  1. Good morning! What a beautiful picture. Gerbera daisies are one of my favorites. Thank you!

Froggy, are you feeling better this morning?

There are a gazillion things on my to-do list today. I'm like a kid in a buffet line. There were more things on my tray than I could eat, and there are more things on my list that I can actually get done. But I'll have fun doing what I can because I have a whole Saturday (not going to my office).

Hope all the gang here has a wonderful day. Love you all.

  2. Good morning Ponders. Froggy, was concerned about you yesterday. How are you this morning?

Hope our weather stays nice for a while. The gloom was getting to me.

I'll post my Dad story later.

  3. Good Morning Surfie,
It's only 6am on West Coast, so I'll soon take a pre-weekend nap before I start the day. I promised Froggy that I would unpack the 8 boxes in the living room today. Already fed the cat once. Hope there is sunshine for our flower garden. It would make Froggy's snapdragons happy. Ill be back in a little while.

  4. Good morning pond friends!

Froggy, I'm concerned about you too. How are you today?

It's a beautiful day over here. It's also my birthday. Gloria's comment above reminds me of something my dad said about five years ago. When he retired, he started volunteering to help people do their taxes. He did ours too that year. Then he said to me, "Debbie, I hope you don't plan to retire when you're 62, because you can't afford it." Haha, dad never did beat around the bush! So, today I'm 62 and I plan to keep right on working. :) I'm very thankful that I feel good, and my eyes are getting back to normal.

Surfie and Wog, you sound like you've got a lot going on today. I plan to finish my Father's day shopping, and then do housework.

Lately, I've been trying to take my mind off our country's problems as they really are depressing. What do you do when you want to cheer up? I like to read books that make me laugh. Have any of you read any of the books by Mary Kay Andrews? She is from the South, and that's where her storys take place. I just finished reading "Ladies's night out". Her books are so down to earth, and her characters are lovable but slightly flawed. Another distraction I've discovered is a reality show on TV about cooking. It's called, "The American Baking Competition". Jeff Foxworthy is the host. It's fun to watch, since I like to bake, but I'm also in awe of what these people can accomplish!

I hope everyone has a great day. :)

    Love and prayers from Paget

    1. Paget,
Happy Birthday, Dear Pond Friend! How exciting is that!
Loved your dad's story. I know what your dad meant about retiring. Working gets me out of the house. Too much home time and I start pacing around the apartment.

Again, Dear Paget, I hope today is special for you.

  5. I thought that was eyes on that one flower, but it was just the markings on the butterfly. Shows how blurry my eyes are in the morning, even wearing glasses (I can't face putting my contacts in first thing).

Someone in the complex had a party last night. It wasn't terribly loud, but there was a lot of talking and it kept me from sleeping, so I read in the living room until 2am. Had to try and keep the cats quiet, but finally they gave up on me and joined Joe in bed. Now he's gone to a karate event at his studio and I should be taking the computer in for a tune-up. If you don't hear from me for the rest of the weekend, I was motivated to do it, but didn't get there early enough to be able to get it back by the end of the day.

  7. I have been thinking about doing this for a while. In honor of Father’s Day I want to share a silly memory I have about my Dad.

Dad could be a little bit of a tight wad and a little quirky.

There was a time that he had to buy tabs for his pickup. The truck was already classified but he wanted to have it reclassified under a lighter weight class to save money on tabs. The DMV told him it would have to weigh under a certain amount. So he returned home and proceeded to remove anything from the truck he could find that would lighten the weight. It was a Ford Camper Special when he began his get the picture. When he finished the fenders were kind of loose. Then he took his truck down and had it weighed and surprise surprise it came in under the limit. He got it reclassified and bought his tabs. Saved himself a pretty penny too. Then he brought his truck home and reassembled it. Funny thing it was never quite the same.

Mom and Dad are both in heaven now. Love you Dad and Mom.

    1. Gloria, Your dad sounds like he was quite inventive! What a funny story! Please share more. I agree with Wog, you probably have enough for a book. :)

    2. Gloria...
Loved the dad story! I pictured a classic truck stripped down to the cab and wheels. Whatever he did, it worked.

    3. If memory serves me he even removed the bench seat and replaced it with amilk crate.

  9. I'm glad I wasn't motivated enough to take the computer in today. I would have missed these posts and missed the chance to wish Paget a happy birthday. Gotta take it in soon, though. It took almost a minute to load the Pond. I've done what I can myself, but it hasn't helped. Oh well.

    1. Hi Eva,
Computers, TVs, cars can all be a pain sometimes when they don't work. Yet we are so used to having them, we are lost without them. One time my car had a flat tire, and I couldn't undo the lug nuts to take off the tire. I went in the house and cried from frustration. Then I called AAA, and the problem was solved in no time. Just thought I' share that story. Doesn't really help with your computer.

About your move... When we moved, I opened an Excel spreadsheet, and listed all the addresses that we would have to contact for the new address. I highlighted each one in yellow if I contacted them. You'd be surprised how many things need a new address.

Another list (I'm a list-maker!) I did was what NOT to pack: computer passwords, addresses of friends, the telephone, info on the kittys (license, health records, vets name), my favorite pillow to use at motels.

    2. Thanks, Eva!

Good luck with your computer! I know I'd be lost without mine. :(
