Good Morning, Pond People!

  1. Good Morning! Catzes is back. Yay! How's the weather? It's pouring down here.

Do you believe my doctor's office STILL didn't call me back? I feel very ignored. On the other hand, I must not have a serious infection or else they would have made a point of contacting me. I guess I just have to wait until it's all out of me.

Good thing I have no intentions of going out at all today. Definitely a day to stay inside and cuddle the furballs. Back later.

  2. .... then again.... maybe they are all sick now and home because of you!......
Ohh, Hi gals! Just wandered into the apartment to pick up a few things we forgot. Love.

  3. Hihihi! Are you still sick, Eva? I'm mad they didn't call you (though I'd be surprised if they could really do anything about this). We can't seem to shake it; I mean to post articles here, but I'm so tired, I just give up the ghost on it. It's 43 degrees, but it's every bit as snowy and icy as the pic I posted a few posts below. Seattle doesn't recover well... The sun might come out this afternoon but, curiously, that desn't really make it warm or bright here in the winter. I don't even sunburn in the summer, either.

Phooey, how are you and Ms. Page doing? When's your test? I'm praying it's not as painful for you, this time! The 'Wog just went to the little store around the corner--they're closed--and now she said she'd try and get a bus up the hill. We need a few things. She's the type that has to get out of the house during the day for a bit, or she gets nervous and starts pacing about the house, changing all the trash bags, and touching every third thing. I hope she brings back some more popcorn...

Gloria, I forgot what you said about your weather--was this worse up north where you are? Kiss Peanut for me--I'm very jealous of all brand new cats!

Prayers for Paget safe trip; she's braver than she knows for wanting to fool with the airports this time of year. Of course, she doesn't have to mess with that leviathan that strikes fear into the heart of every traveler here: SeaTac Airport! It's a huge, sprawling mess--always under construction--and you have to park your car so far into the bowels of the garage that you have to draw a map to find it again--I mean that, too. I always laugh like crazy when the traffic reporter on KONG et al says chirpily it's '35 minutes to SeaTac' from here. (It can take that long to catch the freeway on ramp and circle our building at rush hour, here. The airport is another hour + down the road.)

How's the weather in Oklahoma and back east, gals?

  4. I am seriously considering going to Spokane next time on the train. I have taken the Airporter to the airport a few times. Traveling is a crazy thing now a days. I hate the idea of creepy strangers touching me or looking in their scanners.

I really hope Paget has a great trip.

We are thawing out today. I got to go to the library and the knitting shop.

Talked to my brother who lives in Auburn. They did not fare as well as us. Still without power. They have a community well and someone has to keep the generator fed so the neighborhood will have water. He was going out to try to fill up his wallet and the gas can. They have no cable, phone and the freezer has been off for 3 days. So I guess we are doing pretty good.

I think about doing some more preparedness stuff in the middle of summer but never quite get around to it. Having extra water put away, a way to get warm, a way to cook, some extra batteries, and some cash on hand. If the weather cooperates this year I will be planting extra stuff.

  5. Phooey, I got a chuckle out of your comment to Eva... about the doctor's office being sick!

Gloria, our buses finally came up the hill today. That means we can get groceries. But I stocked up on Tuesday with extra bread and munchies. We also have emergency water in a couple places in the home.. kitchen, bathroom, bedroom.

I think Froggy sounds better, not coughing so much.

Will talk with everyone later or tomorrow.

  6. Phooey, I actually thought the same thing! But no, they're there. For some reason, only this one nurse can give me my results, I guess. She's the one who won't call back. To hell with them.

  7. Did I hear a PhooBad go off? LOL!

You know, Gloria, preparing a cache for power outs is a good idea--we talk about it and need to do it. The thing is I don't know how we'd keep warm and I'm always in a lot of pain when I get thoroughly chilled to the bone. We can't keep it consistently warm in here NOW... I didn't know Auburn was out.

Watcha knitting? I never could get the hang of that.

The 'Wog and I moved up here right after a trip on 9/11, so you know we're not going to fly anywhere we don't have to. I swear, we were watching everybody and counting the 6-7 muslim heads on the plane, watching where they sat and how often they got up--it was nerve-wracking. I was healthier then, so I was ready-to-tackle! We'll take the Clipper back to Victoria, or rent a car and drive to Vancouver or up Rainier or to the Olympic penninsula, but we're done with planes.

I've been showing 'Woggy how to beat me at cards; I need some more popcorn! I hope all is well, everyone. See you tomorrow!

  8. There has to be a safe way to stay warm when there is no power. I will have to look into it. The key is safety.

I have been knitting those earflap snowboarder hats that the kids wear. I sent 4 of those to the kids an a hat and sweater set for Celeste. She is so cute. A bald baby. When I go to the yarn shop I start getting creative with all the pretty yarns and textures. I don't sew anymore because I don't have space to set up. This keeps me busy.
