Monday. Here comes the week.

  1. I love this picture!

My post yesterday seems to have disappeared, but since I can't remember what it was about, it doesn't matter.

I took Joe to LAX early this morning. He'll be in NY/NJ for 2 weeks. Mainly he'll be staying with his folks so his sister & BIL can take a few days off to go on vacation, but he'll go down to New Jersey to take care of some things before we move there.

I intend to spend these 2 weeks getting most of the "small" packing completed. I'm going to tamp down the moving company (as far as dates go) and contact a handful of realtors. When Joe gets back, we'll decide who to give our listing to.

Here's my dilemma: remember my friend, Steve, who moved to North Carolina last year after everything fell apart for him here? I think I told you that he's a realtor whose troubles started when the market dried up (believe me, you don't want to get him started on Dodd-Frank!).

Anyway, Steve was just so unhappy in NC that he's on his way back to Los Angeles. He wants to list our condo and says he'll do it for no commission since he owes us money. That part is attractive and we'd really like to help him, but I don't know if we should go with him. I absolutely trust him, but I think others will do a better job for us at this point. Just because we list with someone else doesn't mean that Steve can't be the one who brings the buyer in.

Friendship and business don't always mix, although Steve sold our previous place for a great price and brought this place to us. I just don't know. Maybe once I call the other realtors one of them will say they already have a buyer who would be interested. That would solve everything!

    1. Eva,
I agree about keeping friendship and business separate. It could work out great for both of you, or... you could lose the friendship forever. Can you find him something else in real estate or suggest a new plan for him, so that he doesn't feel abandoned?

    2. I'm going to try, 'Wog. I'm really glad he'll be back here before we move. I've missed him alot. I hope the fact that the real estate market has picked up means he'll have no problem picking up clients. I think he's going to be calling some of the clients he used to have and see if they're interested in buying or selling now. I'm pretty sure he'll understand if we list with someone else.

    3. Eva,
I guess I should stay out of it. If Steve did a great job before, maybe it would be good again. I just don't have an answer. You'll know what to do when it's time.

  2. Eva, I'm sure you and Joe will make the right decision. My experience is that, after thinking and praying and talking to experts, the right decision presents itself. Will keep you, Joe and Steve in my prayers.

Spent a nice weekend with family after Thursday's funeral. My brother's son and his family were here from San Diego. Their daughter Charlotte (just turned 7) and son Isaac (3-1/2) are adorable. Charlotte made place cards for dinner on Sunday. My name was written in pink Crayola and I got a special red Tootsie Pop on my plate. Love children.

It started raining Sunday morning. After weeks of 100 degrees and high winds, it was such a relief. Supposed to rain off and on through Wednesday, then back to hot hot summer. Enjoying it!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.
