Monday is too scary for me. Let's have kittys.

  1. Good Morning, Pond Family,
The government shutdown is wearing on my nerves. We all have enough problems without something stupid like this. Our founders never meant for the government to be so........(what's a good word?)

    1. Wog, everything I've read says that social security checks, and military pay will continue. I hope that is correct!

    2. Thanks Paget, I was really worried about the social security checks. I thought I heard the military pay might get cut. You know...a government really shouldn't anger the military. Can they say "coup?"

  2. I've also heard that social security & military pay will continue. Who knows what will happen between now and midnight in DC. We really need to drain the DC swamp. I've called and emailed my Congressman and Senators. Nothing more I can do except pray for our country.

New secretary, Melinda, started today. She is smart, has good common sense, very sweet, and drop dead beautiful. She's working her way through college (going to night school). You can really tell on day one if someone is going to work out or not. Melinda is definitely a keeper. I can't tell you how relieved I am. Happy Dance!

Now, I'm going to make myself some dinner. Found some steaks on sale over the weekend. Am having a steak, Caesar salad (my father taught me how to make it), and potatoes roasted with garlic and onions and bell peppers.

    I'm a happy woman!

    1. Surfie, so glad your new employee is working out. A secretary is important to the office.

I see another cookbook. How about "Recipes My Father Taught Me."

  3. I'm about to add some troubling news on top of the troubling news on TV. I wouldn't do this, but you're my friends and I need you. Puffin is in the hospital. He's lost more weight. He's on an IV for fluids and they're going to do an ultrasound on his neck tomorrow. X-rays show a slight displacement of his trachea (as if there's a growth pressing on it). The vet sent us to this animal hospital because their hospital was destroyed by Sandy. I HATED this place! It's huge and cold and impersonal and 45 minutes away from us. I HATED having to leave my little Puff there overnight. They took him away and gave us his empty carrier to take home. I left it in the car. I couldn't let Bambu see us come in with a carrier and no Puffin. Thank G-d Joe was with me. I couldn't have handled it on my own. I've spent the day crying. I tell you one thing, if it's cancer, I'm taking my boy home and he'll live out his remaining days with loving arms around him. I'm not going to have him poked and prodded and operated on. Not at his age. After the ultrasound is over I want to take my baby home. They can call me with the results from the lab.

    1. Eva, I'm so sorry that Puffin is having such a rough time. :( I'm praying for healing for Puffin, and comfort for you and Joe. God bless you all.

    2. Deer Eva and Joe, I am so sorry that your baby is sick. My heart hurts for you. He tried to hang on until you came to your new home. The trip didn't make him sick. I have always been the one who takes our sick babies to the vet. I am crying now because I know how hard it is. We are here for you anytime, day or night. You are doing everything you can. Bring your little guy home.

    3. So sad to read about Puffin. Eva, you and Joe and the kitties are in our prayers.
