  1. What a sweet vignette. My neighbor told me to dig up a lilac that was creeping under the fence. I did and am waiting to see any signs of sucess.

Hope you all have a blessed Sunday.

    1. Good morning, Gloria,
Some plants are so easy to grow. Your lilac should be a wonderful addition to your yard. I won't pay for a geranium. It just takes a snippet off a branch, put in water to get roots, and plant. Most people don't know that. It can probably be done with a lot of plants. We had geraniums in San Diego, and that's how we grew them.

Everyday I plan to feed the cat at 5am, then go back to bed. But somehow the news is interesting or I stop by The Pond to say "Hi" or breakfast is calling me to the kitchen... and I'm still up.

There are some interesting news articles to post today, but they can wait til later. On my way to kitchen to see what looks good for breakfast.

    2. Hi Wog. Many plants can be propagated by your method. The Pothos vine maybe one of the most common ones, found in offices and homes everywhere. If there is enough light to read a book, the vine will root and grow FAST! Another plant I water root and grow is Dragon Wing Begonias, another shady to part sun plant that blooms all year long. However, I don't think I ever tried geraniums, which really befuddles me. Since we have some geraniums, guess what I'll be doing really soon. Thanks for the heads up.

  2. Mmmmmm, lilacs. I've just ordered some handmade soap from a little business on Etsy that's supposed to have an old summertime, lilac scent. I'm hoping it's everything I've heard it is.

Joe & the boys are still sleeping. I'm hoping the Sunday morning shows will be full of the NSA spying story. I'm not holding my breath, though. The guy who broke the story in the UK paper, said Americans would be appalled if they really understood how the Obama Admin. interprets the Patriot Act. Thinking about what Paget said yesterday about how the libs would have reacted to this had a Republican been in office makes me groan. Of course, the eye in the sky has just read everything I typed :(

    1. Hi Eva, Etsy is a fun place to shop. I haven't been over there for a while. Handmade lilac soap sounds wonderful. Does Etsy ship pretty fast? I have only used Ebay.

    2. I think everything comes from wherever the shop is. This particular one is in Kansas! The day after I ordered the soap, I got a notification that it had been shipped. That's pretty good, but I don't know if another shop would be slower.

  3. SUNDAY FEEL-GOOD STORY:

"WWII vet earns high school diploma at 91, 74 years after dropping out"

At 92, Edward Morrissey has lived an incredibly full life: He worked at a gas station and as a gunmaker before leaving high school a few weeks short of earning his degree in 1939 to take a job. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served in the South Pacific during World War II. When he returned home to New Hampshire, he spent another 26 years in service to his community — this time, as a police officer.

But 36 years after retiring from that work, Morrissey fulfilled a lifelong dream: finally finishing his high school education at Smith Vocation and Agricultural High School. The school's superintendent called him a "true American hero."

  4. PONDER THIS, PONDERERS:

"Free gun initiative begins in Houston neighborhood"
    Published June 08, 2013 / Associated Press

OUSTON – Houston resident Cheryl Strain's inexperience with guns was apparent as she struggled to load shells into a 20-gauge shotgun.

Over the piercing blasts of gunfire in the shooting range, Strain's instructor, Dan Blackford, patiently directed her on how to use her thumb to shove a shell all the way inside the barrel and feel it click.

"Now we got a round in the chamber ready to go," Blackford said as he positioned her body on the right way to hold the shotgun. "Look down your sight, put that BB right in the middle of your target and press the trigger."

Strain's northwest Houston community of Oak Forest is the first neighborhood in the country being trained and equipped by the Armed Citizen Project, a Houston nonprofit that is giving away free shotguns to single women and residents of neighborhoods with high crime rates.

While many cities have tried gun buy-backs and other tactics in the ongoing national debate on gun control, the nonprofit and its supporters say gun giveaways to responsible owners are actually a better way to deter crime.

  5. Argghhh! Just heard from home that my sister's psycho husband has MOVED to Georgia and he called my father to tell him. He said he isn't leaving without my sister. He told my father he should set up a meeting between him and my sister. Like that's going to happen! My father said if he sees him anywhere in town he's calling the police and hung up. My sister has been informed and my niece as well. Sheesh!

    1. Eva, That's a scary situation. I would want to know where the psycho husband is at all times. Need a tracking device on his car or a way to GPS his cell phone. Don't know why he would tell that he moved to Georgia except to scare everyone.

  6. Eva, has a restraining order been filed against the psycho? Who the heck does stuff like that? This isn't the dark ages and your sister isn't his property. What a wicked man.

One of the things I detest most in this world is injustice. I think this situation fits.

    1. A restraining order is just so that he doesn't come to an address, right? I think my dad and niece are going to do that, but what if he comes up to her in the street or at WalMart or somewhere like that? Does she need to become a prisoner in her motel room? I like the GPS on his cell phone idea.

    2. I have heard of people being forbidden of being within so many feet of the other person. They are not supposed to have any contact. The psycho sounds unstable and unpredictable.

    3. In theory the restraining order should keep someone away from you. But in reality, a stalker doesn't care about restraining orders. What it does do is give the police permission to arrest him if he violates the order.

'WOG signing off for this evening. Everyone stay safe and come back tomorrow. Love ya...
