  1. Good Morning Ponders, It seems like I just went to bed. What happened to the night? And did I hear something about football?

  2. Hikergal lost a fur baby today, send some prayers her way. I wish Mag would check in, the chemo is so hard, but our thoughts and prayers are always with her.

    1. EC, thank you for letting us know about Hikergal. It's always sad to lose a fur baby. We have pictures in a collage of all of our fur babies. I can't always look at them because I will always miss them.

No, we haven't heard from Mags for a while. Hope she is doing okay.

  3. Good afternoon Pond Friends!

I have been following along for the last few weeks, but haven't had the time or energy to comment. Just too many things going on lately. Today I'm resting and puttering around the house. First on my list is to talk to you.

Surfie; I am so sorry about your family's heart ache. I know this scenario has touched most of us in one way or another. It's so hard to help someone when they don't want to be helped, or when they don't think they have a problem. You have my sympathy and prayers.

Froggy, you mentioned trouble with your hands. Is there something they can do for you? Prayers for your healing!

Yesterday, a friend told me about a new medication she is taking for arthritis. It is called piroxicam. She said it's helped her so much, she is no longer in pain! Her doc said it's much safer to use than the three Aleve tablets she took daily, which could damage her liver. I'm going to see if DH's doc will prescribe it for him. I'm hoping that this med might help some of you who also suffer from arthritis.

EC, your comments about bugs and snakes caught my attention. I don't like any of those, and spiders top my list. Years ago, a "friend" at work heard me say how much I hated spiders. The next day she sneaked into my office and hid plastic spiders all over the room! It totally freaked me out at first, until I realized they were fake. Some friend!

Eva, I'm so glad you got to visit with your family. Visits like that are what keeps us going. My daughter and family were here a month ago for my niece's wedding. I got to see my precious little grandson, Kaden. It was a whirlwind weekend, but it warmed my heart to see that little boy, and to try to keep up with him. He's 20 months old and is constantly on the move!

Wog, I'm also a fan of in- a-gadda-da-vida. DH saw Iron Butterfly in concert back in the day, before they were a huge sensation. They explained that the song was supposed to be "in the garden of Eden" but they slurred the words, so that's how that title came about.

Gloria, I'm very impressed with your remodeling results! I have sore muscles today, and I was just trimming some branches from a tree.

I just saw EC's comment. I'm really sorry for Hikergal, I know how special our dear pets are to us. I'll keep her in my prayers.

I'm thinking of you all; Phooey and Magdalena too.

Love and prayers going out to all of you deer ponders, from Paget.

  4. Paget's here! Paget's here! You've made us happy, Paget. Everyone has been busy with family visits. Phooey and Page are dog sitting. He'll drop by when they return home. Thanks for info on piroxicam. Froggy can see if it's something that will help her.

  5. Hello to all.

We have been trying to finish work on our back deck. I don't think it will get totally done this year. We did the pressure wash and tomorrow I will be the painter. Egad, the weather has not been kind to a 61 year old with diabetes and my 68 YO DH.

So thankful to Dave for his help. He has even had a heart to heart with our son.

I am trying not to watch the news. I have my eyes on the Lord and am waiting for November.

I will try to get back soon.

    1. Howdy Gloria, always wonderful to hear from you. The weather has been a little toasty for doing physical work. But your deck will be worth the effort when it's done. We are here anytime you want to drop by. Love ya...

    2. Oh Dear Ladies, I wish it would be toasty to go outside for work! The mornings still are wet, then it gets so hot, I work the weed eater or hedger for 15 minutes and need a 20 minute break, then we get our Every afternoon thunder showers, can't run the lithium battery tools in the wet. Plus the Beaglie, in his ThunderShirt is all over me and getting in the office chair behind my back. (Only time I can get on the intertube ( as Jo, calls it) Phooey, don't know if you are going through the same, you are west and south of CF. DH is on his way to Tampa and then Atlanta, who knows what he will run into, last week it was 58 in W. Memphis, which was swimming weather when we were in NY but jacket weather ware here. Gloria , if I was closer, I would lend a hammer, we have built many a deck and docks, I was my Dad's oldest Son, until he finally had one, 7 years later. I can swing a hammer blindfolded. Hugs to all,

    3. EC, would love having you here to lend a hand. I don't think we could be farther apart. Work goes much faster with someone to talk to. We have had a break in the weather with some cooling. I did nothing yesterday so today I will attempt to paint the deck. We are left with a large patch of bare ground to deal with too. So thankful for Scott's brother being here to help.

How is everyone else doing? It's Wednesday already. Any plans for the weekend?

  6. Hello Deer Ponders! Another quick 'hi'. Yesterday, Joe & I went into NYC to meet up with my Dad, Aunt & Uncle for lunch. This entailed our getting to the bus station by 8am. The bus arrives at Port Authority (42nd & 8th) and then grabbing a cab to their hotel at 92nd & Madison. Walked blocks to a deli for sandwiches and then back to the hotel. After a rest, Joe & I took our leave and did the cab/bus back to the Shore. I don't consider that we really got to "spend the day" in the city and I have blisters on both feet!

This morning an elderly man from the house across the street, fell down his front steps. Man oh man, did his head bleed! I happened to be looking out the window at the time. I shrieked for Joe and he ran over. The man's wife was already calling 911. It took the ambulance 20 minutes to get here. Luckily, all is well after a trip to the hospital. Another downside to living on an island. Takes too long to get help.

Love to everyone!!!!!! And Mags, don't let that chemo drag you down. We're all here for you!

  7. Where are Mags and Surf, we need an update. Mag I am sure you are too pooped to pop but just let us know you are reading. Super Prayers everyday for you. Surf, Bill (RK) is looking for you, his wife had surgery today and is chief cook and bottle washer. Hopefully they won't starve ! Gloria, you must be on the West coast otherwise, I would pack that hammer.

  9. Personal and work lives have been very stressful lately. A lot of things going on. Some good and some not too good. Wrote a long post, but it disappeared. Please keep me in your prayers.

I just got off the phone with Magdalene. Chemo is ongoing. She sounded great. Please keep our dear Magdalene in your prayers.

    Love you all, Deer Ponders!
