Happy Thursday, Ponders!

  1. Good Morning, Ponders. Today, I think 'Woggy and I are sharing a head cold--she sounds terrible! We have $35 to eat on this week--I need some cheap meal ideas, gals...

Gloria, did you get some rest? Phooey, you never tell us how you're feeling--and we're concerned about you! Paget, do you have jet lag? Where's our Eva?

  3. Yes indeed Phoo, how are you?

Ug, I hate head colds. My sympathies. Here's a few suggestions. Hot steamy soup with extra raw garlic. Gargle with salt water, salt keeps your throat moist and draws out infection. Honey, lemon and a pinch of cayenne pepper for sore throat and coughs. Elevate your head with extra pillows. Read up on what kind of tea is best. You can make your own.

As for ways to stretch your food money: Creamed chipped beef on whatever. One pkg of chipped beef in 2 cups white sauce(2Tbsp flour, 2Tbsp fat like butter or oil and 2 cups milk). Stuffed baked potatoes. Ground turkey burgers. Canned chili over rice. Meatloaf (I love meatloaf but Scott hates it.)
    Does that help?

  4. Good morning, all!

Surfie, you can't offend any of us. You know that. Everything you said yesterday (or was it the day before) came straight from the heart. Rant away.

Everyone is going to get socked in January and the President can hardly wait.

Froggy, my favorite cheap meals are always pasts and tomato sauce. I'm sure the others can come up with stuff much more interesting and healthy, but when I feel the pinch, into boiling water go the macaroni and out comes the can opener. I can still find pasta for $1 per pound and an 8 oz. can of tomato sauce for 39-49 cents. Store brand, of course, but name brands aren't much more.

Gloria, I forgot about Laural Birch cats. I love her stuff as well as Kliban. She uses a lot of purple in her designs. Somewhere I have a scarf of hers.

Paget, are you used to being back on the mainland yet?

  5. Hi folks. Just a little something to take note of. I read Ulsterman. After the election info from WHI and WSI have really slowed down. We now have RI. Republican Insider. He is saying that the Moretti Report is a good blog and that "these ladies get it." I will be reading that site to see what they have to say.

  8. Our office came to a brief slow-down today. Our Production Manager brought up Fox News on his computer and we watched reports of the attacks against Israel. It amazes me that a bunch of Neanderthals in Oklahoma who cling to their guns and Bibles can watch, nearly live, these attacks and Israel's responses.

We are all supporters of Israel. No formal prayers were said but after our brief pause, we all came away praying for Israel.

These are the times that try mens' souls. We will get up every new day and do our best. We will go to sleep every night praying for God's will and God's wisdom.

  9. Thanks to everyone...Gloria, Eva, Surfie, and Froggy...for dropping by the Pond today. Ya'll are what makes The Pond special.

Surfie, I am touched by your closing comments: "We will get up every new day and do our best. We will go to sleep every night praying for God's will and God's wisdom."

How do we let Israelis know that we Americans love them and support them?
