Good Morning, Good Friends!

Happy Thursday!

  1. Happy Thursday, all! Had to take a break yesterday because after going to the eye doc, my eyes were all blurry. They are blurry now, but that's because I just woke up.

Drizzling this morning and kinda cool. Bring back the 80 degree weather!!

  2. Good Morning Eva, how are your eyes doing? It's probably time for me to get mine checked. I would like the laser surgery so I wouldn't need glasse, but I am afraid of it.

Raining in Seattle too, but tomorrow we get sunshine. Yay! There are errands to run, but I can't do them in the rain.

I haven't even checked the news today. The Pond comes first.

  3. NEWS FROM THE NEWS:
Obama Admin Wants to Deport Christian Homeschoolers

"The Romeike family fled their German homeland in 2008 seeking political asylum in the United States – where they hoped to home school their children. Instead, the Obama administration wants the evangelical Christian family deported.

The fate of Uwe and Hannelore Romeikie – along with their six children – now rests with the Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals – after the Dept. of Homeland Security said they don’t deserve asylum.

Neither the Justice Dept. nor the Dept. of Homeland Security returned calls seeking comment.

“The Obama administration is basically saying there is no right to home school anywhere,” said Michael Farris, founder of the Home School Legal Defense Association. “It’s an utter repudiation of parental liberty and religious liberty.”

The Justice Dept. is arguing that German law banning home schooling does not violate the family’s human rights.

“They are trying to send a family back to Germany where they would certainly lose custody of their children,” Farris told Fox News. “Our government is siding with Germany.”

And yet Obama's illegal uncle has been living here for years, and even has his own liquer store. :(

    2. Oops, I guess spellcheck on Explorer 9 isn't perfect! That should have been: liquor.

    3. I homeschooled my boy and could write an epistle about how bad government schools are and how hard I had to fight for my rights. The Home School Legal Defense Association helped me a LOT. Hope they can help this family. They are probably the exact kind of immigrants this country could benefit from (contrast to Obama's illegal uncle as Paget mentioned). But they homeschool and they are Christian. It's all about control. A pox on the evil worming its way into the United States.

I fought the hardest when I took him out of public school and tried to enroll him in a community college. HSLDA provided me a lawyer to win those battles. Funny thing is: he only applied to UCLA and UC Berkeley as a homeschooler and was accepted by both.

Those very liberal universities oppose homeschooling and clearly look down their noses at Christianity. He was accepted for a lot of scholarly reasons, but I suspect the main reason he was accepted is because they "celebrate diversity." Ironic and idiotic.

My son graduated from Berkeley last May and this issue still gets me fired up. Sorry for yammering!

  4. PONDER THIS:
JOHN KERRY. NEED I SAY MORE?

"You can tell a lot about someone by looking at those he admires. Over at The Weekly Standard, Samuel Tadros has a melancholy piece about some of the people the Obama administration admires. Tomorrow, March 8, our new secretary of State, John Kerry, aided by First Lady Michelle Obama, will be honoring ten women with the “International Women of Courage Award,” an honor given to “women around the globe who have shown exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for women’s rights and empowerment, often at great personal risk.”

Gosh. “Women’s rights and empowerment.” We’re for that, right? (Right?) But look a little closer.

“Five of these awards,” Mr. Tadros reports, are being given to women from Muslim-majority countries, underscoring the unique plight of women in those countries. The only problem is that one of the women to be recognized is an anti-Semite and supports the 9/11 attacks on the United States."

  5. 'Woggy won't do errands because I make her rest..! I'm resting, too--I don't feel so great. I've done half a walk so far... Phooey, how often should I increase my distance--and should I walk if I don't feel well? I want to walk...

Da Wolf is begging off 'Woggy--it's almost dinnertime and he loves dinners!

    1. Gosh Froggy, I'm the last person you should ask about health issues. I lived for a year on only beer and Ensure! In just the last two months I've been eating (more or less) a normal diet. Not that long ago, I had to walk with a cane and was unable to help Page with taking the dogs for their outings or taking out the trash. So I guess my answer is.... walk as much as possible when you are well. Everything is relative to your personal condition.
The weather is suppose to go back to normal(warm) in the next couple of days. Yea! Love ya!

  7. Thank you, Paget and Phooster--I've had my 3rd walk of the day and it's just 2 p.m.--I guess it made me feel better, so I'll take your advice, Phoo ;-)

  8. It's been splendid to hear from Ponders today. Hope you enjoyed today's picture. Froggy picked that one. Are all cats cute?

Froggy is resting, and I'm doing laundry. We are fortunate to have the laundry room close to our apartment. Don't know how laundry piles up so fast.

  9. I love the walking! Heartily agree with what Phooey said. For me, there's a funny thing about walking/exercising. I don't want to do it! I can dream up every excuse in the book for not doing it. But I do it and am always so glad I did! I only exercise for about 10 minutes a day. Sometimes I'm motivated to do more, but I always always ALWAYS feel better afterward. Rock on!

    1. Surfie, We have a wonderful building for walking inside. There is a really long hall with windows overlooking the patio. Building has only four floors. So we walk to the other end and take elevator to a different floor for the walk back. Very nice when it's cold and raining outside.

When it warms up we can walk around the block, or walk the hallways and settle in on the outside patio.
