This Weekend is For Remembering

Drummer Lee Rigby R.I.P.

  1. Everything I've read about this young man was positive: a loving husband, father to 2-yr-old son Jack, drummer in The Royal Regiment of Fusilers.

"It was now the family's turn to say goodbye, he said. "We would like to say goodnight, Lee. Rest in peace, our fallen soldier, we love you loads and words cannot describe how loved and sadly missed you will be.

"We would like to thank everybody, the police and army for the amazing support we have received and for all the goodwill wishes we are receiving from all over the country in memory of Lee. Our hearts have been ripped apart from us, everyone is struggling to cope with this tragedy, so we would ask the press to respect our privacy to grieve our son's parting as we try to come to terms with this."

He then read out a poem, a tribute to Lee from an unknown poster on a Facebook page. It read:

You fought bravely and with honour died,
You leave your family so full of pride,
Sleep well young soldier, your job is done,
Your war is over, your battle won.
Our family chain is broken and nothing is the same,
But as God takes us one by one,
    Our chain will link again."

    1. RIP, young man. There is a special place in hell for the savage who murdered you, and everyone just like him.

The fact that nobody in London, by law, can carry a knife or even pepper spray, the police do not carry guns ... appalling. The crowd of people who watched this and did nothing have been turned into sheep. Robots with no courage and no moral compass. Which is precisely what those in power are trying to do to us.

/rant. Putting my American Flag out right now!

    2. Rant back on. The fact that most of the press in London, in the United States, in Sweden, and really all around the world refuse to say RADICAL ISLAM is equally appalling. Its called dhimmitude, and it is upon us.

    3. You're right, Surfie. Joe & I were ranting about just that last night. A BBC reporter said the men had a Muslim appearance or something like that. He had to apologize!!! This is why these things keep happening. If we don't recognize who the enemy is, well, we're done for. I'm sick and tired of qualifying everything with "of course, they aren't all like that."

  2. SWEET STORY -DOG AND HER KITTEN:

Rescued dog had already rescued a pet of her own, a tiny kitten

"If you haven't gotten your recommended daily allowance of cuteness yet, keep reading. And if you have, keep reading anyway because this is adorable. A South Carolina animal control officer climbed down an embankment to help a lost dog, but when she reached the yelping pup, she discovered that the briar-studded Shih Tzu was nursing a 5-week-old kitten. The pair was taken to a local shelter where the dog continues to care for her adopted offspring: They share a cage, sleep and eat together. "I didn't know what to think," shelter director Jessica Cwynar said. "I was shocked and surprised and then of course, awww." The dog was wearing a collar, so shelter staffers hope when her owners come forward, they'll be willing to adopt a kitten, too."

    1. Awwww!! How precious is that? Forgive me if I've already told you this: When I was very young, I got a puppy and a kitten at the same time. Lacie (the kitty) had a litter before I got around to having her fixed. On the very 1st day those babies were born, she let Riley (the doggie) get in her box and keep the babies warm while she went outside to take care of business. Such a sweet memory.

I've become friends with the young woman who lives across the breezeway from me. Our front doors face each other. On Monday, she and I are volunteering at one of the locations where rescued pets are being taken. Don't know what they will assign me to do. I'll do whatever is needed.

    4. Surfie, if I lived closer, I'd go with you to the pet rescue. Let us know more about their place when you start helping out.

    1. Hi Phooey,
Always nice to hear from you. I can't help but think of your alligator when I think of you. Did you read my story about Albert, the alligator that escaped from the Denver Zoo about 10 years ago. He swam around in a nearby lake for six weeks and ate the ducks.

    2. WOG, I prefer ducks over alligators and yes I read your story. Also I believe in a duck heaven. All life was given by God.... and all life returns back to Him to judge. I do have a problem believing in a mosquito, flea, and roach heaven though.

  4. Today, I found on Youtube(by accident) a kid, a prodigy. I hope you enjoy his gifts.
Immediately after Page and I were married, we moved to Imperial Beach, CA. We lived just two hundred yards from the pier. Once I even tried to swim in the ocean.... never again.... brrrrr!

A couple of years later we lived in Sunnyvale, CA. I remember California the way it was and it was beautiful. We were driving through a forest west of Sunnyvale and heard this song for the first time.... the sights and the music were overwhelming.

For all those who have fallen in the pursuit of liberty, we must pick up the banner for their cause and ours. Never Give In!
