  1. Happy football Sunday! So glad Eva's Bulldogs took the day yesterday. I'm with you rooting for the Seahawks today. Yesterday, my Sooners won over Notre Dame (was a tad worried about this one). We're 4-0 for the season so far.

    What's everyone doing today?

    1. Oh boy...Seattle is having a rough first half... I get too excited about games like this and do better listening from a distance (down the hall in the den, on my computer.) I know all I need to know by Hubby's yells from the living room!

  2. Hello everyone!

Wog, I'm glad to hear that Froggy will be home soon! Please take time to rest yourself, as you have so many responsibilities!

Eva, I'm sorry Puffin is so ill. It's always scary when cats stop eating.

Last week seemed to be all about the animals for me. My parents were out of town, so my sis and I covered the morning and evening "shifts" feeding and pampering their senior citizen kitty, Solo. He is a beautiful white Persian who is 13. He is a rescue kitty, and he's had the life of Riley ever since my parents adopted him 5 years ago.

(warning, if you're eating avoid the next few lines) Wednesday night I noticed that either my dog Kaiser, or kitty, Chance, had vomited. I noticed this because I stepped in it on our dark staircase. I was concerned that it was Kaiser who's had some issues lately. Thursday afternoon, I took him in. The vet said he seemed okay. Well that was good news! I called Jeff after leaving and he said Chance had just thrown up. *sigh* So, at first I thought that was okay, because Chance has a history of vomiting if he eats too quickly. Just to be on the safe side, I weighed him when I got home. He had lost 2 pounds! That is a lot for an 11 pound cat! Friday afternoon I made another trip to the vet with Chance. The tricky part was getting him into the cat carrier. He's very strong and he was not happy! (How do you manage that, Eva?) The vet checked him out and did blood work. I told her he seemed fine at home. I do know we need to monitor his food better, because hubby always keeps the cat bowl full. Vet said cats are funny, because they'll eat bugs, and other things that can make them sick. I know he always goes psycho if he sees a moth or fly. We'll find out the results on Monday, but I'm hoping it was just a reaction to a bad bug. His appetite seems okay, but I'm keeping an eye on his dish.

I'm going now to check on the Seahawks. Have a great Sunday, everyone!

  3. Thanks for your thoughts yesterday 'Wog. We all get so crazed when we can't help our animals.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for Chance, Paget. Let us know tomorrow what the results of the blood work are. We don't have problems getting our cats in the carrier to go to the vet, but they "serenade" us during the entire drive. I was actually glad to hear how pissed off Puffin was when we brought him in last week because it was the loudest he had been in days.

I'm feeling a little cautiously optimistic today about him. He still isn't eating normally and he's way too skinny, but he walks around with his tail up and curled and he greets Bambu with a couple of licks around his face, which he stopped doing before. He drinks water on his own and uses the litter box the way he always has. He purrs readily. I just can't get over how narrow his hind end is. I won't know if he's lost more weight or gained some ounces back unless we bring him back to the vet. I don't have a scale in the house. When Joe gets back tonight, I'll see what he thinks. I spent the entire morning scrubbing floors and dusting and cleaning corners of the rooms.

  4. Hi Pond Family,
I thought I had posted something this morning before I left. I had time because when I got to Federal Way, I had to wait an hour for the first bus on Sunday to take me to the care center. Watched two football games with Froggy.

Gosh, I hope everyone's kittys are okay. It's such a worry sometimes. They are part of the family.

A Filipino friend sent this video. Thought you might enjoy it too. It's called "tinikling" in the Philippines. This one is danced to Michael Jackson tune which gives it a lot of energy. Don't they do something like this in Hawaii or Samoa? Anyway...turn on the speakers or headphones. Enjoy.
