Good Morning, Ponders!

  1. Hi Pond People,
It is a beautiful day at The Pond.. even if I saw a little snow this morning in Seattle. It's always warm at The Pond when you are among friends.

  2. I see Her 'Wogness is up. It's kinda cold and sleety here. She's trying to get into a worker retraining program. It cost $1100 a quarter--and she needs 3 quarters--so she's going to apply for an opportunity grant.
I've been making the rounds of doctor's offices today on the phone--finding out who is where, who does what, who doesn't need a referral--you know the drill.

We're nice and warm in here--and 'Woggy's bring me some popcorn; how's your day shaping up?

  3. I really like popcorn. Less Schwab makes good popcorn. If I have to be tortured sitting in a smelly tire store it is only right that they have free popcorn.

Just came in from doing errands. It's snowing but not sticking yet. I got the movie Miss Potter at library. Going to watch it and maybe make some enchiladas later and work on my knitting.

I'll check in later. Have a good day.

  4. Gloria.. We had a sprinkle of snow in Seattle. Sure was cold all day. Wet and cold.

You caught my eye with the word "enchilada." I love enchiladas. Can you give me some hints on how to make 'em? I just heat some corn tortillas in hot oil, throw them on a plate, sprinkle with cheese and onions. Pour Old El Paso sauce over the mix, and melt in the microwave. (Froggy doesn't eat a lot of what I cook.)

  5. Recovering from my dentist appt yesterday. Ugh! My mouth was open for 2 hours and I wasn't talking!! Tooth was saved however, so that's good. I get to back again for final work in 3 weeks :(

Froggy, do NOT feel badly about taking any gov't assistance. I just went through this with a friend who applied for food stamps. He was so horrified at the thought that he needed to do this that he put it off over and over. His situation is worse now than it was and he has lost 35 lbs. He kept repeating, "I don't understand. I've done everything right. I've done everything I've supposed to do. How could this happen?" It's frightening. He had a career, a home he could afford, savings in the bank. Almost all gone now.

This is what a safety net is supposed to be for. You have paid into the system. You are a citizen of this country. You are not in your situation by choice.
