  1. Howdy, Hot Ponders,
I'm jealous of the Ponders with air conditioning. We were steaming all night. Poor kitty. I turned the fan on him at bed time. He didn't like it, and started howling. I thought it would make him cooler. It just made him mad.

    1. Hiya Hiya. We have no air conditioning either. I do a modified version of the way my Mom kept our house livable. On the north side windows are open. On the sides of the house that the sun shines on I close the shades and windows during the heat of the day. When the sun starts to go down I open everything up again till morning. Fans going most of the time. I did what I could but yesterday in the evening it was miserable.

    2. 'Wog, I put a fan on up in the loft because Bambu likes to sleep up there. I aim it right at him. I think he likes it, but I also know he can adjust his distance from it if necessary.

  2. Cute kitty picture today. But, of course, I would say that about all cat pics. I just wondered if they really have tiny hammocks for cats... and how would you convince them to stay in it.

  4. Hi 'Wog. The picture doesn't show for me. Maybe the NSA stole it.

  5. Phoobers, I've been trying out NCIS all weekend. How realistic is it? They have a nice balance of technical stuff and action...

  6. That was funny. We went from 2 to 8 comments in secs.

  7. Now get this. Yesterday was the hottest day of the year and My lunkheaded neighbor decides he is going to torch dry weeds and grass in his backyard. My house was getting smoked up. Scott thinks the guy is a little off kilter so he didn't want to say anything. We have never had trouble with neighbors. I have never called the Sheriff or the Fire Dept but I was close.

    1. Gloria,
That is a lunkheaded neighbor! You can hope that some of the smoke went into his house.

  8. I'm wondering if I can post now without conflicting with others. That was really weird, the three of us typing/posting at the same time.

Gloria, does you neighbor drink much? because it reminds me of another story about killing a hornets nest.

Froggy, seriously doubt any agency has the technical wherewithal that NCIS does. However, I've been out of the civilian 'spook' business for decades. Page and I have been watching the same reruns this weekend as you have. We love the drama.

  9. Aha. Another piece to the puzzle. Phoo I had no idea you were a "spook." No wonder you like NCIS. Your hornets nest story was funny

About Lunkhead. He has been here about 5 years. I wouldn't know him from Adam if I ran into him at the store. Drinking? Could be. A few years ago he burned stuff between our houses. The next day while Lunkhead was at work Scott noticed smoke and had to drag a hose over to put out a fire that had started again.

    1. Gloria,
You'll need to put fire alarms on the outside of your house. And maybe a couple cameras for the insurance if he burns down the house. And maybe a couple big fans to blow the smoke to his backyard.

  10. Loved reading today's posts! Phooey the Spook!

Please say a prayer for my family. Paul passed into Heaven late last night. Very happy for him that he went so quickly. He's just where he wanted to be: in Heaven with our Lord and his wife.

  11. Hello pond friends,

We had a fun, busy weekend with family and friends. Baby Kaden turned on the charm and smiled and laughed with everyone all weekend. Friday night, Stephanie and Erik went out with friends and I babysat our sweet baby. I fed him, and rocked him until he fell asleep. Then I decided he couldn’t go to bed without a fresh diaper. Big mistake! He woke up during the “changing” and screamed and cried his little heart out. I felt so bad! Stephanie laughed when she heard about it and said, oh mom, you don’t want to change him once he’s fallen asleep. I sure learned my lesson! 

Surfie, I got my DNA results back. According to them, I’m 51% British Isles; 31% Scandinavian, and 18% Eastern European. That last part really surprised me, as I had no clue. What I like about Ancestry.com is that once you get your results, they link you to others who might be your relatives. Distant relatives, but it might be fun to pursue. 

Froggy, Wog, and Gloria; you have my sympathy dealing with all that heat and no air conditioning! It’s now 106 over here, but we all have air conditioning. We couldn’t survive the summers without it.

Eva, at least you have air conditioning too! How hot did it get down in LA today? I’d say the heat is a good excuse to take a break from your packing. Curl up with a good book and a nice cool drink. (That’s what I plan to do when I get home tonight!)

Phoo, that was an interesting tidbit you threw out there. So you were a spook! I bet you have some interesting stories to tell! 

Gloria, I have an annoying neighbor like yours. Thank goodness he doesn’t start fires! He just sic’s his dog on people. 

Surfie, I just read your post about Paul. I’m so sorry for your family. I will keep them in my prayers.

I’ll sign off now. Good night deer friends. Love and prayers to all.

  12. Thanks for the update, Paget. I loved hearing about Jaden's diaper. Our little Isaac (my great-nephew) is getting close to being potty trained now. I'm not sure he understands, though, that he needs to get to the potty BEFORE he starts going. While I was skyping with them recently, the need arose and he headed over to the potty AND TOOK HIS SHIRT OFF. My niece was laughing and telling him, "No, no, your pants. Your pants. That's right and now your diaper. Oh well." Oh well is right because he definitely didn't get them off in time. I'm sure he'll get the hang of it eventually.
