Good Morning... trying to stand tall.....

19 comments:

  1. Stand as tall as you can... and then stretch some more. As much as I'd rather stay in bed when I have a problem, it only postpones things.

I know you don't feel as though you can take on a furry friend right now, but maybe you should anyway.

  2. I wholeheartedly agree Eva! And, Froggy will always stand tall in my sight! I love you, all!

  3. Mornin'.
Frog and Wog, I have been thinking about your situation since last night. I agree with Phoo in that you should give disability a try. From what I understand it takes a few tries. Wog should be eligible for unemployment. She has been paying into that fund her whole working career.
Because of Wogs age and Frogs health you may be able to get Senior Housing. Might be worth looking into. I have a friend who is in one. The buildings are very nice, secure and energy efficient. I have been there and it is very nice. Her rent is based on her income. Another thing is that Senior services has a transportation van that takes them to grocery shopping and appointments and comes and picks them up and takes them home. This is Snohomish County. Sometimes King County has more and better and sometimes we do.
Froggy sometimes I think about you being all alone in a Seattle high rise and it concerns me.
Let me know if there is anything I can do.
Prayers. (Sreiously, the Lord puts you on my heart often during the day.)
    Love ya both.

  4. I have something to share - faith wise. I have shared it on the Connection Faith wall before.
Everyday I go to the website One Voice Ministries. Click on Daily Prophecy. Each day is different. ALWAYS uplifting and encouraging. I am all about being uplifted and encouraging others. It is a little word from the Lord, a commentary and a prayer. It is non-denominational. Everyone can benefit from an uplifting word. In this day when everything seems to be going wrong it is nice to hear good stuff from our Heavenly Father.
    More love on ya.

  5. May I say that Froggy and I know some very kind, special people on the Pond. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions and support.

I am on my way out to the Worksource, and to ask about unemployment. If Froggy gets disability, we can both move to senior housing.
I have already contacted Mayor's Office for Seniors. They help older people find work. I know a lady that works there. I also have six people lined up for references.

How many times have things gone wrong.. only to turn out better than what you had!

I'll drop back on when I get back. Might be a while because I am on the bus.

  6. Yeah ! May I be the first one to volunteer for the cheering squad.

If our situation were slightly different DH an I would be looking at Senior Housing.

King an Snohomish Counties have slightly different programs. I think the transportation thing is wonderful.

  7. Thank you for all your suggestions and love--I'm trying to hold it together. Woggy is more optimistic than I am; I just see us sleeping under some bridge soon...

  8. Oh Froggy, you & I are so much alike sometimes! But no bridges for you two. I'm so impressed with 'Wog's can-do outlook! Who on earth could turn her down? Who wouldn't want someone like that working for them? I sure would! Gloria has the kind of info that I lack. Bless you, Gloria.

I finally was able to bring Boomer home today. He's in a beautiful box, with his name and the dates engraved on a plaque. The crematory included his paw print impressed into a clay mold, a certificate guaranteeing that this was, indeed, Boomer, a condolence card, and flower seeds to plant in his memory. We're very pleased with how it was handled. Now our little family is back together again.

  9. I'm so sorry about Boomer. I've held off posting his pictures so as not to hurt your feelings (we couldn't look at our babies until months later--and it still hurts).

I'm just so scared. I can't live apart from Sis--we love each other too much. She's the only person I know in Seattle. I don't know anyone anywhere else, either. I have to make sure she's okay. I know I'm keeping her from moving into senior housing. Her life would be so much easier if I wasn't continually holding her back... I've been such a drain on her. I feel so bad that I can't help her. I picture her in a nice senior apt. with a little cat where she could be happy... some nice place where she could do what she wanted. I think she'd do so much better...

  10. P.S. And yes she does have a much better attitude than I do--she always has had. I worry too much and catastrophize. I think she'd be happy by herself. And a cat--she'd have to have a little cat--she loves them so.

  11. YOU SILLY....Senior housing is NOT just for seniors! I really encourage you to try for your disability. Is there an Ombudsman. A lot of info is available on line.
If you don't know anyone in Seattle then you have no attachments there. Shake the dust off your feet!
In my friend's building there is a younger man taking care of his mother and living with her a few younger people confined to wheel chairs. She lives in a newish place in Lake Stevens. 2 people = 2 bedrooms. How about Woodinville or Bothell or Lake City? Look online for a list of low cost senior housing and go from there. make a phone call or email the contact. I know that the situation looks huge but you can do it! You are one smart cookie.

PS I need to learn how to do those little expressive emoticons and such. My ! is wearing out.

  12. Hooly!, I know what you mean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. You gals and The Phoo are the best! Froggy didn't change the picture today so we can just keep posting under this cute kitten.

Eva, what they did for Boomer sounds so beautiful and caring. Thanks for sharing your little guys with us. I wanted a special container for our little Bad Boris.

But you know what Froggy does. She keeps their whiskers. So we still have them close. Boris had white whiskers, 'Nado had black whiskers, Zee had white whiskers with a black stripe at the base.

Gloria are you the one and only Hooly? I am going to write everyone's name on a card. Anyway I will go to a senior apartment and have a look around. There is one not too far from here, but they built it on a steep hill. And yes they have the special Access bus that will come and take you to appointments.

There is a disability attorney group close too. This one will help you fill out the paperwork. Just need to get Froggy over there. I want to do all these things before I go back to work. Right now Froggy doesn't feel safe. But I assure all the Ponders that we are not going to live under the bridge!

  15. Hello 'Wog,

It's been crazy at work, and I haven't checked in for a few days. I wanted to tell you how sorry I am about your job! However; you are so optimistic, and you have such a positive attitude, I know you'll find a job! :)

Froggy, I totally understand how you feel; you are like me too. I freak out about scary bad things, and then finally, I take a breath and try to regroup. I hope you know that we are all praying for you both, and Froggy, you of all people know the power of prayer!

Gloria and Phooey and Eva have all given you great advice, and I'm so glad that Gloria told you that senior homes aren't just for seniors. They are also for disabled adults. Froggy, I'm sure you would qualify to live there too with 'Wog due to your health issues. You also need to keep on trying for your disability social security.

'Wog, you are right, there is so much information out there for seniors, and I'm so glad there's a group of lawyers close by who can help. There are advantages to living in the city!

If there is anything I can do to help you investigate this, please let me know!

    Love and prayers,

    Paget

  16. Hi Paget.. I keep trying to take a nap, but I have to check the Pond first. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. Our ship isn't sinking; we just took down the sail for a few days.

This is a perfect time for Froggy to go see disability lawyer while I have the days to go with her. Tomorrow (Friday) I am going to stop in at the senior apartment near here. Sometimes getting from point A to B seems impossible.. but it's only impossible in your head!

I'll try to stay off for a while. I feel that nap coming on again.

  17. I left and came back to read all this.
    Paget, You are so helpful.
Having a lawyer that knows the law and can give advice is an excellent way to go.
There are many senior appt complexes to choose from. There are many programs that the average person may not be aware of.

  18. Thank you all for standing by us--this is most difficult. I am also being thrown off my medical care and have to call a lady about what to do with my Medicaid today; my prescriptions are due and I have no idea how to get them filled.

Thank you for all of the information--you folks are so kind and knowledgeable; you've really helped!

  19. Freddy, I don't know about being knowledgeable. Sometimes just putting our ideas out there helps.
To me one of the worse things in life is injustice.
This health care thing is going to affect a lot of people.
    Everyone have a good day.
I am out the door to get a haircut. What was I thinking - making an appt for 8am?
