~Let the meal begin~

  1. Hi, gang! Froggy's back. I've been trying to get my computer working this week--I've had to do a complete restore 4 times in a row.... Surfie, how are you? Thank you for your kind note. I'm doing a little better since leaving the hospital. My leg has finally stopped hurting and is relatively stable. Do you and your son have holiday plans together? Are you going to cook? Eva, how are you doing, hon? Do you see your family? Have you had bad snow?

What is everybody doing for Thanksgiving? Where's my Phoobers! Paget, Gloria, are you going to see your adorable grandkids? EC, how about you? We're going to cook a turkey breast, make our delicious dressing from home--and eat pie! I think they're starting my physical therapy this week, too, so I'll keep busy. Woggy's getting 5 days off!

    Tell me about your plans...

    1. Yay, Froggy's back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That, in and of itself, is news to be thankful for :)

I'm all nervous because Joe & I are going up to his folks for Thanksgiving and (that's not why I'm nervous) we're going to have a pet sitter for the first time here in New Jersey. We're just going to be gone overnight, but I'm antsy about leaving Bambu. Probably just me. I did my research and these people sound good. I guess we'll find out. Even if they're a total wipe-out, not much can go wrong in such a short period of time.

  2. Awww Sweetie, you really made my day. So good to know that your leg is better, that you are able to get to your computer and do some Frog Pond business. I have missed having you around.

I am not expecting to go visit the grands for a few months. Unless the weather co-operates. You never know. I no sooner got done saying that I hadn't had a cold or flu in years that I started sneezing and nose running. I right away started with wellness tea and Coldcalm. This is day 3 and I don't think it will get worse. Haven't been anywhere but the grocery. So... everybody be diligent about hand washing.

Turkey breast and dressing for us too. I save baked yams in the freezer to make pie. I am making myself hungry.

  3. Hot diggity dog! Froggy is on the Pond! You have no idea what a perfect Thanksgiving treat it is to hear from you. Glad your leg is doing better. Hope you get the computer squared away soon so you can start writing away. Big fat Surfie Smooch!!!!!

I read Wog's dressing recipe. Sounds delish. Dressing, gravy and cranberries are my 3 favorite things about Thanksgiving. I would drink gravy from a mug if anybody would let me.

Son and I aren't seeing each other this holiday season. He has a new job at Whole Foods (management training) and they are working him unmercifully. I don't want to fly to San Francisco and only get to spend a couple of hours with a very worn out young man.

GOOD NEWS is that I'm moving January 1st to a 2-bedroom. The holidays will be over and he will get time off. He and his girlfriend are flying to OKC for a week. I've met her and love her. He wants her to meet the family. He's going to pop the question soon! I'll take the week off, get to be with them, and host a dinner at my new (bigger) place for the whole family. So excited!

Glad you feel ok Gloria. I can smell sweet potato pie right now.

    Love to all!

  4. Surfie gets a new place! That is too exciting. And your family is coming to visit too. It sounds like 2015 will be off to a wonderful start.

I am taking care of Thanksgiving dinner. Not doing a turkey, but I am making the dressing, and turkey gravy. I tore up a loaf of white bread and loaf of wheat bread, and dried it in oven. Today I cooked 2 Jiffy cornbread mixes which will be cubed and added to the dried bread. Froggy told me what to add to the cornbread mix. Added maple syrup, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, oil, vanilla extract. I wanted to eat all of it when it came out of oven. I saved 4-5 pieces, and cubed up the rest. Need to dry it before tomorrow.

Yes, we will have turkey. I bought turkey slices and spiral ham slices from the grocery deli. I picked out 5 pies, and put two back. Came home with pumpkin pie, mincemeat, and an apple pie. If you have pie, you have to have ice cream! Yes, I bought vanilla ice cream. We won't discuss weight until January!

Hope everyone is home and safe. Looks like East Coast is socked in again. Love and Blessing to all of our Pond Family. Froggy and I love you.

  6. Happy Thanksgiving Surfie and Pond Family, I got up and made Froggy a ham sandwich and a slice of pumpkin pie with Cool Whip. I'm going back to bed. Will cook later. Enjoy your day...and the food.

    1. Hi Phooey, Glad to hear that you and Miss Page are doing okay. Fixing Thanksgiving dinner is a lot of work, and I only cooked the stuffing! It's nice to have someone else do the honors.

  8. Hello Pond Family, Happy Thanksgiving.
I haven't been here because I am a volunteer for True The Vote and then worked on our Veterans Ceremonies. whew, done with both. Our Governor barely beat the idiot Crist by 71,000 votes, Nail Biter and blessing we got the Senate.
On another note, I would like to ask for prayers on this Thanksgiving day. DH is in the Lynchburg ER, he slipped yesterday and tore out his right knee ligament. They are going to put him a straight leg brace for 4-6 weeks. Problem is he can't drive, so how to get our rig, with our stuff and him to the Orlando yard where the personal vehicle is parked ?? I only have a class D, not an A, so even if I flew to Virginia, I couldn't legally get the semi home.
So ladies and gent, enjoy your feasts, and be Thankful for our many blessings.

    1. EC, splendid news to hear that you are doing fine. Yay, on that Governor's vote. You helped with the success of that vote. Ponders are proud of you! Crist talks too much.
A torn knee ligament sounds dreadfully painful. Sounds like something a football player would do. Can you hire someone to drive the rig?

    2. Thank you for your kind words. Couldn't find a driver, they are putting him on a bus from Lynchburg to Daytona Beach, I can pick him up tomorrow. Don't know when we will get our little home away from home rig. BUT we will have Thanksgiving when he gets home. Froggy sure knows about leg pain, braces and such, so glad to hear she is home. He has some ear pain meds that are strong, so he sounds a little goofy, but couldn't get to a pharmacy with the 'script from the hospital. I don't know about doing fine! Beaglie sprained his shoulder and thought I would have to be at the Vet today, but he had a good night. Lady Clairol where are you ? I need to cover this gray hair !!!!!! Birdy's DH posted for me on the Faith Wall, so the warriors are at their best.

    3. EC, just getting on after the holiday and sending big prayers your way for your DH!! He'll be up and at 'em soon. In the meantime, tell him to be a good boy and mind you :)

  9. Prayers for you and DH, deer EC. Hope some kind soul with an A license comes to your rescue. I badly sprained my ankle decades ago. Even though I was young (29) and healthy, it took a full year to heal.

I ate so much yesterday. Three helpings of dinner, plus pie. My stomach was so bloated at the end of the day, I looked 9 months pregnant! It was a good day with family. Love you deers!

  10. BLESS YOUR HEART, the Lynchburg hospital talked surgery, so who knows how long this will be. They put him on a Greyhound and they just stopped in Richmond, insurance won't allow just anyone to drive the rig. Good thing is I can pick him up in Daytona Beach tomorrow and nurse the survivor back to himself. We have gone through Walter Reed, Syracuse VA, 2 cancer surgeries, and a heart attack with 3 stents, this will be a piece of cake, he is tough and stubborn and the prayers get us through, we are truly blessed.
Surfie, you reminded me of a Thanksgiving at DH mom's house, we had another beagle back then, Munchkin, there was two great grandmas, a grandma, and she begged under the table, that night she rolled on her back with paws on her belly and groaned. She was a spoiled little girl, thank goodness she survived her pig out and we had her 14 years, course all the grandma's denied any involvement !!!!!!

  11. Hi Surfie and EC...Thanksgiving doesn't last just one day. Maybe a couple days for the cooking part, and the rest of week for the eating part. Froggy and I both started eating as soon as everything was ready. We ate in the night. We started again early this morning. (Think thin! Think thin! Hope it works!)

Surfie, you must be in the middle of packing. You new life starts soon. Your Pond Family is so happy and excited for you.

EC, wish we could help you more. All we can do is send Prayers for better days. Let us know when DH gets home. You will both feel relieved when he gets home. It's been such a worry for you. Loved the Beaglie stories. I can just picture her laying under the table belly-up, not able to eat another bite.

  12. Did I mention that Seattle got snow? Drats! I needed to go to Sears. But it's too far north on the bus. They could have even more snow up there, and I don't have snow boots. I was going to buy some rain/snow boots when I got there. Maybe I can go tomorrow. Just going to stay home and hibernate today. Froggy already ate and went back to bed. I looked on her and she's under the covers. How's everyone's Thanksgiving? Leftovers?

    1. Hi Wog. It is now 1:20. Snow is gone but it is supposed to get colder with more snow tonight so I hope you decide to go to Sears today.

Lots of left overs except pie. All gone, it was good. I was so busy that I didn't get to watch the game.

Been keeping EC an her DH in prayer.

  13. We had a snowy Thanksgiving, but the roads were clear, thank goodness. It was great to be with Joe's family and I ate and ate. The pet sitters did a great job and Bambu was just fine when we got home. Of course, he dug himself under a mound of pillows and sheets and acted very freaked out, but the sitters' notes showed that he ate and was quite sociable. I think he wanted to punish us for leaving him.

    1. Eva, your Bambu is such a funny, ball of sweetness. We love to hear Bambu stories at The Pond. Stay warm. Stay safe. We worry when we hear about the horrible weather back East. Seattle finally got hit with dastardly weather. I needed to take bus to shop this weekend, but changed my mind when it snowed. Right now it is 5:30 am 23 degrees outside. Anything that I thought I should be doing can wait til next weekend. Will stay home bundled in bathrobe and watch football with Froggy who is bundled in her robe.

  14. I am so thankful for all the prayers, After 26 hrs on a stupid bus, the DH is home in a leg brace and crutches, but good spirits. Just like our Phooey, can't keep a good man down. We will have Thanksgiving everyday. I had to use the Daytona International speedway road to get to the bus station, it is Turkey Run weekend, holy smokes, half of the USA was on that street, bumper to bumper for miles. What beautiful antique vehicles and every Bucky Bad Butt roadsters from all over, some even shipped over from across the pond. Glad to be home, and will now collapse. Thanks again for the friendship of deers.

  15. Good Morning Ponders, Is everyone still munching on Thanksgiving leftovers. We finally ran out of black olives and cranberry sauce. But not to worry, we have plenty of dressing, turkey, ham, pie, and dinner rolls. Fun football day starting at 10am with Chargers at Baltimore, then New England at Green Bay. Our evening game is our beloved Broncos playing their rival Kansas City Chiefs. I can wear my Bronco t-shirt today.
