  1. So far Wednesday is okay. Was quite a Birthday party at The Pond yesterday. A lot of Ribbettts. A lot of lily-pad hopping. Froggy and I couldn't keep up. But I'm ahead of ya'll for next year. Wrote everyone's name on my calendar...and Peanut too!

Surfie, how's Karen doing? If she needs anything, prayers, encouragement, let us know.

  2. RUSH LIMBAUGH - QUOTES FROM HIS WEBSITE:

"At some point somebody on the Republican side's gonna have to stand up and start defining for people who Obama is rather than acquiescing to all this stuff, 'cause where we're headed in not too many years is a citizen standing up when some member of Congress passes away and saying, "Who's gonna take care of us now?" That is embarrassing! It's scary."

"We have a president of the country who's comfortable with suffering. It benefits him politically. We have a president who's comfortable with the pain his policies -- sequester is his idea -- are inflicting."

  3. SAN FRANCISCO: ANTI-ISLAMIC BUS ADS:
'WOG says, To quote some of our grandmothers, "If you can't take the heat, stay out of our kitchens!"

(Reuters) - San Francisco city buses began carrying political ads on Monday denounced by several municipal leaders as anti-Islamic, racist messages that unfairly depict Arabs and Muslims as groups defined by extremism and violence.

But rather than seek to bar San Francisco's transit agency from accepting the paid ads and risk a court fight over free speech rights, city officials said they would instead mount a public service campaign preaching tolerance and peace.

The bus ads were paid for by the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), the same group behind a similar campaign in San Francisco and New York last year that referred to the Arab-Israeli conflict as a war "between the civilized man and the savage."

"Support the civilized man," those adds implored. "Support Israel. Defeat Jihad."

The founder of AFDI, Pamela Geller, is a New York-based blogger and commentator whom the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks U.S. hate groups, describes as "the anti-Muslim movement's most visible and flamboyant figurehead."

    1. Pam Geller is a brave lady. I really admire her. Mark Kelly - not so much.

  4. TOO MUCH NEWS, AND SO LITTLE ROOM ON THE INTERNET:
'WOG, (laughing out loud), Can we say 'hypocrite'? The following is the caption under a picture showing Mark Kelly buying a gun.

"Mark Kelly, pictured, the husband of former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, left, went to a Tucson gun store a week ago to buy a .45-caliber handgun and a military-style assault rifle the day before he appeared with his wife at the supermarket where she was wounded in a shooting rampage two years ago to speak about reducing gun violence. His actions have ignited fury on both sides of the firearms debate."

  5. Amazing stories, 'Wog!

Getting ready to go to the hairdresser and cover the gray. It makes me look my age.

Went to Outback Steakhouse last night. Joe was healthy, but I ordered ribs. I brought half of them home for lunch today. Baby back ribs and a pomegranite pear martini. How strange is that!

Today, the temp may climb into the low 90s. Is it still winter?

    3. I don't know why but I don't have gray hair...except some in the sunlight. I try to keep mine short, but today its getting long enough to hang in my eyes. I feel like "Cousin It".

I love Outback. I love ribs. I love steak, medium rare, with grilled onions and mushrooms. And some tasty horseradish sauce.
Today while I was out I stopped by Dominos pizza for some hot ribs. They cover the wings in Frank's Red Hot sauce. Love 'em.

Could this be why I'm a little overweight...and can't seem to get thinner?

  6. Wog, I just wrote a post and my computer popped up with an error message. My post was then lost in space.

So, just wanted to say I like your articles too!

Did anyone watch "The Bible" series on the history channel? I taped the first two, and watched number one last night. It was great!

Froggy, you and Surfie get well soon!

Wog, please let me know your email. I have a book subject to discuss with you. :)

Everyone, have a great day! Breaks over...back to work.

    2. Paget, other than some artistic license used in 'The Bible' I have found the program very enjoyable.

  7. Did any one see the news from China. Earlier this week there was a report that officials had fished 300 dead pigs out of the Shanghai River. Today the report is that they have removed 3000 more. Dead pigs. Out of a river that supplies water to the people. Government says the water is OK they will just add more disinfectant. Shocking. I saw a picture. Where did all those dead pigs come from and how did they get into the river?

Anything from China should have a skull and crossbones.

    1. That's a story that made me ill! They need to throw a few buckets of detergent in that water. It needs a good washing.

  8. It sounds like you had a lovely dinner, Eva--good!

3000 pigs, Gloria? I saw that, too and wondered where they came from.

'Woggy just got home from the store. Where's my Phoo? Phoo, I am praying you are okay.

  9. Happy belated birthdays deer people. I'm fine Froggy just sore from working putting in flowers around our patio. Had a Doc appointment today and am trying a new drug for my shaky hands. Surfie and Froggy, have you two been using zinc for your colds? The tests I've read says it works to shorten the length of a cold. Love all.

  10. Busy place today! From the top: Thanks for asking. Karen is a little over halfway through with radiation for the tumor on her chest. It's taking a lot out of her. She's encouraged that in spots where the tumor is dead, new skin is growing back. Discouraged that it has metastasized with small skin tumors (which have been removed). It's wait and see if its spread to any organs or bones. She's taking it one day at a time. In fact, just yesterday she asked me to tell everyone thanks for praying for her.

Eva, sometimes a girl just has to have some ribs. Love ribs. Getting a small grill for my patio is on my must have list for this Spring. Ribs just aren't the same cooked in the oven or even on a stove-top grill pan.

All the news you posted just makes me shake my head, especially about the Chinese saying that with all those dead pigs, the drinking water is still safe. Right. Reminds me of our own political class and "elite" media lying to our faces.

Phoo, I've tried zinc tablets. Truth is, they don't help me and make my mouth dry as a bone. Today, out of 33 employees, 10 were out sick. I've coughed, sneezed and blown my nose so much that my ribs hurt, the skin on my nostrils is raw, and I got a bloody nose today. Not only do I have this flu or whatever, but I'm very allergic to cedar pollen and its at record highs right now.

It's kind of funny at work. I'm a scrawny gray haired 58 year old woman. There is a beautiful 28 year old young woman in my office who is as sick as I am (she's actually Karen's daughter). We are showing up when 10 brawny men are calling in sick. Pansies! Joking about them makes us laugh, which sends us both into coughing sprees, but helps us get through the day.

This, too, shall pass. At least I have someone to make jokes about it during the day!

  11. Take care of yourself, Surfie! You know it'll take longer to get better when you can't stay home and rest. Whatever this bug is that's going around is a toughie. I've heard so many people around the country talking about it. Just a bad cold, they say, but it won't leave. I remember last year when I was sick, I had the raw nose and bloody snot. Just miserable. Keep eating and drinking water. You need your strength.
