  2. Hi, Phoo--are you here by yourself?
Did everyone else do the Weekend Bail? ;-)

'Woggy made me some butterscotch pudding--it's sweet and it doesn't cost much. We always have a packet of something laying around here. Usually, we go through our food before Thanksgiving for the food bank...

What are you doing for the holiday?

  3. Hi Phooey and Froggy...I guess we are the lone ribbeteers today. I will leave school at 1:00 today, and go downtown for dinner items. Tell Wolfie not to "food-attack" me when I walk in the door!

    1. Speaking of cats and food.....what kind of food do you Ponders feed your kitties? Dry? Canned?

Peanut will only eat one kind. I have tried but she will not touch anything but Hills Science diet dry food with 4 Greenies in her bowl. Thankfully she is not interested in human food or canned cat food. The cat eats better than us.

  4. NEWS FROM THE NEWS:
    Goodbye Twinkies...The union won!

Failing to persuade striking employees to return to work, Hostess Brands disclosed plans on Friday to liquidate its assets and lay off most of its 18,500 workers, bringing the 82-year-old maker of Wonder Bread and Twinkies to the end of its line.

The painful decision to wind down the Irving, Texas.-based private company follows a nationwide strike that Hostess said severely constrained its operations.

Hostess said delivery of its products, which include Ding Dongs and CupCakes, will continue and its retail stores will keep their lights on for several days to sell already-baked products.

“We deeply regret the necessity of today’s decision, but we do not have the financial resources to weather an extended nationwide strike,” Hostess CEO Gregory Rayburn said in a statement.

...The company will now be forced to close its 33 bakeries, 565 distribution centers, 5,500 delivery routes and 570 bakery outlet stores throughout the U.S."

    1. Isn't that amazing? Also, goodbye Wonder Bread. Never thought I'd see that in my lifetime. Yeah, the unions won and the employees lost. Same old story.

  5. Hi Ponders, How is everyone today?

That thing with the union and Hostess is sad. Everyone lost. There was a time when being in a union helped the worker get safe work conditions and good wages. We have come into a time when the union is a burden to the companies. Scott and I have both been union workers. You either join the union or you can't work. I saw a lot going on that I didn't like.

    1. Dad was a Teamster for awhile; a lot of stuff walked out of the warehouse--and I don't mean by the front door. 'I think 'Woggy had to join, too, once.

    2. I used to see one guy take fresh product off the line before he went home and put it in his lunch pail. Who would report him?

  6. Hi deer Ponders! I wrote a post about Petraeus' testimony, Hostess and unions, and it disappeared. Think I need to take a break because in my heart I'm just happy at work, and want to throw myself into Thanksgiving and Christmas and getting to spend a week with my son in December.

TGIF! Love you! Will be back tomorrow!

    1. Good for you, Surfie! Maybe your post disappeared for a reason. It's good that you're happy and have the blessings of family and work. When things are so rotten in the country, it's nice to be able to shut it out and bask in the good stuff. I also thinks it's necessary. The political BS that's going on right now is enough to drive one crazy! It's my personal opinion that no matter what outrageous things this President does or says, he'll never be called on it. Until that happens, we're helpless.
