  1. Good morning, Froggies! Not much happening today; I still feel like a head cold is pouncing on me...

'Woggy is still asleep with Da Wolf not far away--he loves her to death! How is everyone? What's up with this weekend?

  2. Good morning deer Ponders!

Never got back on yesterday, but read the posts this morning. Surfie, another good one. I remember that song and I'm going to keep it in my head and hopefully continue to shine my light.

Israel is so fascinating. I'll probably never get there since I'm such a wuss. A car will backfire and I'll hit the floor! I'm so glad my parents got to go years ago. They had a wonderful time. Walked Jesus' last walk and my mother said it gave her chills. I think they were there as part of an Art Education Assoc. tour. I can't remember. Have I ever mentioned that my Dad is a big shot (or was) in the Art world?

Everyone in my extended family has travelled extensively. Me? Never outside the U.S.A. I always say that I must be missing the wanderlust gene. Right now, Joe's nephew is backpacking around the world. This is his 3rd world tour. The family isn't happy about it because he's 45! They want him to settle down and he shows no sign of ever wanting to. Maybe he got my missing wanderlust gene?

  4. My post just disappeared. Hope it doesn't show up twice!

Froggy, I pray you are not getting a cold. We need your beautiful self here with us. Could it be allergies? Its allergy season, with everything in bloom. Some days, my sinuses are so clogged and I have a headache and slight fever, and my teeth hurt! Extra prayers coming your way, deer Froggy.

Eva, you have never told us about your Father. Please tell us about him! To Joe's nephew, all I can say is "Rock On!" I've lived most of my life "outside the box." It's been an interesting life. More to come, God willing and the river don't rise.

Gloria, I spent the day at work (high drama today). Now I'm home loving the Pond and making a very exciting split pea soup and baking cornbread. What has everyone been doing today?

    1. My father's name is Edmund Burke Feldman. You can google him. He's written a bunch of books that have been used as textbooks. He developed a new, original way to critique a work of art. College art majors have written essays on him. When my niece was giving birth a couple of years ago, the volunteer at the desk on the maternity floor almost keeled over when she saw him. She had been an art major at some Texas school. Here he was pacing the floor waiting for his great-grandson to arrive and this lady was asking for his autograph. When I came out of the delivery room once, I didn't see him so I asked her where he was (he was in the restroom). She asked me, "Doesn't your father have any idea how famous he is?" I just said, "Uh. He is?" I finally got around to telling him about it and he just laughed.

Of course I'm really proud of him, but famous? Well, not outside the art world. Besides, he says people think he's dead and use his stuff without giving him the attribution. He pretty much ignores all that. He still gets some royalties from his books. All I can say is that I'm soooo glad he left the academic world long ago. With his conservative views, he'd be attacked like crazy.

  5. Surfie, Eva, Gloria...
Froggy has been "attacked" by allergies. Makes her miserable, and her eyes itch. This morning I ran some errands on the bus. When I came back, we watched some TV, talked, ate dinner...and now I am sleepy. Just too early to go to bed.

    Surfie,
Froggy and I will be by for dinner. Homemade split pea soup and cornbread! Yummmm!

  6. Yes, Surfie, you're right--my sinuses ache and I feel a small fever. It's allergies and trying to ward off everything I catch in the doctor's office every time I go. Thank you for the prayers--the Pond loves you right back!

Eva, has your dad ever heard of Batya Dagan in the art world?

  7. AMAZING TEEN SPEAKS 23 LANGUAGES:

"Now teenager Timothy Doner is a proven polyglot, having learned 23 different languages.

Doner is only 17-years-old but he has a grasp on languages that are only spoken in lands far from the East Village apartment that he shares with his parents.

In addition to the expected European languages- French, Spanish, Italian, German- he has linguistically into some much more remote territories, mastering a number of African dialects.

isiXhosa, an official language of South Africa, is one of the more unexpected tongues in his vast vocabulary, as is Wolof (spoken in Gambia), Swahili, and the Native American language of Ojibwe.

Doner began receiving attention from language enthusiasts across the globe when he started posting videos of himself speaking in the different dialects on YouTube.

Urged on by enthusiastic commenters, he continued his work, largely teaching himself new languages in either a few weeks or months with the help of instructional books and flashcard apps on his iPhone.
    (snip)

He was the subject of a profile in The New York Times in 2012, where experts included the then-16-year-old in a small and scattered group of language fiends who are deemed 'hyperpolyglots' because of their ability to pick up and master languages so quickly.

THE FULL LIST OF 23 LANGUAGES
    English French
    Hausa Wolof
    Russian German
    Yiddish Hebrew
    Arabic Pashto
    Farsi Mandarin
    Italian Turkish
    Indonesian Dutch
    isiXhosa Swahili
    Hindi Ojibwe
    Persian Croatian
    Spanish
