Happy Friday, Ponders!

  1. A belated Happy New Year, Ponders!!

We're finally back in L.A. The time with my family was bittersweet. My father was sick with a bad cold and had lost weight he couldn't afford to. I spent the week stuffing him and put 4lbs back on him. He's much stronger and feeling like himself again.

My niece's divorce is not an easy one and it's taking a toll on everyone. I tried to spend as much time as possible with her and my grand nephew. He's such a darling little 2 year-old, but he sure is having that "terrible twos" syndrome. He likes to give orders. We all follow them... over and over again. Joe hadn't seen him in a year, so they re-bonded, and now he's the first one the kid asks for. I'm feeling pushed aside :(

We watched the Georgia-Nebraska game with much glee and that was a bright spot. We visited my Mom's grave on the 13th anniversary of her death, but didn't get to temple for the service that mentioned her. Our lives were pretty much run by a 2-year-old the entire time.

Puffin & Bambu survived our absense, but they are showing their displeasure in a very loud way. I thought Puffin would be overjoyed to snuggle with me again, but he preferred to keep me awake all night yowling. It was ear-splitting. Bambu was a pale echo, but he didn't shut up either. I hope this doesn't last long.

Congrats to Froggy & Wog on their impending move, Gloria & Scott on their 43 years, Surfie and Mike being together, and everyone else on surviving into 2013.

I wish I thought this year was going to be a good one, but I'm all out of hope. Maybe it's just the jetlag. It always takes me a few days to get turned around.

It was tough being out of touch for a week, but I'll be here and checking in every day now.

    Love you all!!!

    1. Eva, we are so glad to hear from you! I worried that you and Joe got stuck in the snow someplace, but I knew that you'd be watching the Georgia-Nebraska game somewhere.

I haven't been around many little kids, but the "terrible two's" sounds just miserable. I do, however, understand yowling cats. Our Wolfie howls at the front door when I leave the apartment. They really do miss their people. Hopefully your babies have settled down by now.

Don't be discouraged by politics. It has good days and bad days, just like the stock market.

  2. Morning Ponders. Eva, glad you are back home. You were missed. We are all excited for Froggy and Wog to get to move to a new place.

    Remembering Sir Phooey in prayers.

Steve brought a cold-flu home Christmas Eve then passed it on to me when he was done. Haven't had anything for about 7 years. I am doing just my homeopathic remedies and am just about over it.

    1. Gloria, Glad to hear that you are feeling better. The news said that the flu is really bad this year. I get a flu shot, but Froggy is allergic to them. I try to wash my hands as soon as I get home from riding bus. Can't imagine the germs that I pick there.

  3. Eva, so nice that you're back--we won't push you aside ;-) Yes, we loved the football game and thought about you often while we were watching it. Sorry about the noisy boys, heh--ours is, too!

Gloria get well and happy anniversary! Yes, prayers for our Phoo.

Where is Paget? And I want to hear more about Mike from Surfie.

All we can do is try and pack--it's harder than I remember. They've changed my prescription again, so I can't sleep--and 'Woggy's not sleeping well and she can't work when she's so tired. She's going to measure the rooms today at 1:30 p.m. Love to you all!

  4. Welome home, Eva! Hope Puffin & Bambu are settling down so you can get some sleep!

Glad to hear you're feeling better, Gloria.

Froggy and Wog, packing is a real job. I'm pretty good at it, but it still always takes longer than I think it will. Just keep your eyes on the prize for settling into your new place!

    Phooey? How are you?

Just dropped my boy off at the airport. We've had a lot of fun, but had to take him to the emergency room last night and get him into a dentist on an emergency basis today (wisdom tooth major event). I'm exhausted and a little sad. Will tell you tomorrow. Right now, I'm going to have a glass of wine and a bubble bath and pass out in front of the TV.

    1. Surfie, so glad you had such a nice visit with your son and puppy. Seems like the week went by awfully fast. Did you make those plans to visit him in the Spring? He was lucky to find a dentist so quickly. A hurt tooth can't wait.

That glass of wine and bubble bath will cure almost anything. Enjoy!

  5. You know what, Surfie? I used to save all my illnesses or medical/dental emergencies for when I was home visiting my parents. It was a family joke after awhile. I'd go home for Christmas or for 2 weeks in the summer and something would always befall me!

Froggy/Wog, I think moving is always hell... even when you want to do it and are excited about it. Too bad we just can't wave our magic wands and Presto! the move is done and you're in your new home. Wait until Wolfie has to adjust to a new home!

My furballs are calming down a bit, but I still think whenever they look at us, they glare. I hope we can get some sleep tonight.

Is Phooey okay? He, as well as all Ponders, are always in my prayers, but I'll add extra if he needs extra.
