Saturday AND Sunday. Days just for you!

Doesn't get any better than this!

  1. Good Morning Ponders,
My day starts with a run for the bus. Did you know that everyday I copy the day's TV schedule for Lori(only her favorite shows and football games).

News is too distressing. Not anything you and I can do about a government shutdown. I wonder how many people have heart attacks when they hear they won't get social security checks or food stamps are being cut?

Going to wear raincoat today. Did Seattle get a summer? Doesn't feel like we did. Strange weather up here sometimes.

  2. Beautiful calico kitten! I think most calicos are male. Female calico is rare. Don't know where I heard that or if it's true. We had a male calico when I was little. His name was Toby.

Just discovered an Asian food market here in OKC. Have my menu ready for next week's food and am going shopping! This will be my first trip, but from what I've heard I'll get everything I need for next week ... more fresh and less expensive than a regular chain grocery store.

    What's everyone doing?

  3. I think we had a female calico when I was between 5-10. Vague memory, but at least I was told she was a calico. Her name was Hedda.

I had to chime in on how cute this little one is today, but Puffin is calling me. Gotta go.

  4. Calico kittens! Now I have to look it up.

But first let me tell you my story. Froggy had a good day. I pushed her and wheelchair outside to front of building, and she had nice chat with a couple of the residents who were out to enjoy the sun. She gets along with everyone.

Then I came home, and picked up home phone to call and let Froggy know that I was home and safe. Phone was dead. What to do??? TV was on. Both computers connected to the Internet for about fifteen minutes, then they died too. Got my cell phone out to call Comcast. Was put on hold for tech support. Waited another fifteen minutes or so, then I lost cell phone connection. Drats! Double drats! Actually, this was definitely a triple drats!!!

I found a flashlight and got on the floor to look at the modem and the router. I used to fix this problem, but forgot what to do. Found a button on router that said, "reset." I pushed the button. It popped out. Then I pushed it back in. Voila! Everything was connected again. Now everything is labeled in case it happens again.

Now let me go check on calico kittens. Back in a jiffy. (Just how long is a "jiffy"?)

  5. CALICO CATS (Wikipedia)

"Because genetic determination of some coat colors in cats is linked to the X chromosome, calicoes are nearly always female. Because of the genetics involved, calico males generally have impaired vitality and are almost always sterile."

    1. MORE ABOUT KITTIES:

Cats of this coloration are believed to bring good luck in the folklore of many cultures. In the United States, these are sometimes referred to as money cats. The Japanese Maneki Neko figurine is almost always a calico cat.

A cat of the calico coloration is also the state cat of Maryland in the United States

    2. Sure got the calico gender thing wrong. Seems like our Toby was a rarity. He was a great cat.

Glad to hear Froggy is doing so well and got to enjoy some sun yesterday. Wog, everytime my internet goes down, I unplug it for a minute or so and it comes right back up. Don't have any idea why it goes down every now and then.

      What's everyone doing today?

    3. Surfie,
I think that's how I used to fix it. But I didn't know what to unplug. whatever I did, it worked. I put labels on everything including the phone.

The article about the Calico cats was pretty interesting. Of course, I would read anything about kittys.

  7. 'Wog, you're amazing! Problems like that drive me crazy! Even when I get everything working again, I wonder what heck happened to make it stop in the first place (assuming it wasn't something from the company). If it was something I did, I want to be able to avoid it the next time. Never works, though. Whatever it is that makes me lose my connection, it's different every time.

Just was reading all the ridiculous things Nancy Pelosi has been saying lately. She said Republican hate Obama because he is so "eloquent and nonpartisan". She said nothing more can possibly be cut from the budget because there's nothing left "the cupboard is bare". She said "Hillary Clinton is more prepared for the White House than her husband or Obama." Do you think we can get her committed?

  8. Good evening, pond friends! I wrote a post Friday, and then bumped my computer and the whole thing disappeared. *sigh* I just didn't have the ambition to write it out again.

Eva, whenever I hear Nancy Pelosi speak, I know I'll be angry and amazed at the same time that she ever got elected! Then I listen to Harry Reid and I feel the same way. I think they should both be committed!

Did anyone read the article at Lucianne.com entitled "Hillary, because what difference does it make?" It seems that she has been corrupt since day one, when she made the graduation speech at Wellesley College. Her history from that day on has been full of lies and deceit. I am concerned that she will run and the lofo voters will vote her in for the simple reason that she is a woman. Look what happened when they only looked at skin color, and not at character. We got Obama. So, I hope and pray that we can wake up enough people to make sure she isn't elected. (end of rant!)

Whew, now for something pleasant. Last night we had our family dinner, and I tried out a new recipe called "chicken Juarez". Everyone liked it! I liked it because it was easy to make. :)

Wog, I am so impressed that you are so self-sufficient. Your stories make me smile, as you always find a way to solve your problems. :)

I enjoyed the calico kitty discussion. We had a calico cat named Dingo, many years ago. She was a sweet girl.

Wog, I love hearing about Froggy's progress. Sounds like she'll be home soon!

I need to prepare for Monday, so I'll sign off. Goodnight everyone, and God bless you all.

    Love from Paget

    1. Hi Paget,
Wonderful post. If you keep up with your political comments, we'll make you a Ponder Pundit. Tell us about Chicken Juarez. If it's easy, I'd like to know about it. When Froggy comes home, I'll be the cook. I like your kitty's name...Dingo.

  9. Good Evening Ponders,
Don't know if Froggy wants to come home. They are spoiling her with three nice meals served in bed. She's not going to get that from me. I told her that I would plan a week's menu so that I wouldn't wonder what to fix everyday.

Seattle Seahawks won another game. Yay! for Seattle. It started at 1:30 (PST) so I got to watch most of the game with Froggy before taking bus home.

Froggy gets her hair washed and cut tomorrow. I've been trimming the back a little... but not very well. Hair stylists make it look so easy.

Paget brought up a story about Hillary running for president (please, tell me I'm dreaming!) Not that another dem would be any better. We sure need someone that can take control of the election and win it. The dems are killing us.

  10. I feel like I missed reading some posts. Or did someone sneak in a post when I wasn't looking?

I do think we need to keep an eye on Hillary. It's scary, just plain scary. And nothing we can do except vote, and pray that we don't get out-cheated.
