  1. Good Morning Ponders. Welcome to the day. This cat picture is how I feel. Surely I have gained weight...but I'm not getting on the scales today. My clothes will tell me if there's more pounds than I had last year. We'll be watching football wild-card games today. Not sure who is playing.

Lots of news. Don't think I'm ready for politics today. But...what is Boehner up to now?? And what's your opinion of Harry Reid's new "face lift."

    1. Hi Wog, I'd love to see Boehner lose his speaker job! Louie Gohmert or Trey Gowdy (just to name a few) would do a much better job!

  2. Oh, poor kitty. He needs Nutrisystem for cats. Our kitty Peanut has a beautiful thick winter coat that makes her look fatter than she is.

I read an interesting comment on Harry Reid's accident. The guy said that his injuries make it look like a beating rather than a fall. Broken face and ribs. Hmmmmmm........

    1. Yay! We have been married 45 years. How did that happen?

    3. Happy Anniversary, Gloria. Surely 45 years is a record these days. If couples stay together six months, it's a miracle. May you and Hubby have many more years, blessed with love.

  3. A belated Happy New Year to all you deer pond friends!

It's probably no surprise that my greatest fault is procrastinating! I read all the great posts from everyone and often think, yes, I need to comment on that. Then, I get busy with something else, or I just don't have the energy to go to my computer and respond. (I do most of my interneting on my iPad, which doesn't do well with blog comments) The bottom line is that I care very much about all of you, and you are in my daily thoughts and prayers even when I'm not around. Enough about me.

Wog and Froggy, thanks again for your kind words. I'm so grateful for your blog! I really enjoy checking in to see what everyone has to say. Stay warm over there. We awoke to snow this morning, though with a little luck, it will be gone before tomorrow morning.

Surfie, I was happy to hear about your new friend! One can never have too many friends. When you find a friend who really understands you, it is a blessing! This reminds me, have you heard from Magdalena? I hope she is doing better.

Phooey, I often think of you and wonder how you're doing. My best to you and Page. 

Eva, your descriptions of your area remind me of an Elin Hilderbrand novel. I feel like I'm right there with you on your island. 

EC, I hope your husband is doing better. I love the helpful tips you share with everyone.

Gloria, you and I often travel the same highways. You, on your way east to your grandchildren, and me heading west to see mine. 

My hubby had Friday off, so he did the grocery shopping, and put away all the Christmas decorations. (That was wonderful!) He did complain, however, that Chance (the cat) tried to kill him. ;) Jeff was walking down the stairs with a stack of boxes, and Chance ran in front of him twice and stopped! Luckily, Jeff was able to grab the railing and just tweaked his back a bit. I sympathized but said he should only carry down one box at a time! He said, I knew you'd side with the cat! 

Monday morning is calling, so I need to prepare. Love and prayers to all of you deer ones.

    1. Paget, you are a Deer to remember everyone. Loved the Hubby - cat story. We really miss having one around to trip over. (the cat, that is!) We didn't get snow in Seattle, but had some rain and icy-cold. Was better today. Our apartment stays toasty, and Froggy has a heating blanket on her bed. They make me too hot. I do wear socks to bed. Can't sleep if my feet are cold. We have been digging through our Christmas tin looking for just the right treat to eat while watching TV. I ate the giant malt balls this evening during Dr. Phil.

  4. Oh good lord, look at the size of that cat!!

Just got back from Georgia last night and am trying to catch up. A stomach bug caught just about everyone starting with my niece before we arrived, my dad the day I left and Joe this morning. I was felled somewhere in between. It has to run it's course.

Okay, here are some quick thoughts from what I missed:

Surfie, it almost impossible to make a new friend at our age, so I'm thrilled you've gotten one! How perfect a situation, too. It was obviously destiny. As for the announcement of your about-to-be grandchild, first of all Mazel Tov! Secondly, of course you wish they were married first. I went through it with my niece. There just isn't anything we can do but love them with all their faults and we do. In my niece's case, her divorce from her first husband wasn't final yet so we couldn't rush anything through. Of course, as soon as he heard she had found someone else, he started dragging his feet. All's well that ends well and it has, so years from now, who will remember? At least that's what I tell myself and my dad.

Gloria, your grandkids are so precious! What a great picture. Now when you talk about them we can know who you're talking about. I love putting faces to names. Also, congrats on your wedding anniversary! 45 years is wonderful. My in-laws are married 69 years today. Trouble with that is, you have to live that long!

'Wog, I do have an absolutely adorable picture of Nathaniel, now that you mention it :) It's from a trip to the grocery store and we put him in the shopping cart. Can you do the same thing with me that you did with Gloria? Send me an email and I'll respond with the picture? You have my email, don't you? If not, let me know here and I'll give it to you again.

Ice cold on the Island today and very windy, but sunny. Tomorrow, it may snow.

  5. Hi Eva, I sent you an email. Do you still have att.net ? So many posts; someone mentioned Magdalene. Maybe Surfie can give us an update. When I was looking for your email, I found name for Hikergal on my list of Ponders. Guess she doesn't come by anymore.

  6. Hi Ponders. Hope everyone is off to a good start this new year. Looks like
Boehner is still speaker. I need to read up on who voted for who.

    1. I'm totally bummed. Sixty percent of Republican voters wanted Boehner replaced, and our representatives voted for him anyway. It's supposed to be the people's house!

  7. I thought sure that Boehner would be out. What a loser! The Pond is the only place I can go to vent about the bad side of our government.
