslim. Guess that they don't know that he had 3 sisters that never made it out of concentration camps. Einstein himself barely made it to Great Britain before being caught by the nazis.

I am so proud of the nice young people that my grandchildren are becoming. Luke just started his first pt job. He does online school as does sister Grace. Grace will graduate a year early so they will both finish next year. Grace is doing driver's ed now. There are so many hoops to jump through to get a driver's license now.

We seem to be back to our normal rain/wind.

I agreed to make an Irish Cream cheesecake for my son to take to a work pot luck. I don't like making regular cheesecake (it is messy) and don't have a recipe so I had better get busy.

    Have a great day!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Irish Cream Cake, if no recipe can you give us hint? Sounds delish

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ponders want to know:
Gloria, tell us more about the Irish Cream cheesecake. Guess me and EC woke up hungry for something delish.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Cheesecake flavored with Irish Cream which I assume means Bailey's. Isn't Bailey's coffee liqueur with Irish wiskey? It is still kind of iffy as to whether or not Steve will go to his company pot luck. I am not making a cheesecake if I don't have to. (I wrote pot lick and changed it) ha ha. I love cheese cake but making them from scratch is a lot of work besides using 4 pkgs of cream cheese.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ymmy, Yummy cheesecake!! Love it, can't make it, probably shouldn't eat it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Gloria, recipe sounds really good. I never made a cheesecake, but I've eaten plenty of them. We are having a slow start to the day. Guess that's what weekends are for. I see NCIS is on all day. We just watched Chrisley Knows Best. Very interesting show.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I wanted to watch Chrisley but missed it. What did you think about it?

About cheesecake: I make one exactly once a year for Easter. Apricot Cheesecake. It does take a long time to put together and is a tad expensive, but it is SO GOOD!
