Good Morning, Pond People!

  1. Morning all! The sun is out. Puffin's meowing loudly. Typical morning in SoCal.

    Thinking about Surfie today.

  2. Good morning! Thanks for thinking about me today, Eva. So far, I'm doing OK.

I'm going to church, take a long walk, then visit Aunt Lynda. She is doing better. She became a widow 3 years ago. We might cry a little, but will spend most of the time remembering hilarious things about our husbands and laughing ourselves silly.

Then I'm going to either Ralph's or Von's. Hope they aren't on strike yet. I have no problem crossing a picket line. If it looks volatile, I'll go to Trader Joe's.

My son picked a fight with me. He eventually realized he was just emotional for obvious reasons. We ended up having one of the most heartwarming conversations we've had in a while.

It's going to be a good day. My apologies for rambling on!

  3. A silly thing my Joe used to do: As part f his job he was a nuke plant fire fighter so he had his own gear when he moved on he took the gear with him it had a NOMEX hood, he would put it on at night and become the Black Ninja and run in the kids room after they went to bed and start a wrestling match going!Well the kids loved it but they never saw the Nomex hood and to this day swear Daddy wore underwear on his head to become the Black Ninja! The big debate points are was it Mom or Dad's underwear and ohhh please Lord I sure hope it was clean!!
Hope this Made everyone at least smile because just remembering it has me sitting here by myself laughing so loud the dogs think I'm nuts!
    Love all y'all to pieces

  4. HG, it made me giggle for sure! What a fun memory! He sounds like quite a guy, your Joe.

Isn't it odd, Surf, how emotional times promote arguments when they really aren't meant. I used to know when I was starting something with my parents when I did it, understood why and still couldn't stop myself.

I have no problem crossing grocery store picket lines either. I'm disgusted with them.

  5. One of my favorite memories of Ray was after Mom had a significant stroke. My Dad wore himself out taking care of her. Ray loved my parents, and they loved him.

Ray knew Dad needed a break, so he paid to fly them to SoCal and rented a beach house from one of his clients for the weekend. Ray spent the weekend showing Dad a good time. They played golf and rented a boat to putter around and go fishing.

The boys had a great time together and Dad could relax because I was taking care of Mom. One of my favorite pictures is of Ray and Dad sitting on the deck together after a big day of fun, watching the surf roll in.

I worried about the money we were spending. Ray told me in no uncertain terms that my Dad was due some FUN. It was a wonderful weekend for all of us, but especially for Dad.

One more reason why I love Ray so much.
