Good Morning, Pond People!

  1. Good morning pond friends!

I just heard on the news that our state, Washington, is now the 7th one to approve gay marriage. I'm not a homophobe; I have great respect for all I know who are gay. However, our domestic partner law that passed in 2007 has given them every right "except for marriage". We, the people, voted down gay marriage a few years ago, and the state legislature just now threw us under the bus. I hear that there will be a referendum battle when this is passed into law, but why does it have to come to this? Why won't they listen to the people?

I know this hasn't been brought up before on the pond, so I hope my rant hasn't upset anyone.

I'm off to work now and I'll settle down. ;)

Have a nice day everyone! :)

  2. I'm with you, Paget. We're friends with a lesbian couple who have been together longer than Joe & I have. They are Republicans and one was in the military during Vietnam. I cannot imagine a stronger bond than they already have, but I know their feelings get hurt often by the political fights "on their behalf". They aren't activists, though. They just live their lives. I think that when the Courts get involved, the problems start. Such change HAS to come from the people.

Good morning, all. Hope you've stopped throwing up, Froggy!

  3. We're friends, Paget; you don't offend anyone here! I lived with a gay male couple when I moved out of the house after high school and before 'Wog finished college and we moved in together. Actually, I've seen many of my family members off to their final reward; the hospitals never have asked me who I was, so it didn't really make any difference if I was straight, gay, or halfway inbetween. I think the left have gotten together and made this an issue to bolster their side the way they always do. I wonder if gay folks would warm it all up otherwise...

  4. This is difficult for me. The truth is, I only know of one sin I have NOT committed!(Murder) Yet, to be honest, my Christian faith says homosexuality is sinful.
    Matthew 7
    Judging Others
1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

I live in a glass house, ain't going to throw stones!
