  1. Mornin'! I slept 10 hours last night. Made the decision not to go to work today. Found out that Ree Drummond's (Pioneer Woman on Food Network) family is competing in the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association annual rodeo today and tomorrow. I'm going to the rodeo to cheer on Team Drummond. Trying to connect with other fans via Twitter so we can sit together.

Things are going to get less stressful for me at work, but it's going to be super stressful until the changes are in place.

My boss, Janice is CFO. She has a huge office, so I'm moving in with her so she can start teaching me a lot of CFO stuff. We're getting a secretary to do the accounting dept. stuff I do now. AND the owner has fired 2 completely useless people (one in the machine shop and one in shipping/receiving) and hired smart, capable people. A TON of work I do now will be transferred to them. Glad he finally realized that the company is getting so big he needs to pay more to get competent people in those positions, and he can't just keep dumping work on me.

So, I'm getting a promotion, a secretary, a big pay raise. But the transition will be wiggy.

And I'm taking 3 days off next month to fly to San Francisco to be with my son for my birthday. I've had travel plans on the calendar for a long time and told the owner I am NOT not going, even if it will be smack in the middle of this transition. He knew better than to even think of telling me to postpone the trip.

Who knew that taking a job in a crappy little hydraulics company, in my late 50's, would turn into this? God is certainly watching over me.

Now I feel guilty for talking about myself for such a long time. Sorry! Thanks for letting me rattle on!

  2. Hi Surfie,
I'm so glad to talk with you this morning. Who knew what opportunities you would have when you started that job. I try to stay positive, and look for opportunities. Also you pointed out something very important... you need to take time for yourself.

So I'm going to talk with Froggy, and let her know that I need to stay home one day next week. There's things I need to do at home to, and I need to put in applications at a couple of temp agencies.

Surfie, if there was any place where you could express your feelings or talk politics or share your day, it would be at The Pond with your Friends.

    1. Wog, I know it will be hard for you and Froggy when you stay home for a day. In the long-run, it will be good for both of you. Our dear Froggy is being taken care of. You need to take care of yourself and do what you need to do in order to go forward. If you don't take care of yourself, you will be of no use to Froggy when she comes home.

I would like to call dear Froggy. Please let me know a phone number. My email address is: surfinghome@gmail.com

      Love you!

    2. It's going to be tough on Froggy to not see you one day, but I know you'll be on the phone with her and be able to cheer her up and cheer her on that way.

It's important for you to take a day for yourself, too. I know she'll understand.

  3. Howdy Ponders,
I made good time coming home. Was a quiet visit. Froggy's roommate spent the day out with her family. Froggy and I took a lot of naps. I'm getting used to dozing in a chair. There is always someone dropping in: doctor, nurses, new nurse, aids, cleaning people, people to take temperature, people to test blood, people to bring meals.

Now that I'm home I'm watching NCIS. Haven't had time to read the news, so that's on my list to do this evening. And then I'll play a couple online games. What's left...eat and nap. If I find a couple of good news stories, I'll post 'em.

What exciting things has our Pond Family been doing?

  4. Deer Phooey,
Froggy apologizes for cutting short your phone call. Like I said above, there always seems to be some hospital business going on. Hope you and Miss Page are well.

  5. How is everyone doing this Sunday morning? I'm making a quick trip to the grocery store before it gets beastly hot outside. Then just puttering and napping and puttering some more. Hope everyone has a good day!

  6. Hi everyone...
I'm on my way to care center. Will read posts this evening. Is there any political news that I'm missing?

  7. Good Evening Pond Family,
I'm home now, and I am staying home tomorrow. Need to rest and do things around the house. Froggy was napping today, and so was her roommate. So I napped too. Just one of those lazy days. We thought maybe it was the weather change...kind of drizzly.
