  1. Good Morning, Pond Family,
The sun is up early in Seattle. It will be a beautiful day. How's everyone doing today?

  2. Video of Wills and Kate and new baby!
Found this on Daily Mail Online
Go down the page a little and there is a video. Really sweet!

  3. Loved watching the video. Wills and Kate appear to be truly in love and as grounded as you can be when royalty. Very nice happy break! Can hardly wait to hear what they name him.

Glad the sun was up early for you two. Your snapdragons must be happy. As I drove home at 5:30, it was 96 with a heat index of 110. We're supposed to cool down this weekend to about 85 and a teeny chance of rain. Hope springs eternal!

WOG, how is the job hunting going?

    1. Surfie,
Glad you liked the video of the new baby. Very exciting for the Royal Family.

Yes, the snapdragons are very happy. And they are making the bees happy.

Job hunting! Still looking. This week will sign up at a couple temp places.

  4. I adore today's picture! There's something about that little bird that's so cheerful.

I saw the pictures of Kate, William, and the baby. A beautiful portrait of a young family. Just so normal.

Thanks for the moving tips 'Wog. I've got a list started to send change of addresses to, a list of the utilities I have to call and the date when to stop service, a list of things to schedule in August (like final vet visits, final doc/dentist appt's, final lunches with friends, etc.). Then I start to hyperventilate and have to go lie down for awhile :)

Prayers for signs that we're doing the right thing have started to yield fruit. Joe was offered a job in New Jersey today. It's along the lines of what he does (teaching the blind & visually impaired) but the New Jersey system for special ed students is centralized in the state govt. instead of individual school districts. He would get a region to be responsible for (a total of 4 counties usually). He'd know which schools had "his" kids and he'd work out a sort of pattern of when he'd go to what school to work with what kid. If the student needed assignments done in braille, he'd take care of that. If the teacher needed braille assignments translated, he'd do that. He'd help kids having specific problems. It sounds kind of haphazard to me, but it's the way they do things in NJ, so I guess it works out.

Here's the interesting thing: it's a part-time job and that would work well with our lifestyle now. These wages plus his pension from here, coupled with our normal thriftiness should enable us to be okay. Also, we don't have to change our move schedule (that thought almost gave me a heart attack). Joe can start on Sept. 16th.

Prayers work, because these people called him while he was flying east. He had sent his resume to them a couple of years ago when we were thinking of moving and he kept up with occasional emails and cards. He never got any responses, but they remembered when something opened up. How about that?

Nothing is written in stone until he signs on the dotted line, of course. There will be background checks and fingerprinting, etc. It's all just verbal now, but I feel a little lighter. Now all I have to do is lighten the weight of the stuff we're moving. I didn't want to rain on Joe's good news with the move estimate I got yesterday, so I haven't told him yet.

    1. Eva,
Your Pond Family is always here for you. And about the move, California will always be there if you need to move back. (It would make Steve happy.)

You'll be fine. Joe will be fine. Kittys will be fine.

    2. Thanks, 'Wog. I just finished going through the pantry. I had all sorts of things with expired dates, Some of them hadn't even been opened. There was a box of stuffing mix that had a 'sell by' date of 2009! Lots of little bottles of spices that I threw out. I scrubbed the cabinets and on top of the refrigerator (yikes!). I cleaned the stove and dishwasher. I'll have to clean everything again right before we leave, but I think I just wanted to do something other than pack boxes.

    3. Oh yeah, one more thing. It's funny that you mentioned making Steve happy. He called this morning and told me now that he's back in L.A., he thinks we shouldn't move to New Jersey. I just groaned. Hopefully, I'll be able to see him this week.
