  1. Good morning, everyone. What kinds of things are going on this week? My only plan for today is trying to stay warm - 25 degrees this morning. I,ll come back and check in later.

  2. Good Morning All..I just dragged myself out of bed.

Gloria, you're right. It's a little cold today. We turn the heat down at night, and I'm bundled up until the room warms up. The sun is out today, so this will be a good day in Seattle.

I have to go downtown this morning. My bus pass wouldn't renew. Gotta have my bus pass.

Eva, hope that you didn't go to Hollywood yesterday. I wouldn't even want to be one of the special limo drivers.

  4. I guess it's going to rain here today. Or at least that's what the forecast is. It's a great day to stay inside, but I had to get up early and drop my car off to get my rear brakes serviced. I've known I needed to do it for awhile, but kept putting it off. My husband threatened me yesterday with horror stories of how much it'll cost if I don't take care of it now. So, I just bit the bullet and took it in. Now I'm waiting. As Wog needs her bus pass, I need my car.

I was talking to a friend in Hollywood last night before the Oscars started. He said he didn't have to turn on the TV 'cause he could hear all the hoopla out his windows. I don't miss those days. Much better to be out in the 'burbs when big events are going on.

Everyone have a good day. I'm going to see if Puffin will let me back in bed with him.

  5. I want a Puffin..... I didn't get but an hour or two of sleep, so I feel appropriately ratty. I don't even know what I have to do today... I can post pics here now; I need to see if I can get an article up with their new format. I'll be around--you all have a great day. (Eva, if you use FedEx, you could mail Puffin to us really fast!)

Good morning, Phoo! Kerry, how are you? Hi Gloria! Where's our Paget? Surfie, how's that dog?

    Hiking tomorrow I hope!

  7. I'm sorry you don't feel well, Kerry. Try a little magnesium and calcium and see if that helps... We're not doing much today--I had to go back to bed and I don't know where the 'Wog has been, but she's home now.

Gloria, how are you doing, how's Peanut? Paget sent me the cutest pic of her cat Chance--I need to put up that pic and some of our dear Boomer...

I wouldn't say this is one of my better days... I hope I'll feel better tomorrow.

  8. Peanut is doing well. She spends a lot of time everyday training her peeps.
Is Chance a shelter cat? As in Second Chance?

While I was at the knit shop today they were passing around a book titled Bad Cat. I am going to check my library - I can use a good laugh. Full of pics and captions of crazy cats.

I ran out of calcium - magnesium so I stopped by the naturopath to get some for muscle cramps. She has me use calcium-magnesium citramate. That is the form your muscles like (I learned something.) The lable reads (as calcium citrate-malate) and (as magnesium-citrate-malate.) It onlt took 1 day to notice a difference. Just thought I would through that out there. Hope it helps someone.

Froggy, I certainly hpoe you feel better tomorrow.

  9. Froggy, feel better. Today is just one of those blah Mondays for sure. I wish we lived closer to each other and then I could deliver Puffin personally.

Definitely looking forward to seeing a pic of Chance and more of Peanut.

  10. We use Citracal Petites (calcium citrate + D) because they have a smaller pill. It doesn't have the magnesium.

Hope everyone gets to feeling better soon.

  11. I take a calcium- magnesium supplement It wasn't muscle cramps.I walk the dogs at 11:30 PM then again at 12:30 AM( that's zero dark thirty) and we live in the country. The front and side yards are fairly well lit( when I remember to turn the lights on) but the big back yard is kinda dark. The other night Minion decided to take me thru the area I had been working in the fall so there are some small holes and in the dark I stumbled a time or two and wrenched my back a bit. Not his fault there was a possum he found.I spent yesterday in pain till BG came home and said hey Mom I have a heating pad you should use that! Talk about sweet relief :)

  12. Here's my wrenched-back story. I slipped a disk about 15 years ago. (I actually hurt my back ..lumbar 5 or 6 ...a fews year before the disk went.) I would always have to lay down, flat, for a couple days, and then I was okay. I finally had the back surgery, and everything was fine. Now the lower back spasms sometimes when I bend over to pick up something.

I use the heating pad for relief! It works. We have a heating pad that is long and round like a snake. You can put it in the microwave to heat it. Because it looks like a "snake", Froggy painted a face on one end!

  13. 'Wog, I love how heating pads now come in different shapes! That was someone's great idea. Mine is long and sectioned and has seashells on it, It also goes in the microwave. I heat it up, put it where it hurts and pretend I'm at the beach. If I have to move (to answer the phone or something) I usually come back to find Puffin on it!

  14. Hiker, hope the back spasms let up soon. Thee last time I torqued my back all I did was carry laundry down stairs.

Another thing we do is use epsom salt in the bath. Doc says it takes 13 minutes for the magnesium to soak in.

When I was young, healthy and srong I thought back problems were a kind of vague ailment. I wasn't exactly sympatheic. Then it happened to me and now I have understanding. When your back spasms life comes to a screeching halt.

Gosh, I hope the economy begins to turn soon. I want real improvement not fake job numbers and fake polls. The high gas prices are hurting everyone. Just read that Social Security payments are going to be reduced by 2%. Don't know if that is true.

  15. I feel so terrible with friends having back problems. My late husband herniated 3 lower discs while doing things like a teenager when he was in his mid-50's. He refused back surgery and lived in pain until his death. Take care, my dear friends. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Weather-wise, a big storm is set to hit OKC around drive-home rush hour today. They are predicting damaging winds, rain, hail, and a chance of tornadoes. I am set to meet friends for dinner at 6 PM and am seriously considering backing out. I'm not used to driving under these conditions. I'd rather be home, with my car protected from the hail, and myself protected from a tornado.

We'll see what weather really happens.

    Love to you all!
