Bee-utiful!

  1. 'Woggy is staying home today--we have too much trouble from the anarchists on May Day, and we're in between the two parade routes. Do your cities have these roving bands of thugs on the first like we do?

    Eva, how is Sis doing?

    1. Hi Froggy,

That's a bummer about those revolting anarchists. I remember all the destruction in Seattle during the 1999 WTO conference. The May day tradition I'm familiar with is putting little bouquets of flowers on neighbors porches, and then ringing the doorbell and running away. That was a nice gesture. Our neighbor kids left flowers on our porch when they were little. Then we noticed they picked the flowers from our front yard. :)

  2. Froggy, she's out of the hospital, but I'll have to wait until later to find out how's she's doing. When I talked to her last night, she was pretty dopey. She said they gave her morphine for the chest pains. Morphine? She had nitroglycerine (sp) but says it didn't help. I think I'd better get the news from either my niece or my dad.

Paget, I had to laugh reading your post yesterday. Your MIL sounds like my dad. We always say to him, "Do you think everyone in the restaurant/store is entitled to your opinion?" With hearing aids in both ears, he still can't hear how loud he is!

  3. I'm glad to hear she's okay, Eva. What did they think the pain were caused by?

Our Uncle Elmer was so deaf--you had to holler and then hold the phone about a foot from your ear. We lost him last year in his middle 90's. Sissy has some hearing loss--I have ears like a lynx.

  4. Hi Eva, if your sister is home that sounds very hopeful.

I do have some hearing loss. Froggy is always after me to get it checked. The cold I have plugged up my ears, so this week I'm really deaf. I don't know how people afford to buy hearing aids.

  5. Paget, welcome back. Glad you had such a special time with your grandkid. They really do grow so fast. Take lots of pictures. Let us know about your eye visit. Must be so hard when your sight is not quite right.

  7. Hi gang. It's been raining all day which gave me time to cleanup much of the junk on our computer. Tomorrow see my primary Doc and get a routine EKG. Maybe Page and I will have lunch out if it's not still raining. Everyone have a great day.

  8. Here in one of the reddest of red states, we don't have those idiots marching around on May Day. I remember them when I lived in SoCal. Read that downtown Los Angeles was clogged with them today.

It's really interesting, living in OKC. The stupid stuff that goes on in our country, the stupid stuff you hear on national news and local news in places like Los Angeles ... just doesn't cut it here. I must say its nice to live around a population who's majority is conservative.

Paget, loved your story! We are both named Debbie! Doesn't your son also have a March 11 birthday?

Eva, I agree that the real news about your sister should come from your dad or niece. Please keep calling her as a sister every day because I'm thinking a sister call will help her recover. She'll feel the love!

Going through another weird weather event like so much of the country. It's been in the 80's. The temp. is dropping fast, and big storms are coming in tonight. Supposed to get down to 29 and up to only 45 with strong winds through Saturday. Global Warming! Glad I haven't planted anything or cleaned my winter coat yet.

    Love you, Deer Pond Family.

    1. Hi Surfie,

Yes, there are lots of us Debbies out there! Were you named after Debbie Reynolds? My mother named me after their minister's wife.

My March 11 son is now 35! Boy, does that make me feel old! How is Mike doing? Did his fiancé make a full recovery after her accident? Hope so!

  9. Well, today I had the absolute best conversation with my sister. Unexpectedly, my niece came over with her son and introduced him to his Grandmother. We were afraid of how he'd react. He's only 2 1/2 and she looks very scary. My father said she looks like a bag lady, her hair is white, she has 4 teeth in her mouth. It's really awful. I can barely think about what she has been through (what her husband put her through) and we didn't know all these years. He has some nerve trying to get her back. Don't get me started on that.

My sister couldn't stop talking about the little one. After we hung up, I emailed my niece to find out if it went as well as my sister made it sound. She emailed back that it couldn't have gone any better. What a relief! We had talked and planned out their first meeting to the nth degree, but here it happened on the spur of the moment. So much for our fears.

I still don't know what's causing her chest pains, but it doesn't appear to be a cardiac emergency. There are so many things to do to get her situated and cared for. Maybe we're all in too much of a hurry. We all have lists about what we think should be done. Number one on my father's list is getting her to a dentist. Maybe first she should just rest and eat decent food (as best as she can with no teeth) and get her strength back. I don't know. This is the blind leading the blind.

    1. Oh, dear Eva, I am so sorry about what has happened to your sister. I don't know what to say. I shudder to think what she has been through. About your sisters chest pains, did you know that indigestion or reflux can cause chest pain. Especially if she is swallowing food that is not properly chewed. Just a thought.

Over the last 43 years of marriage Scott and I have been through some rough times. He isn't perfect and neither am I but he has never raised a hand to hurt me or even called me a bad name. I feel blessed.
