  1. Come by the pool everyday this week! Let's enjoy the Summer, and each other's company. Bring friends. Kids and Pets welcome. Barbeque and cold drink on ice at poolside.

  2. Joe & I bought a little plastic wading pool. Sure, we said it was for when my niece & family come up for a visit next week, but we already blew it up (with air, I mean), filled it with cold water and splashed around. I'm so short that I can lie down in it with my head hanging over the edge. I may look strange, but I'm cool :)

So, all my energy lately and this week is devoted to getting ready for Nikki, her hubs, 3 1/3 yr old Isaac and baby Nathaniel (who now weighs over 14 lbs!). Plus, they're bringing my Dad with them. I rented a house a block away for them (except my Dad will stay with us). I'm so excited I can hardly stand still! During the summer, this island (and the whole Shore, really) is so family oriented and now I can be a part of it. I'll be able to walk around after dinner like the others with strollers and hold tightly onto little hands as they gingerly try the ocean for the first time. At 90 years old, it takes his great grandson Isaac to get my father on the beach again. He is really looking forward to checking out Isaac's first sight of the waves in the Atlantic Ocean. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate. If not, Joe has other fun ideas of how to spend the week.

I'm looking forward to not watching TV news, thinking about the mess the Country is in (although my Dad, Joe & I will have some good talks) and just trying to enjoy ourselves. I'm going to pretend to be a low information voter person and not know about anything going on. Probably won't work.

    1. Eva, how exciting for you and Joe! The whole family coming to visit. You're going to need a bigger wading pool. Sounds like Nathaniel is getting chubby. You will need some more photo albums after their visit.

    2. I've just been to Target to buy diapers! Pampers Size 2 Swaddlers for Nathaniel and Size 6 Pampers Cruisers for Isaac. The names just knock me out!

My camera will indeed get a workout next week.

  3. Eva, I am thrilled for you and Joe! You will all have such happy times and make so many memories. Enjoy every second (and keep us posted when you have time).

What kind of camera do you have? I need to buy a simple point & shoot camera and have no idea where to start.

I have been quiet, internet-wise lately. Took Monday and today off work. I realized that I was letting my job dominate my entire life, and it was not healthy. So, over the past 4 days I've been sleeping a lot and doing things for myself that I've put off for way too long. I love my job but have come to realize that I need to have more balance in my life.

The travesty going on in our country right now has brought me to my knees. All I know to do is pray. Please pray for our country, deers.

    Love you!

    1. DH is home until morning so will keep this short. SURF, the RakeKing is missing you. I will be back tomorrow after I get his rig loaded. Busy last few days but we did get to see the movie America, outstanding, good night all, see you on the sunny side.

    2. Surfie, I have a Sony Cyber-shot 10.1 megapixels. Absolutely the simplest point & shoot camera out there (according to the guy at Best Buy, anyway). It's a great little camera and does very well for me.

I'm on my knees with you, deer. We're probably going to see America today at a local theater. I'm hoping that won't make me feel worse!

  4. Good Morning Pond Family,
As EC says, it's now "the sunny side" of the day. I didn't mean to be up. Going back to bed for that early morning nap...Surfie, you know the one. It's the rest you don't get when you're working. Eva, must have been so much fun to shop for the babies. Wish we all could have gone with you to Target. We are nice and cool in Seattle during the night. The sun is up, so it will heat up soon. I'll be back later today.

  5. Loved these! Thanks, 'Wog.

  6. Hi Eva, Glad you enjoyed these. Not sure where I saw them this morning. Just knew Ponders would like 'em. Froggy and I and everyone in Seattle have spent the day trying to stay cool. There will be a couple more days of miserable weather, before it's livable. We moved here just for the cooler weather.

  7. HOW DID SEATTLE GET SO LUCKY?

Obama traveling to Seattle next week

President Barack Obama will visit Seattle on Tuesday to attend an event for the Democratic National Committee, the White House said Wednesday.

It's not clear if the president will travel to the Eastside and further snarl traffic expected to be a mess due to lane closures on Interstate 90. I-90 between Interstate 405 and Bellevue Way Southeast will be down to one lane around-the-clock next week.

    1. I remember his visits to Los Angeles. Hope you girls don't have to get out and about while he's there. That's about all I can say about the garbage in our White House without writing an epistle. Pray for our country, Deer Ponders.

    2. Oh dear. He reeks havoc everywhere he goes. Actually, he doesn't have to go anywhere to reek havoc. Witness today's news. I'm convinced this all is happening because America doesn't have a strong leader. Nobody in the world respects us anymore.

I'm glued to the TV for news in Israel and what's going on with this plane that was shot down, but I swear that once the family shows up on Saturday, I'm not gonna watch the news. Not, not, not...

  8. OHMYGOSH...I did the laundry today. I went to check on the clothes in the dryer. A terrible clinking sound as the clothes went 'round and 'round. Surprise! I washed ...and destroyed my favorite watch. Guess I didn't check ALL the pockets.

  9. WOG, I'm so sorry about your watch. I don't actually wear a watch but have things I'm attached to and would not be happy if I washed them!

EVA, when you turn off the news about Israel when your family arrives, you can still pray. Know that multitudes of us around the world are watching for you and praying with you. Doesn't matter a whit what the press says or how many people get all anti-Jewish in their rants and protests. Israel will prevail.

God Bless Benjamin Netanyahu. God bless Israel. Please, Lord, raise up such a leader here in the United States of America.

  10. I don't know what to say anymore. We don't have a leader; we have someone who only thinks about how to get more votes for "his side." Isn't the president supposed to be president for the whole country?

Yes, Deer Ponders...We pray for Israel's safety, and for our safety too.
Bring back the sanity. I don't know if our country can survive another democrat/socialist (leader??)

  11. Ditto to ALL that Surfhut said. I have three charities I send $ to, one that is most in need at this moment is Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews
    PO Box 96105, Washington, DC 20090-6015 www.ifcj.org
I know that most of us don't have a lot to spare, but we don't have half our populations running for bomb shelters. They need help now.
I have a story about laundry, we had 42 inches of snow on the roof and were getting ready to leave NY for a Florida Vacay. DH put his hunting vest on and went on the roof to get the snow off. When he came in the vest went in the dryer, heard all sorts of banging around, yikes, when I checked the 357 bullets from his Ruger had been in the pocket, the dryer was not shot, and we all survived.
As for getting in the pool, I checked my basket in the closet and all the bathing suits, that had been up there forever, had the elastic dry rotted, so unless I can jump in nakkid, guess I will just have an adult beverage pool side, over and out, good night ladies and gent.

    1. Forgot to say that the Faith Wall 'over there' is looking for Mags and keeping up the prayers.
I liked visiting the Movie wall but two idjits got to Bill and he is quitting. Surf, you need to give him a hug, I am emailing him when I get the right words together. L

  12. Good morning, Deers. I just wrote a post that vanished into cyberspace. Hope it doesn't post twice.

EC, I laughed out loud at your swim suit post. The only place I wear a swimsuit is at my sister's house. Neither of us are spring chickens, so we don't care about how we look in a swimsuit. We also don't care when our adult children swim with us. They are young and beautiful ... but we raised them and have more assets! Plus, not a single one of our young'uns and/or their spouses can beat my PERFECT jackknife off the diving board or my sister's PERFECT back-flip off the diving board.

Our father loved the water. He taught us how to swim. He taught us all the dives. I like to think that he's in Heaven, living on a beach and having a big-dog boat to play around with.

Had another water issue in my apartment. When I came home from work yesterday, water was pouring from the ceiling at the outside wall of my living room where the sliding door to the patio is. He was simply cleaning his patio, but every time he threw a bucket of rinse water on it, it came pouring through my ceiling, washing down the inside of my sliding doors, onto the carpet in my living room. Here I go again! Good news is that this apartment complex was sold from inept owners to new owners on 6/30. New owners have assured me that they will take care of the problems. We'll see.

Love you, Deers. I'm calling Mags today. I feel terrible that I haven't been more in touch. But, I have to take care of myself before I can be a friend to another.

  13. Good Morning, Ponders, and Good Afternoon to some of you.
    Wonderful stories this morning.

EC, thanks for the link to Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein. Israel can use all the help we can give. They need to know that there are people who support them. About the bullets in the dryer. You were lucky. The story brings vivid pictures to mind.

Surfie, so sorry to hear about your roof leaking...again. New landlords need to fix that right away before the bad rains come.

About bathing suits, both Froggy and I lost our Esther Williams swimsuit-figures! We'd be sitting at poolside with the rest of the gang. Surfie, you were lucky to learn to swim. I was always afraid of the water, but Sis and I could float on our backs.

  14. Surfie,
You scared me when you said that your post disappeared. It's really annoying when that happens. So I copied mine before I posted, just to be sure.

Hope everyone has a restful weekend. It's been quiet in our building, and on the street. So we were able to sleep late. A real treat. Froggy's snapdragons came back up, so I am on my way downstairs to do some yard work.

Froggy wants to know..."Where's our Phoobers?"
